Japan: High speed maglev train that will actually be finished soon Italy: a retractable wall to protect Venice from surges Indonesia: a large sea wall Uk: updating London’s subway system and adding new lines China: A new dam which is one place behind the three gorges dam Egypt: 28 new cities with the capital aiming to be bigger and probably better than Singapore *The U.S.: A tiny stadium in NEW YORK CITY comparable to the flop Levi stadium in the “world tech capital” Silicon Valley which was apparently claimed to be the most advanced stadium in the world, The slowest high speed rail in the world promised to be built decades ago is still struggling, and a not so luxurious small estate.*

It's a question of timing and publicity as well though. The USA has literally hundreds of what they would consider 'minor' to 'medium' construction projects that would be seen as complete game-changers in most other countries but aren't even looked at as that big a deal in the states. It's just not even really comparable. Just look at some of the sports stadiums being built in the states. Most countries would dream of even having one example and America has dozens.

Scottsdale "Megaproject" is really something else. It will definitely change the life of 81 rich families, where they can fart in their hands and smell roses and enjoy their ionized air, without having to endure the sight of poor people. Together with the mediocre arena built in NY, US is really leading the pack when it comes to megaprojects.

At minimum there should be a guarantee by Ethiopia to ensure a reasonable amount of water is allowed to flow - once the reservoir is full, the river can flow more freely, and Egypt can use Lake Nasser for their purposes, but at least there will be enough water for all along the river. For Ethiopia to strangle off the river it will take more than just flipping a switch, because there are many Ethiopians along the river too, and they would be the first to suffer. The dam needed to be built because it is a necessary infrastructure for the developing nation and it is a source of great national pride, it will make life better for many people. There is no reason to make life worse for millions of others just because they live downstream, and Ethiopia has pledged to allow the river to flow once the reservoir is full - I would urge patience, even though no one seems to have much of it these days.

Hawaiians are not Native American as you use the term, they are Native Hawaiian, but the best term is aboriginal people. They are also a conquered just as the "Native Americans" and thus their concerns are secondary if they are to be considered at all.

@RockAndRollOne You have a very odd sense of Human migration. Pacific Islanders are a lower branch of the Australoid stem that drops down from the Asian racial group. The northern branch of that group formed what is known as the American Indian tribes. The southern branch that made it's way to South America formed the pool for the Inca stock. While both hail from the Asian racial group there are variations in them but neither of them came FROM America. They migrated TO America. The American tribes were defeated in war. As a conquered people they have a choice, move out of the way of the conqueror, assimilate with the conqueror or die. The various tribes did all three and often a combination of those choices. But the only way people are born in Hawaii are native American is that everyone born within the political confines of the USA are native to America regardless of their race - Asian, Australoid, Black or White.

I would be curious to know what is the deciding factor for items to be on the list: time to build, cost, new technology, general size or the controversy it caused. There's at least 6 projects that I honestly don't find impressive, either because it has already been done, it's nothing special or, even if it'S big, there are bigger ones elsewhere. Those 6 are: California high speed rail, New York UBS arena, London Crossrail, Malaysia Klang Valley MRT, China Bayetan dam and Scottsdale The Palmeraie.
