Amazing video. Some of these games I'd love to play. I recently added to my list Arkham Horror and Cascadia for instance. Already got Wingspan and I can't wait to test it with my family. Terraforming Mars must be great as well.

Nice to see Alhambra make the list. Just played that last week. So many fun modules for it to keep it fresh, even after all these years.

They have already announced a big box for Wingspan. It would already be out if it weren't for shipping issues.

So glad to see Targi so high on Tom's list of all time greats! I just bought the GeekUp Bits for Targi as well as the expansion that has bakelite goods tiles, metal gold coins and silver victory point crosses. I can hardly wait for it to arrive! My final Targi bling is a custom neoprene playmat with the border cards printed on one side and the expansion border cards on the other. 😃

I usually resonate with Zee. Onirim is my most played app, Mission Red Planet is fantastic and unfortunately, Dune Imperium is still on my shelf of shame but I can't wait to play it!

Rattus is SO GREAT! I really want to try Red Planet. And Five Tribes is a Top 10 game for me, no question. I love all the expansions, too. Zee, about your comment during the Blood Rage discussion, I would argue that ANY game would get to that point where people know exactly how well a strategy would or would not work, not just games like Dominion.

I'm not going to defend Red November but I do think it had one cool mechanic. In most "co-operative with a traitor games", someone gets stuck being the traitor because they were passed a card that told them to do it. In Red November, if you're the traitor, that was a choice you made. Integrated with a smoother game, I'd love to see that get used again.

I really enjoy watching these lists! Seeing the group dynamic of you guys is great, and finding new games and mechanics I might like is fun too! Awesome job!

I wish Cinque Terre was more available also. I played it at a Dice Tower Con, so definitely in the library. Great game!

Thank you Zee for mentioning the board layout for Arkham Horror. One of the best things about the game. The board also changes as you are playing the game.

1:00:59 Vabanque is really really good. For specific types of people or setting. People who just love poker, reading people, calculating risk/reward, and don't mind, or even welcome, a game which allows them that without needing actual money. A board game with co-workers is usually a great setting for this game, because it lends itself into that 'friendly poker game' atmosphere typically associated with this setting, again, without involving real money, which is great.

Alhambra MEGA box. a trunk of insanity and my copy had missing pieces that were a headache to replace, but wow the expansions are good!

Cinque Terre was reviewed by someone on the Dice Tower before Mike was on the Dice Tower staff. I was right... it was reviewed by the Game Boy Geek in 2013. But I could swear that I've seen it on Top 10 lists before... found it! Jason had it on the Dice Tower's Top 10 Pickup and Deliver games featuring Tom, Jason and Rahdo as guests.

Love Cthulhu Wars! It is a bear to take to meetups though! XD

I fit the European Expansion into the Wingspan box, but mainly because I keep the dice tower out on display.

Same as Zee on Rattus (although i still own it and first expansion). I got burned by enormous luck (or lack of it) so many times, i just can't force myself to go through it again.

Love how they want to play each other's picks.

The Wingspan nesting box (big box) and next expansion (continent not yet announced) are scheduled to release together in late Q3/early Q4 of this year.

There are organization kits for Wingspan to fit all the expansions in the base box. I have the biggest organization issue with Mansions of Madness.

That's so strange - I've had the same thing happen to me too - someone just quit mid game because it was too "hard" to understand!

#34 \o/ !!! As said in another video, the KS for Vabanque failed, so we can't released the deluxe version we expected, so we decided to change some things to release it as a normal/retail version. The goal is to see people enjoying this new version, that is the most important for us.

I couldn’t find a copy of vabanque, but I made my own and they are right, it’s a very divisive game. Some people love it, some don’t care for it. I don’t know why. I think it’s great.

I honestly think they should have debates....when they do....I want to debate roy on theme....the concept that one game has more theme than another and that you can feel the theme come through is so weird to me. never get that. I'm going to have to give Hadara a try. I've watched Rahdo play it, BGG game night play it, etc. and every time I think it looks fun. But when I go to pick it up, I hesitate. But 31 all time?? Out of the thousands of games, 31 all time for Tom. There is something there. I need to at least play it.

