It's surprising when you think about it how very few Disney villains are actually directly killed by the hero. Most of the time their deaths are the result of their own carelessness (Frollo, Clayton, the Evil Queen).

Plus the Beast came to respect Belle and love her for who she is which is the main reason why she fell for him. Gaston in the very beginning of the movie, disrespected her as a woman, her interests in reading and educating herself (which was shunned at that time period) and completely ignored everything about Belle except for her looks. Gaston treated her father like a piece of shit like everyone else in the village. Although Beast did the same thing when he first met him, he eventually let Belle go to him when he saw that he was sick and dying. The ending implies that Beast let Maurice move into the castle.

Clayton should be number 1 in my opinion. I watched Tarzan and Hunchback of Notre Dame in my preteen/early teen years so I was "too old" to care about Disney movies at the time. So neither of them have a nostalgic appeal to me like older ones do. However, nostalgia and everything else out the window, I will always remember the morbid visual in the shadow of a lynched corpse. It's not just brutal for a Disney film, it's pretty brutal anywhere.

I remember watching Tarzan a couple years ago, it had been a long time since I’d watched it last and now that I was old enough to pick up on things, I saw that shot and I was like “whoa....” I was just shocked. And when I was saying to my sisters “that’s just... incredibly morbid” they were just like “dude it’s not that bad” and I just pointed at the screen like “WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT, THAT IS THE SINGLE DARKEST THING I’VE EVER SEEN IN A DISNEY MOVIE”

In my opinion, hanging is the most morbid kind of death ever, just something that prevents someone from breathing, and then their dead body just dangling from the ceiling, it's enough to make me cringe, and not the kind of cringe that you get when you watch a vid you made as an 8 year old.

There are also villains who don't get the punishment they deserve. Look at the coachman from Pinnochio. I mean, he got away with his crimes. He's still turning bad boys into donkeys and selling them off to do God knows what. And who knows what he does to the ones that still talk......

The Coachman is one of the darkest Disney villains for sure. Made even darker by the fact that he doesn't die like most of the worst Disney villains do, or even get imprisoned, and those boys that are now donkeys are never saved, which is one of the darkest things in Disney history alongside Mufasa's murder and Shan Yu massacring a village. Though, from what I heard, even worse than him is Chernabog, who has been called something like "unfathomably terrifying" or something. On the "least to most evil" list from this channel, he was at the top, and like the Coachman, he doesn't die or get imprisoned, though he is forced to retreat for the time being.

I would respectfully remind Team Gaston of a few things they often tend to overlook. First, while I acknowledge the Beast was definitely in the wrong at the beginning, he later reformed, and released Belle because he loved her. (This is also kinda the reverse of Stockholm Syndrome as he fell in love with her first, and while she did consider him a friend before truly falling in love with him herself, this wasn't until he started treating her better than Gaston ever did). Belle was no longer in need of rescuing, and the Beast potentially sacrificed his chance at becoming human again for her. Second, as noted already, Gaston didn't truly love Belle, he was merely infatuated with her for her physical beauty. Remember how he belittled her love for reading, and there is one more point for this I'll save for last. Third, Gaston never mentions the Beast kidnapping Belle to the villagers. As I mentioned already, by the time Gaston learned of the Beast's existence (he didn't believe Maurice at first), Belle was free. Instead of pointing out what the Beast DID do, Gaston made up whatever he could to get the villagers to go with his plan, and when the Beast refused to fight back (out of a broken heart) Gaston thought the Beast was too kind and gentle to even defend himself and taunted him for it. There is a moment in the fight where Gaston was intended to say "Time to die!" but they changed it to "Belle is mine!" specifically to remind the audience that his true objective, whatever he said to the villagers, was to eliminate his rival for Belle's affection. His vendetta against the Beast started with a jealous look at Belle's affectionate words towards the Beast and saying "If I didn't know better I'd think you had feelings for this monster." Fourth... Whatever you think about the Beast situation, let's not forget something else Gaston did, or at least attempted to do, that has nothing to do with the Beast. Gaston tried to blackmail Belle into marrying him by threatening to lock Maurice in an insane asylum. Both he and Monsieur D'Arque acknowledge that Maurice is harmless and Gaston was perfectly willing to lock him up in a place that is implied to be horrible given that Monsieur D'Arque is pretty evil himself (he calls Gaston's plan despicable and then says he loves it). He boasts with Lefou that no one takes cheap shots like Gaston, and attempts to carry out his threat without any hesitation or remorse when Belle refuses to marry him.

