The White Castle quickly jumped to 13 for me. It's a great puzzle, fun at every player count, a small package, and doesn't take that long to play.

Tiny Epic Galaxies, along with Catan and Ticket to Ride: Europe, were the games that really pulled me into the hobby. Welcome! Take it from someone who digested a ton of Top 10/100 lists and purchased too many games as a result: play the games before you buy them, if you can. Quite a few games are are similar in mechanics and after a while, you develop a couple of favorites, leaving third stringers to languish and take up space. Or, if you get into my situation, develop a system of constant culling.

I'm going to have to rewatch older ones, I don't remember when Inventions showed up. Love that game so much. Have you played the expansion for Underwater Cities yet? It really adds a lot to the game without a ton more overhead.

Lots of great games. My favorite on this list is Arc Nova and higher on my list. The most intriguing game to me is Kanban Ev. I had wanted to try and get Automania, but Kanban Ev looks way cooler. I want to like Heat... I played Heat like 4 times already I should like Heat, the components are good, the mechanisms are interesting but somehow... I rather play Downforce. I guess that at the end of the day it's just not for me 🤣

I’m still on the fence. It’s getting better for me but one area still causes me concern. It seems like everyone is always close in the game. I can’t decide if I like that everyone could win or if that means what I do doesn’t matter much.

I missed you guys on the last con back in October, hopefully I run into you on this one, I would love to say hi : ) (I don't get to play many board games because I work 12-hour shifts every day, expect Sundays, but as I am on the road working, your guy's content always keeps me entertained and informed, so I would love to say thank you personally 🙏

Faiyum IS a great game. The only one on this list I agree with.

I have mixed feelings on Heat. I love it for how strategic and competitive it is, but I would have preferred for it to be on the lighter side to be able to table it with non-gamers.

You should give Flamme Rouge a try. It’s by the same designer and is a lighter, faster playing version of Heat. I like heavy games but I actually prefer Flamme Rouge and it’s great for non-gamers.

I want to like too many bones. It looks like a great games. But even experienced players spend so much time in the Rulebooks. If the first few sessions I need to endure before I can start appreciating it, if I have to spend more time in a Rulebooks, if gameplay is not intuitive, it’s not for me.

The base rules of the game itself are simple. Two pages you can summarize them all. Then, lock picking, and the minigame add a bit. And every gearlock almost doubles the rules overhead. Or that's what it feels like to me. Still a ton of fun. But I'm never 100% certain that I'm playing correctly.

I think it's highly likely you will find Elder Scrolls Betrayal of the Second Era quite appealing. I suspect/hope it will have... less of the things that are holding you back, and more of its strengths (the humor and componentry and the otherwise solid gameplay).

Totally agree with "If (the) gameplay is not intuitive, it's not for me" and the sentiment of wanting to like Too Many Bones. Love the asymmetry and the dice rolling, but constantly having to reference your skill sheet and the monster keywords, as well as the one-shot skills, just killed my enthusiasm for it.

@@ThomasHelms amen to that. I love dice! And the production of this game is amazing. It’s the sort of game i could get crazy collecting. But every review and playthrough has the players constantly in the Rulebooks.

I honestly think that's totally fair. Too Many Bones (and let's be honest, many of Chip Theory games) tend to be prohibitively complex. The base rules for Too Many Bones actually isn't that complicated, but each gearlock is very deep and takes a lot of exploring, and there are SO. MANY. EDGE. CASES. And you end up spending a ton of time googling questions. But for me it's still worth it.

Ah here we go. These games have almost no trashy qualities, other that there are 10 more games which are better. I’d buy and play these games, but only from the second hand market. I might play them once every two years. I’d keep them on my shelf.
