Uh.... For the Bay Bridge which links San Francisco to the East Bay, I think the stock footage is all wrong. The footage shows the western span of the bridge. The Bay Bridge is actually two bridges: The western span which is a suspension bridge that runs from San Francisco to an island in the middle of the bay (Yerba Buena Island). The other "bridge" is the eastern span which runs from Yerba Buena island to Oakland. The eastern span was a cantilever bridge. That's the portion of the bridge that suffered the roadway collapse in the 1989 earthquake (which occurred during the world series baseball game between the San Francisco Giants and the Oakland Athletics). The stock footage in this video is of the suspension portion of the bridge. The part that was replaced by the "Engineering Marvel" was the cantilevered eastern span.

Was this able to be done in 1873? i.e. the International Railway Bridge in Buffalo NY? Niagara River current there is between 7-11 mph constant. This was prior to the installation of the ice boom. Also levels of River vary w the wind off of Lake Erie, this increases flow & there pressure exponentially. How were caissons sunk in 10 mph current, in 1870's? I am currently researching this, help & insight welcomed & most appreciated 🙏💯. 🐾

I have to say, I'm surprised that neither Chernobyl sarcophagus is on this list. Both of them were remarkable building protects that should have been included.

this is ridiculous. everything is in america. and i love how when it an non US one you raise loads of negatives (three gorges dam, China), when talk of the US structures is only positive with stats. hoover dam, empire state building, san fran bridges and guggenheim should not be on this list.

yeah i'm french and when i visited america, i visited New York and San Francisco. Coincidentally, i visited almost all of these engineering "marvels". And its not like those washington state bridges sghould be included anyways.

He should be putting stuff like the Great Wall of China, The Eiffel Tower, maybe something from the USA, the Suez Canal, the Sydney Opera House, the Dubai Palm Islands, and maybe the Akaishi Kakyo Bridge. (if i didn't include other stuff, pls don't take any offense because i have rlly faulty memory)
