@Ceejay Dennes I think it was actually a very simple yet beautifully designed livery. I never liked the temperature of the colours they used, but I liked the way the lines flowed. I think the only very real flaw was the lack of sponsors, as it made the car look empty and missing something.

Hated it when I first saw it now I actually think it’s my favourite livery on the grid. I think 2020 Williams looks worse than 2019.

The 2019 Williams (FW42) is, in all possible ways, a tub of toothpaste. Generates as much downforce as one lol.

I have to disagree with Tommo on the 2016 Manor. I saw it in real life at the Silverstone tests. Definitely red, not orange. It was absolutely gorgeous. Best car of the decade for me. (I’m a bit bored of sponsors dictating the colours, you see)

the "launch spec" 2015 McLaren livery was a great idea executed poorly - trying to invoke the nostalgia of the Hakkinen era but the lack of sponsors (or driver's names on the sidepods) just didn't help it

The 2012 Sauber is my favorite F1 car ever imo it looks good :(

@@alexthegreat7518 That is an incredibly hard decision as they all are incredibly nice looking. I would put 2008 MP4-23 first (chassis wise) as the McLaren 2008 chassis in my opinion then was so unique. But I would say livery wise, the MP4-27 as it was incredibly smooth, and sleek. Then the MP4-13 as It was the true beginning of the silver cars rise and fall (as Mika Hakkinen won back to back championships) Then I would put the MP4-23 last.

2017 is worse

The 2016 manor being on this list breaks my soul

1- Sauber C32: Did a good job covering up that horrendous step-nose tbh, unjustified. It should be the C29, the unsponsored depressing shadow of what was once BMW Sauber. 2- Williams FW42: I looked at this and then the concept arts that some people did and it made me want to cry, so much potential with the Orlen sponsor had been wasted. 3- Lotus E22: Twin tusk nose aside this one gives it a pretty good mix of gold and red, I think the E23 Hybrid should be on here instead. 4- Williams FW35: Funnily enough only noticeable on the side. Still can’t compare to the FW34 which has more flow to it. 5- Sauber C34: Yeah they could’ve added a little more the the car tbh. 6- Mclaren MCL32: Undeserved, the MP4-30 or the MP4-31 deserve to be there. 7- Manor MRT05: Oh boi you deserve a tactical drone strike for this one. Manor was practically dead at this point desperately looking for sponsors. The HRT F111 deserves to be here a lot more if anything. 8- Ma****ia MR02: Eh don’t have anything to say for this one. 9- Mercedes-AMG MGP W02: Meh, plain. Just plain 10- Ferrari F2012: _2012 Ferrari feels bad man_ Dishonorable mentions: The HRTs, 2014 Mclaren MP4-29, 2015 Mclaren MP4-30 (Both iterations), 2016 Mclaren MP4-31, 2018 Mclaren MCL33, 2014 Caterham CT05, 2015 Lotus E23 Hybrid, 2019 HAAS VF-19 (Fuck you Rich Energy), 2015 Red Bull RB11, 2016 HAAS VF-16, 2010 Sauber C29

I thought those orange stripes was not only the new colour associated with the car company (since I often saw the MP4-12C, their 1st new car in quite a while since the F1, in orange) (like how Ferrari is associated with red), but also to hide their decline in sponsors' logos on the MCL-32 (compared to the MP4-28 & earlier)

Tommo F1 the orange stripe on the McLaren in 2017 is actually the McLaren logo between the black.

Great picks, but I would pull a controversial move of my own: Swap the 2017 McLaren with the 2018. The papaya orange looks great, the blue looks great. it's just the way it's executed. I don't even mind the 2017 livery, it's just they pulled it off SO MUCH better in 2019 with the same colours (compared to 2018.) Anyone else agree that the 2018 McLaren looks pretty bad?

The only thing that made the livrery better was the Asturian colors on the fin on Alonso's last race. For the rest, even cheering for McLaren I'm not at all a fan of their recent trademark blue-papaya combo, or of the papaya in general. Still now they use a darker orange for the stock 570S GT4, and there were those tones like the Volcano Orange for the P1, or that one in wich the MP4-12C is often seen. Maybe that explains why the 2017 one is a personal all-time favorite of mine, right thanks to that wrong shade of orange.

Personally I think the 2019 Haas was a terrible looking car. Also, I'm a fan of the 2019 Williams, it's the first car I pick when racing 2019 F1.

