I’m just happy that horror movies from the 1970s were well represented in the top 25. Carrie, The Omen, Suspiria, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Jaws, Halloween, Alien and The Exorcist. The 1970s was the best decade of horror ever. A lot of underrated horror movies in that decade as well. Like Magic from 1978 starring Anthony Hopkins and 1977’s Martin by George Romero.

Agreed. Hereditary should have been in the top 10. It's actually pretty sad that no modern horror film will ever crack the top 10 of any list no matter how good it is because the classics will never lose their position... and rightfully so, but at the same time I'd take Hereditary over a film like Jaws any day of the week. The dread and sheer helplessness that Hereditary makes you feel is crazy. The atmosphere of that film is amazing.

I agree. Psycho is definitely the greatest horror movie. The twists in the movie were absolutely diabolical for it's time. The soundtrack, all strings, takes you on an unforgettable journey of madness and horror. The shrieking of the violins still haunt me.

Minor quibbles, but overall a good list. It's hard to pick from the top three, but I'd put Exorcist over Psycho. Disappointed that Talk To Me didn't make the list - it's fantastic! Also where is event horizon? Best scifi horror movie ever!

Signs and The Shining are truly some of my favorite movies ever. The Signs slow jumpscare with the aliens, and the plot of The Shining are incredibly well done. I love those movies so, so much.

If "Phantasm" is on the list, then "Burnt Offerings" needs to be there as well. "Burnt..." was the first film to use Dunsmuir House as a set. For "Phantasm", it became Morningside Mortuary & has been used for a few other films as well.

Great list compiled here. 70's well represented, and it's very well deserved. Two titles, that were left out, come to mind. "Amityville Horror" has been on most lists that I encounter, for as long as I can remember. "When A Stranger Calls", with Carol Kane, is one that I believe should be on all lists, just because of the impact its climax had on society. Babysitting took a very noticeable hit, for a short time, after the release of this movie.

Agreed! He’s one of my favorite horror actors. I have yet to see the original Candyman, but loved him in Final destination franchise

Psycho 2 is the most underrated horror movie. It is easily better than a lot of horror movies on this list but I've never seen it on any top horror movies countdown. Anthony Perkins returns as Norman Bates and again his performance was great along with his co star Meg Tilly.

I’m shocked and appalled that Killer Klowns from Outer Space was not #1 nor even on the list.

The Exorcist is 1 of the 10 best American films of all time 💯. Should be numero uno in horror 💯

Honestly the top 3 could all be changed around. They're all the best in terms of their respective parts of the genre. (psychological, satanic/gruesome imagery, and slasher)

Fantastic list! Predicted the top 3. Have always been a fan of Freaks!! Freddy will always be the best "slasher" villain due to the fact it "lives/lived" in the dream world!! However, one that doesn't seem to ever hit any list, and don't know if it would be considered "horror", "The Night of the Hunter" should be on it.

While some of my favorites didn’t even make this “Top 100,” I’m satisfied with your list. Classics are classics not because they’re old, but because they inspired everything that came after.

Fallen was a great horror. You never knew who you could trust.

Great list! I am a little disappointed FT13 isn’t in the top 30, but regardless, pretty spot on with all these movies.

I guessed Exorcist.

I’m not saying these were great films, but I found them suspenseful. Ghost Story, Happy Birthday to Me, and Dressed to Kill. Especially Dressed to Kill. The ending where Michael Caine kills the nurse, steals her uniform, and sneaks out of Bellevue. Then he tracks down Nancy Allen, and she realizes she’s being stalked, but is too paralyzed with fright to do anything about it. Then we find it’s all a dream. Wow

I was excited to see the Beyond on this list!

My top 5 1. The Thing 1982 2. When evil lurks 3. Hereditary 4. Evil Dead 2013 5.The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)

Hereditary is my all time favorite horror film. I never thought a modern horror would take my all time favorite spot but it managed to do that and then some. Amazing film.

If No Psycho , Then No The Exorcist. I Agree 💯 That The Exorcist Is Much Scarier. But Psycho Is Based On A Real Serial Killer. That Same Serial Killer Inspired Silence Of The Lambs As Well.

No Jeepers Creepers? Kujo? Maximum Overdrive? Pet Semetary? People Under the Stairs? Children of the Corn? Cabin Fever? Sinister? Silent Hill? So many iconic horror movies left out for some movies on this list that are actually thrillers. Honorable mentions like Pumpkinhead, The Leprechaun, Silver Bullet, and Dead Silence.

Do top 100 action movies plz. I would be so happy cause I love action movies so much. Plz do a top 100 with action movies plz 🙏
