well to be honest gen 2 busa is a beginner bike i have it , it has 3 modes ABC,A is 1200 cc , B is 1000 , C is 600 so when i started on it i built up my confidence in mode C then i slowly advanced so i guess busa really is coz lets face it busa is the most reliable bike ever built 🥹

ALWAYS go in slower than you think you can just make..... and give her a squirt on the way out if you like but never ever go in too hot - because you'll have no room to recover.... there could be some leaves lying on the road, a diesel spill.... I'VE HAD THEM. old bike dude here trying to help you buddy. ok? once you work out the limits, you'll be ok. leave superfast $hit to the track (as long as there is plenty runoff and you don't mind burning $6,000 in repairs if you get it wrong) otherwise RESPECT THAT BIKE mate.... its seriously quick and can get you into a lot of trouble. Take care..... No joke....

I actually started on a Ninja 650 last month, and the scariest thing is that I picked that bike 150miles away (craiglist), and rode it back (as my first ride) through freeways, but man, that was AWESOME.

Here in germany we are full of panigale and bmw s1000rr guys and you just see them lose control and fall on parked cars

I know you're joking but still H2R is track only bike. Also it's limited edition from 2015 they don't sell them right now. Even if you get one you can't ride it on the street so it's a useless bike unless you're going to the track. Also he shown h2 and h2r photo as well.

Sold it then bought a ZX10R cause the deal was nice for it from this guy. Now my ZX10R will be my true bike I learn on since I didn’t really get to experience the R6

I agree, I used to ride trials bikes when I was younger. My firstbroadbike was a hornet 600 had that for 6 months and bought a zx9r. Point being, the person thats riding the bike is in control not the other way round. Literally the only thing is weight difference when it comes to beginners.

3:55 I hate that within my friend circle, I know a few Silicon Valley Techbros who bought a 1299 as a starter sheerly to flex it as a luxury item then get scared of it going 15mph in a parking lot cause they can't figure out the transition between the friction zone and putting enough throttle into gear, but not too much where the bike lurches forward (Pretty easy to do when you start on a 1299...gotta learn the twist of the wrist on something slower). Like this should only be a one time occurrence, but I know 3 people who did this. The fact that it's in this video means Yams has also seen people do this. The things people do for Status Symbols man...

Hey Yammie. Been watching your videos for a year or two now. Just got my Class M! Thanks for teaching about motorcycles in an entertaining fashion, and growing the interest to ride on two wheels in me and many others!

As someone who at 35 just started to learn how to ride, I can say that not only would I dropped a bigger bike, but I'd probably have snapped my ankles doing so. Learning on a light, 125cc machine meant not only were my mistakes easier to control but, I could actually hold the bike from dropping.

@@dannya.2296 Hey, all bikes are different. I loved vee twin 1000's - mine could pull up the front wheel at 2700RPM easily. I swapped with some 600 guys (ZX6 and CBR600) and after getting over bottom end power deficiency, rang their necks out on the RPM and was surprised how fast they really were? I get pissed off at the track when little 600's nip inside me on tight turns and I cannot out turn them!!!!!!! But give me a thumping vee twin or V four anyday...... try one?

At 59, I just got my first bike, a beautiful Honda Rebel 300, matte black with a candy apple red gas tank. And it's been pouring rain all day ever since I got it!! Hubby is an experienced rider, and its getting a bigger bike, probably a Harley. I think the Rebel is the perfect starter bike for me. Good list and great video. I started on a 600cc Honda cruiser many moons ago. Moved up to a 750cc Kawasaki cruiser years later. Was doing good. Next was the Yamaha R6. Great bike and in the wilds of Utah, it was a blast. Now I was ready for a liter bike. Bought a Z1000 and that's the first bike I did track days on near Tooele. Great experience. Since have settled down because I was going WAY to fast on that bike. Now it's a Harley Low Rider. 😁 Keep the rubber side down.

The thing I really appreciate about my Ktm 390 duke is how forgiving it is. Ive been riding in the january cold with cheap bulky gloves and mishandled the clutch/throttle a few times in low gear... if i was on the mt07 or cb650r i was eyeing i might have yeeted myself into pain.

The one good thing about goldwings is that their center of gravity is so low. I rode an older one (early 90s) and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be

The GL1500 is an awesome bike. Though I disagree with Papa Yam, they are easy to pick up if you know the technique

I just got my first bike early last summer. My starter is an 83 kz550 LTD with the shaft drive. She's been pretty solid and has some power that I can tell is there, but I'm 41 now and not looking to play around much. I think I've put about 5000 miles on her over this past year.

Just had my first ride.. God damn that was fun. Starting on a nighthawk 750 Upgraded to mt09 after 3 months... Love it!

I started driving a motorcycle when I was 7. I learned from a motorcycle with sidecar just to not be worrying at my balance because I was too short during that time that I can't even touch the ground with one foot. The best thing when you start with a tricycle/(motorbike with sidecar) is you can focus on the clutch and gear operation without thinking or worrying about your balance. The first motorcycle that I used to drive when I was 7 years old was a Yamaha RX 135 4 speed(5 speeds are not available in the Philippines), that bike started my passion for 2 wheels and after a few years, my dad got a Tmx 155 /CG 155 Honda and I have also use that as a practice bike when I was able to touch the ground with both feet flat. See, i started with small bikes and it helped me to develop my balancing and basic fundamentals on riding a bike because the power of those bikes are managable and beginner friendly. In my own opinion, if you are planning to ride and buy a bike for the first time, choose a bike below 150 cc and has a friendly posture and power so that you can learn how to utilize the power of the bike properly, because if you will start with 400 cc and up, you would just give yourself a ticket going to the emergency room of the nearest hospital around.