Jon Martin Well the livery at first was necessarily based around the Indian flag, then they mixed it in with a bit of black which I liked a lot before going full on pink

Really nice, concise video, even if I didn't agree with all of them (2016 Manor ;)). Video length was perfect for me watching this at 5mins to midnight lol. Agreed on the Sauber’s, the ones you showed are so bleeding bland. I use to love the metallic blue liveries they had from 1996-2005, it was their identity for quite sometime and it always stood out from the rest of the grid. I’ve always had a soft spot for the 2016 Manor colours but yeah it’s not the best. Keep up the great work Tommo 🏁👍

Also, I think you should replace the 2011 Merc with the 2010 Merc, the oily black streak and the colours of the font just do it in for me. Yes yes, it's their first year and I should cut them some slack but then again in RB's first year they had a decent livery.

The quality of the image is awesome and the depth of field is striking and cool. For me, there's not a ton of contrast between you and the walls to the sides, so the colors can blend together a bit. Definitely not bad thing though, especially if that's what you're going for!

Great video, agree with most of the choices here. I actually thought that the 2019 Williams looked fairly decent. Sure it wasn’t the best livery on the grid and not was it the best they’ve ever done, but I think they’ve done a lot worse in this decade, mainly back when they had that awful navy with white lining colour scheme. I think a worse livery was the 2016 Renault. The predominantly black with yellow lining today looks great, but just that ugly golden yellow with only a little black on the wings and back of the car look horrible. It just looked lazy and it made the car seem really chunky and fat. Anyway, great video, can’t wait to see more soon!

Here are in my opinion the Worst Liveries of 2010-2020 10. 2010 Ferrari (With the big barcode on the engine cover) 09. 2016 Renault (Return of the constructor Renault, but just all yellow livery and nothing more) 08. 2013 Marussia (years before where odd, but special, this is just bland) 07. 2013 McLaren (The last i believe with Vodafone, just not as sharp as the previous years) 06. 2013 Red Bull (The purple Infinity on the sidepods feels like a afterthought, and looked better in 2014) 05. 2011 HRT (This could be you!) 04. 2010 Merdeces (The first of the Mercedes team, especially the nose) 03. 2010 Sauber (The black from the sidepod accentuates the high nose) 02. 2019 Williams (Just no...) 01. 2010 Renault (Same colours as today, but the pattern is just a mess) Cheers

The reason a team like Marussia with few sponsors are 'safe' with their designs is because they are hoping to pick up sponsors during the season, and so will need space for the extra logos.

Having looked back over the last ten years (including this years if it ever starts) of all liveries, my top 10 does have a number of what has made your top 10. Here is my list as follows; 10. Marussia 2012 - Red and black lines diagonally just doesn't look right 9. Manor 2016 - The Black, Red and Blue just doesn't blend well on the car. It's like the black stops the flow 8. Williams 2019 - Turquoise blue lines that look like they've been sprayed on a white car 7. Lotus 2012 - Don't like the gold isn't flowed through the car and like last year has red on the end-plates 6. Lotus 2013 - Don't look right, more red on the side of the car mixed with black & gold (just wrong) 5. Lotus 2014 - Thought it couldn't get it any worse then they put more red on the car and the ugly wings 4. Haas 2017 - Shocking colours battle ship grey, with mainly red and a bit of black near the back. Awful. 3. Sauber 2011 - More logos/sponsors, still boring with a bit of black on a plain white livery 2. Sauber 2010 - Know the team was lacking sponsors, pretty much a bland car, just doesn't look good 1. Sauber 2012 - Diagonal black areas on a white livery is the worst and just looks like a rush job, boring. So agree Tommo with the Sauber being the worst but not because of the Chelsea sponsorship that season :D Had 4 the same as you in top 10 (including the worst car of all!) Though, was surprised you went for the Williams 2013 car in 4th... i always like those liveries as they remind me of the beautiful Rothmans cars from the 1990s. Though the worst designed wings were those awful 'anteater' noses in 2014 (so shocking) especially the Lotus and then the 2012 stepped platypus noses were not great either. What were the designers thinking! Let's hope they never go back down that path as they were not pretty to look at. It's the 2014 cars that would give many Formula 1 fans nightmares!

I love the 2019 Williams. The blue and white pop along with the black to set off the tires. Love the blacked out look.

Notice how the McLaren livery in recent years has been themed on transition. In 2016 it was black, 2017 it was Orange and Black, 2018 it was Full Orange with a hint of blue, 2019 Orange and Blue, and finally 2020 it is Half Orange half blue. I expect in the coming years the McLaren livery will go to full blue.

come on, you cant call the 2016 manor a default livery, they literally put alot of effort into it, and it blended with their whole retro theme that year, even their social media channels when they posted pictures it had a retro tint/filter! theres also the manor logo on the orange part of the engine cover, the design was deliberate and there are small touches here and there man