Wingspan tip: The card holders fit in the European Expansion Box, the player boards fit in the Oceania box, everything else goes in the main box. Yes, annoying to have 3 boxes, but that's how they fit the best.

Saint Petersburg is an amazing game!

Highly disagree with Tom on Doris Matthäus as an illustrator. I find her work to be very charming. The original version of Saint Petersburg is far superior for me, mostly because of the illustrations. I also like her work on El Grande.

Nah, for it to count as radio you need over-the-air electromagnetic RF modulated transmission! Sirius is just listening to a data stream from the internet... They both count as listening to music or at least what passes for music today. ;-D

I like Terraforming Mars and I like Race for the Galaxy, but I own neither. Maybe I should get Terraforming Mars: Ares Expedition

Marvel Champions is easily one of my favorite games right now. But man, FFG is completely killing me with the upcoming cycle. Sinister Motives looks awesome but then they are pivoting to a bunch of garbage for the hero packs. And then into X-Men now when there is still a bunch of high quality heroes to do? Just kind of off when they will be obligated to stick with mutants for some time. Very likely switching to a la carte after sinister motives after buying everything to date.

...maybe Roy should do 'how to play' videos 😋 I learnt Heroes of Land, Air and Sea from Rodney Smith via his channel (Watch It Played) and he's a great teacher too. I would love to have been taught by Roy but I'm in the UK 🇬🇧

So is Mike in the illuminati? Well given how smart he is I would be suprised if he wasn't. They probably recruited him when they saw how much solo gaming he does and how hard it is for him to find other players with the same caliber as he is then they said "That guy, we need THAT".

@@DTChrisYi That's how you do it, slip it right under their noses. It's like a slow poisoning - the gang unknowingly assimilating more and more of your essence into their bodies every day, as you slowly gain control of their small minds! I have to say, I am proud! Did I go too far? lol

I think it's funny to see Zee calling out Tom for being in the minority for liking Vabanque. Zee is literally in the minority for every game on his list (except Targi).

The King of Area Control is Dune. I would also accept Starship Samurai and Inis as valid answers.

Wingspan is fun but having the first row and last column shoved into the margins of the board is not great design. Couldn't they make the board a scoach bigger?

Terrible card game with 4 letter name (Faro). Mike: The Crew. 🤣

That image that was used for the setup of detective club was horrible. Someone needs to either take a new photo or get better at rotoscoping images. It hurt my eyes to look at it.

"Ares Expedition" leaves out every single thing I love about "Terraforming Mars" (card drafting, the unusual area control on the board, choosing placement bonuses, milestones & awards, 1 or 2 actions turn structure, having to buy the cards, energy, ...) and added just randomness and mechanics from "Race for the Galaxy" that I don't like! And I really don't like the 'new' art style and graphic design. It's way worse than in TFM!

Tom loves randomness and abhors player interaction outside of dueling games and “take that” games. When you keep that in mind, his love for Ares Expedition and Ark Nova over Terraforming Mars makes a lot more sense.

Not really a fan of Mike's intro music. It doesn't feel like the same quality as the others. Not nearly as catchy of a tune.

If any of these Vikings games had a Marvel theme (as in MCU) I think I would be WAY more interested.

Why did you keep Mike as a permanent and not Roy. I feel like Mike fills the same gap the other guests fill but Roy fills the adventure gap that no one else does. Nothing against Mike or the other guys. All of you guys are friendly and have a good match. It just feels like Mike and the others have similar impact on the group. But Roy added a much more fun young dynamic.

There is nothing wrong with not preferring Euros. If you don't prefer them, then you don't prefer them. We come to this channel to get Ameritrash (and party and social deduction) recommendations, and take everything else with a grain of salt. Don't have to pretend you're something you're not. We like Ameritrash too, but it doesn't hurt to go elsewhere for Euro needs. Saying "Tom likes Euros" is fine, but a bit suspect, when the half dozen games or so listed are all super old, no new games appear like the Ameritrash ones. Keeps riding the Puerto Rico, St. Petersburg, Pulsar, Caverna, and a couple other Uwe games' coattails year in and year out for so long. Just own up to it.
