Great selection of band I don't agree with the first place, though. I can't deny the talent of led zepelin they one of my favorite, too. But the Beatles will always get the first place for and almost endless list of first things.

The majority are excellent.

Been lucky enough to see 23 of these acts live, 8 of the top 20, and 4 of the top 10. Greatest era of music. I feel blessed.

We all agree there could be a lot more bands included but it's a wonderful thing to be reminded of all the great music we had the privilege to listen to over the years. I'm blessed to have lived through all of it. Long live rock and roll!

It's all subjective. Everyone's list would be different. Like I think there's a difference between rock,and pop. The monkees wouldn't have been on my list.

Yeah this is not a list of classic rock, more like a list of bands this person likes! Very Random. Dont agree with a lot of choices. Velvet Underground and Grateful Dead are not in this category. Supertramp should be much higher. Not a mention of Rare Earth, James gang, Pat Travers, Mott, Ted Nugent, the list is infinite! Oh and has anyone heard of Johhny Winter? Dumb list

Good list. The Cult, Max Webster, Kim Mitchell, Deep Purple, and the Black Crowes would be on my list.

It's cool The Eagles are always making these lists. However not one of them show them playing a song other than Hotel California. They have an entire catalogue of great songs...but it just shows the power and magic of that particular one.

Scorpions 69th ? Black Sabbath 33th ? And where the hell is Rainbow ? This list is a joke lol.

Faltó Tambien mencionar a Rare Earth o es que nadie se acuerda de sus exitos: Get Ready, Ma, Big Brother, I losing you, etc, etc. Tampoco se menciona Atlanta Rhythm Section. Pero Bueno, ya sabemos que el que hizo la lista tiene el gusto algo perdido.

Yardbirds contributed the most to the existence of many of today's Rock Dinosaurs. They created the rock music of the sixties and laid the foundation for many great bands. Many of them learned what the music of that time should be like. Top musicians went through the band and deserved the very top of this list.

Imagine starting the career of Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, and Jeff Beck and being almost unknown and getting almost no recognition

See a few mention The Beatles. They were never a rock band in a million years. Having the odd “heavier” sound doesn’t make them a rock band. They went from cheesy pop band to experimental. While The Beatles were singing Help, Michelle, She Loves You etc, The Kinks and The Who were releasing You Really Got Me , All Day and All Of The Night, My Generation, Anywhere Anyhow Anywhere etc.

Motörhead can't be outside the top 100 in my opinion. "We are Motörhead and we play rock-'n'-roll". A good mix of styles though.

Same, I love both bands, maybe Led Zeppelin a bit more, Led Zeppelin are maybe more talentful when looking at instruments, but if you compare that with the Songwriting of the Beatles ... it is just a hard choise to make but I think that the Bealtes are the best.

My second pic: Beatles, 3rd Frank Zappa, only the best played for him! what a musical genius!) 4th: listen to the Cars when Ben Orr sings (another Rock talent ). 5: Cream is always great! 6: Old Stones was so good (Brian Jones era). 7: was Emerson, Lake And Palmer ( these guys had so much talent! I would not put oldies bans in classic rock or bands like the Bee Gees. I do not know if even most punk bands are classic rock. Metal can be I thnk but maybe not the fringes. Waht is clasdic rock. It is so subjective. Better to have top progressive, metal, punk, etc lists. Those seem more straightforward although what list or lists would a band like Rush fall in? They fall into many categories and none completely. Progressive yet not just progressive. Have some almost metal songs. Defintely a huge prog metal influence. They would be in the teens in most lists they would be on but not the top of any becasue they changed their sound based upon how their art dictated.

number 4 should be at least number 2 they have done so much again and again for classic rock music over the years.

Even though I don't agree with your choices or placement of the bands you deserve props for putting in the effort and posting the list but I do have a criticism question How is it possible to have overlooked Humble Pie?

I'm glad that the beatles or queen aren't number one sometimes 😂 i love led zeppelin !

Most of the bands on this list are fine - though there are some oddities which are strange and pretty obscure - the problem is the ranking - i know that it is personal preference - but to not have the most influential band in rock history ( by a country mile) at number 1 is contrary to say the least

the who's b sides & outtakes are better than any other bands entire catalogue imho

My top 10: LED Zeppelin Pink Floyd The Police The Doors The Who Green Day Nirvana The Rolling Stones The Beatles The Clash Not ranked for 1-10 or 10-1 but those are my personal top 10

The Beatle were first by date only! Led Zeppelin by having the best Drummer, Guitarist, Bass, and distinctively Amazing Rock Singer, puts them on a level that can’t be matched! So many albums! Great songs! And they knew when it was over! The Stones never had anything after Brian Jones passed! But they still irritate us with there same old stuff, (and I mean their last 50 long years of mediocre stuff.) Many one hit wonders were in the top 100?

Zeppelin was a supergroup made up of professional musicians hand picked by Page to piggyback on the success of the Yardbirds. They mainly copied blues music and made it as a template for their songs. The Beatles started off as teenagers and learned to play music and write songs together, played in bars and clubs to develop their sound and became the biggest band in the world in their early 20’s and started a music revolution.

Why isn't there : Uriah Heep, UFO, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest,,Black Sabbath ?
