I honestly think that after the last year(s) it can't really get much better. I already start to see a lot of repetition and songs start sounding similar. This year brought us a lot of bops but the next one will probably be slower.

@@ma1iag Influence wise, it was somewhat big. Mostly just BTS due to their presence in the West. Views on YT mostly affected big groups like BTS, Twice, BP, Red Velvet, etc. 2008-2014 still made it more iconic and mainstream. Especially after 2012.

Unfortunately, when Exid strays from their typical sound ppl tend to not like it, yet those same ppl are the ones who say their songs all sound alike. I personally am not a fan of Lady that much, but I love I Love You. It did good considering when it came out.

Wow you can see the huge difference between last year and this year. At the end of 2017 only about 9 songs had over 100M views and only 2 had over 200M. This year is so much crazier because 12 have over 100M views, 6 of them over 200M, and 4 of those over 300M, with the top 2 having more than 400M and 500M views 😵😵 kpop is so popular now, one can only imagine how 2019 will go 🤯

I'd say as American Pop is beginning to decline in influence to more hip-hop, R&B style music, K-Pop and Latin Pop are really the ones growing massive in influencing global pop songs. Aside from a few names like Ariana Grande and Dua Lipa, Western Pop was really subdued this year.

It seems this year has more multi-language releases. Korean K-Pop is obviously the best, but the creation of songs in English and other languages widens their appeal and market sales.

@@myworlditsgreen1642 Look for Cross Gene. Sadly their best era was Casper and Takuya (recent departure). If you can think of Bowie and Kpop, that is kind of Cross Gene. Amazing group, awesome alternative pop, need to bring on couple of new members and promote outside Japan, but keep their crazy vibe and I think there will still be a niche for them.

Yay, awesome round up of the year! It's interesting though & should be noted that numbers 100-27 have (roughly) between 10 million & 47 million views. Just a little thing to remember when you wanna freak out because your group's new video hasn't hit a hundred million views in a week or something like that. A lot of my favorites of the year didn't even have enough views to make it on this list.

If you have only 1 MV in a year it's usual to have more views. No. 2 and No. 3 in total is more than 700M! Not even adding J-Hope's what else Jin's, Jungkook's, V's, Idol's with N. Minaj and Fake Love's ext. versions are not even in the list which means ARMYs need to stream 9X. Not only BTS, IKON, Winner, RV, Shinee and many more have 2-3-4 songs in the list. Dunno if you get what I mean?

The views keep growing and growing each year. I remember in 2009 getting a million views in a week was an incredible accomplishment. It’s nice to see a good mix of artists in the top 20 though. Hopefully CLC get more exposure in 2019.