My opinions: 15: Gaston (Beauty and the beast) Who better off to start with other than Gaston? Simple death, falling. 14: Professor Ratigan (Great Mouse Detective) Same with Gaston, he fell, BUT! There is someone in the comment section and said after he fell, he got EATEN by his pet cat. Scoring more brutal points 13: Hades (Hercules) Okay, I'm bending the rules a bit, but Hades "death" was definitely spooky, and we'll see spooky again soon. (Foreshadowing) 12: Evil Queen/Maleficent (Snow White/Sleeping Beauty) They both fell, but had something happen before they died. I'd say Maleficent was more brutal because the stab of the sword of truth. 11: Frollo (Hunchback of Notre dame) That. Was. Awesome. 10: Syndrome (Incredibles) This is why you don't wear capes. You get *SUCKED INTO A JET ENGINE AND DIE.* 9: Rourke (Atlantis The Lost Empire) Unforgettable death for a forgettable movie. 8: Charles Muntz: (Up) For such an emotional movie, this was a surprise, but he just falls. 7: Dr. Facilier (The Princess and The Frog) HE JUST GOT DRAGGED TO HELL. 6: Clayton (Tarzan) Overrated 5: Ursula (Little Mermaid) She gets stabbed, struck by lightning, and sinks. 4: Oogie Boogie ( Nightmare Before Christmas) Oh my living wiener schnitzel THIS WAS DISGUSTING. 3: King Candy/Turbo (Wreck it Ralph) I have watched this movie and I LOVE IT. So I took King Candy's death seriously. 2: Scar (Lion King) He got eaten by his hyena lackeys 1: Scroop (Treasure Planet) The horror of losing oxygen put him here.

I miss truly human evil villains like Rourke, Frollo and Clayton. Not played for laughs, but truly terrifying, because you KNOW people like that exist. And the way they go out is so personal to them. Like frollo literally gets pretty much smited by the god he thinks he follows in a last ditch effort to kill the object of his desire. Rourke gets turned into a monster (both in actuality and metaphorically) by his object of desire (the crystal and the money it will make him) and Clayton dies because of his inability to show mercy and when Tarzan shows him mercy in the end, he is unable to accept it and literally kills himself as he aggressively cuts the vines that keep him alive. I love when Villains die of hyrbis rather than someone killing them actively. Same with Mr. Sykes and Syndrome. It's satisfying to see them essentially end themselves.

Wow thanks for reminding me of Facilier’s death Something that has still left psychological scars on me since I first saw it a decade ago Can I just say the deaths where the hero/heroine looks absolutely horrified by what’s happening to the villain and it’s incredibly clear that they’re horrified are the absolute WORST ones Tarzan was trying to save Clayton, he might’ve hated the guy but he sure as fuck wasn’t intent on letting him get hanged or just have multiple other bones broken or whatever because of Clayton wildly slashing at the vines he was entangled in Tiana was most likely expecting just for Facilier to have something happen to him, or at least to be changed back perhaps thinking it could’ve been another way to turn human again She was not expecting the loa to drag him off to their realm begging and pleading the entire time to have another chance to make do on his promise to him And well the other deaths like that too But those stand out to me the most Because good GOD look at Tarzan and Tiana during the entirety of those scenes Tarzan is blind panic because he can sense what’s going to happen if Clayton continues to disregard his offer to help him Tiana is thinking ‘This was not what I was expecting, not even close. What have I done.’ A hero/heroine showing no fear or panic towards a villains death as it happens is satisfying because they’re pleased with the fact that the villains getting what they deserved A hero/heroine looking horrified by what’s going on is incredibly chilling Also Facilier wasn’t dragged to hell His friends from the other side aren’t demons, they’re loas, which are powerful voodoo spirits; they do not have any ties to Christianity and therefore do not have any form of hell Facilier was simply dragged to the other side where his friends came from Also Falling deaths terrify me because I’ve got a massive case of acrophobia And Oogie Boogies last words will forever haunt me, the pitch up changes in the voice as more and more bugs fall into the stew until it’s just one bug and it’s silenced by being stomped on And his songs hands down the best song from the movie Fucking fight me in the streets at 3 am over this I won’t back down

Fact: Vlad the Impaler was a 14th century prince who ruled Wallachia, a province in Romania. He got the nickname Vlad the Impaler from his favorite method of execution: impalement. He once impaled some of his own people and prisoners of war and planted them outside the capital city to scare away the invading Ottomans. Also, he's the inspiration for Bram Stoker's 1897 novel Dracula.

as for no. 15 if you're siding with Gaston you are missing two important details 1. he is basically the mouse house's equivalent to Biff Tannen i.e a bully who try's everything up to and including blackmail to get his own way. 2. he knows damn well Belle doesn't want anything to with him but he doesn't a sh*t about that.
