    DJ is probably the best at showing & explaining how to tie knots and as a bonus, you get examples of their practical use out in the field or bush! A big 👍🏻 from me!

    Question have you ever thought of creating a Video Book where your bundle these videos together. I love how you demonstrate each knot and how it used. But if I had a video book I could look up a knot that I would need base on my situation. Not sure how the market would accept it, but I feel if you could say upload this to your phone and you can carry with you. I would purchase it. I think anyone who goes out doors would use it. Just a thought great videos thanks.

    Great channel. One thing I did notice. When you were tying the truckers hitch. If you pass the working end through the loop twice, when you apply tension the hitch will bit and no tension will be lost. Great channel, keep up the good work. Im Grant from Cornwall UK.

    Dj, I really enjoy your instruction. Question, I know that in one of your videos you detail what kind of cordage you take on a typical camp. But I can’t remember which video it is and I don’t have time to watch each one again. Can you guide me to the right video? I am purchasing my various cordage. and I thought this was helpful.

  • @TheBearEssentials

    @TheBearEssentials

    Hey Joel! Sure it’s in one of my silent long form videos - 3 days bushcraft by the river. In January, I’m releasing my own cordage that I use personally. In some neat bundles so you can test out the different types for yourself before purchasing them in bulk or whatnot. It’s difficult to find the right cordage because each supplier has different levels of quality for example. So I’m trying to make it simple. If you’re grabbing some stuff right now, that video has the different types I use and what lengths I generally bring out !

    @@TheBearEssentials I am really grateful that you took the time to reply. I will rewatch and take note. It is tough with so many grades of manufacturing out there; I’ll take my chances. Luckily it’s not for climbing but rather things like my ridge line and less life supporting tasks.

    Rolling hitch vs taught line hitch - what’s better for what? Thanks!

  • @TheBearEssentials

    @TheBearEssentials

    6 ай бұрын

    Rolling hitch is better for attaching onto a separate line. Taut line is for wrapping around something and back onto itself. This is where it gets a tad confusing, but you can also do the rolling hitch around something and back onto itself, but then it’s name is the “midshipman’s hitch” and it performs the same as the taut line and even a bit more secure

    If you wanted to have all your tarp tie outs one length would 10 ft of paracord for each tie out be a good estimate. Thanks for your videos.

    You really need only three knots: Constrictor ; Bowline ; Truckie's Hitch (NOT the Trucker's Hitch). That's it! All other knots do the same thing as one of these three knots.
