Was the Ferrari Lotus’s door open for 2 corners towards the end of the climb? And Petter Solberg just sending it in that WRX car with little downforce and 400hp less than the top competition was just a treat to watch. Simola always brings out the craziest cars and drivers of any motorsport event across all categories including F1 and WEC. This is the reason it’s my favorite event of the whole year, you just never see these insane machines sending it in full anywhere else.

Petter schooled them. No down-force, no monster engine. Just pure driving skills, almost sideways through the corners and with > -20 kph on the straight.

Solberg drove that so hard. Very nice. Notice the top 3 times were no brakes through the top S. The suspension on that R35 killed it though. Low and tight scraping the corners. Major props to Roets and the tuners on Armageddon. Suspension won that one.

There's no doubt that Peter Solberg is a fast driver but I think the car played a huge role too. This hillcimb road is too bumpy. Most of the aero car kept pitching up and down and scraping their front splitters. This is bad for aero cars because they can't produce downforce consistently. Therefore, the drivers can't push their cars to 100%. For the rally car, this road is smooth like butter. Solberg could drive the car as fast as he wanted.

then that is the fault of those team's setup. i agree the road was bumpy, and the other teams should have accounted for it the way Petter's team did

@@dalton-at-work They probably did their best. They could be running on their softest setup but it's still too bumpy. Maybe they would have more handling problems if they ran a softer setup.