I've ridden my sons modified R6. You could, in theory, ride it timidly and keep the revs under 4k. It'll do 80mph in first gear and wheelie at 60 mph. Get 5000 miles before you buy the death rocket IMO. I have a cbr650r as my first real bike(after a 250 ninja). It's not fly by wire throttle. The clutch and brakes are excellent. That R6 was terrifying though IMO. It's very fast to 8k rpm after that HP doubles and it's in lose your lic territory. That fly by wire throttle has a tiny range of motion.

The street 500 by HD is pretty light low powered and forgiving. But price is too high for a first bike unless you get a used one. In 2004 I bought a 2000 Kwai eliminator 125 and learned on. Low slid in 17Aug2005 in the rain (wasn’t my first rainy ride) because I got stupid and raced my buddy on his 125 enduro. Next bike was a YZF 750R circa 1996. These days I ride a custom 750 shadow around town and longer trips I’m on a 2013 StreetGlide. After 15 years of riding I’ll say the size of the bike doesn’t matter nor does the speed, it’s the freedom, wind in your face, and enjoying riding with the other bike that count. Love the videos Yam always interesting and your delivery it what makes them the most watchable informative videos! Keep up bud

I just bought an S1000R 20 model as my first bike, but I am 43yo this year, I race aero race cars and was raised on push bikes and dirt bikes, does it make me any better on a road bike, no and yes. My car racing has taught me a lot, patience, inching up the progression scale and learning that the road is not a safe place compared to the track. I have only just power wheelied in 3rd on the R, but nothing more than that. I am learning all about feet positions, upper body movement and trying to be smooth everywhere. One thing I do find hard that I am working on, braking early, you just can't brake late on a bike, so that is my biggest area of learning atm. The power is great, but I have had 500kw GTR's etc, so I don't get all crazy for feeling the power every 10 seconds, although it def pulls like a freight train. I have never been that good at wheelies, so i am quite happy just to power wheelie if it the bike needs to, but other than that, I will keep the front wheel on the road. Last but not least, i am over 40 now and boy it feels so good to be too, I feel more in control of my life that ever, there is so much fun to be had when you don't lose your head to the fast bug all the time, sure going fast is great and I do, but knowing when to do it makes the world of difference. Anyway, just thought I'd share my experience about having a 1000cc for my first road bike.

I got a ninja 400 2018 the krt edition same as the standard edition just nicer graphics but I love it I’m getting it flashed this week and I think it’s an awesome starter bike I’ve learnt so much from it and it’s helped me gain confidence even tho I grew up on dirt bikes I’ve found a smaller bike to start on the road has helped

I’m starting a 2019 z900 in April. Got 2 grand left to pay on it. Can’t wait!! U can start on any bike but like yamm said try to keep it on the lighter side me personally anything under 500 pounds and u should be good as long as u feel comfortable. Respect the bike be mature and treat the throttle like a newborn baby. Don’t be mr show off or you’ll get thrown off. Safe riding peeps!

Z900 is one of the worst bikes to start on. It's very torquey down low(Very hard to control for inexperienced rider) with a lot of top end power and it's heavy for mid naked category. Let's not mention that it lacks any rider modes or aids. This bike is a wheelie machine. You should've done some more research before.

Yeah I kno a bit crazy but I don’t have extra money to waste on anything. Always wanted one since they came out in 2017. Slow n steady short shifts. Riding on roads with not much traffic for awhile to start. And it’s weight is not bad I sat on Z650 I felt 10x bigger than the bike and cramped. Not to mention I hate twin engines always wanted a inline 4. And I don’t like being leaned over like a supersport.

How was it? My first bike is a 95' CBR 1000f my father gave me. Going for my A license starting next month and i'm wondering what the learning curve is when compared to the CBF 600 the driving school uses.

i remember i was down in Cape Cod once on vacation and there was a guy at the convenience store with a S1000 RR. i was checking the bike out and talking to him and he had just bought it to ride around the cape on vacation, had just got his motorcycle license that summer. hope you're still alive dude. (at least he had decent gear)

My first bike was a 2000 Kawasaki ZX-12R with the 220 mph speedometer! I had it up to about 170mph within my first week of ever riding a motorcycle! Lucky to be alive!✌

Since I already had experience riding dirt bikes, I chose a KLR 650 as my first street bike. It’s seemed like the thing to do because it was a familiar feel in the seat.

I started on a 2007 Honda CBR 600RR and after 10 years I still have it. Seven months ago I bought a 2013 Victory Vegas 8-Ball. I love riding both styles. I’m looking for a third street bike to add to the pack.

My beginner bike was a Suzuki gs500, ive learned a lot on it. I miss it a little bit.

@@zombeloffical Good! Do it. Nuda is nice bike. Here in Finland they are so rare. Few years ago there were like 3-5 bikes for sale but nowdays you are lucky to find even one. Price tag is also something like 9-10k euros.

Great advice. Therefore I went & placed an order for a sensible, light and humble CBR1000RR-R.

I started on a 600rr, no previous experience with dirt bikes, wheelers, or sleds…….just fell in love with the orange/w black flames, and had to have one. 🤷🏼‍♂️ I will definitely say the learning curve was very steep, and I had frame sliders installed before I ever rode it, cause I was so nervous, but I think the touchy throttle and brakes gave me more respect for the machine, cause after a few weeks of riding it around I took a safety course and I was on a 250 rebel. By day 2 of the safety course I was intentionally flogging the piss outta the 250 trying to see how fast I could get it and so forth. I think I would have been doing the same on my own bike had I bought something small like that, till I did something stupid and ended up injuring myself. 🤷🏼‍♂️ hard saying.

Started on a lowered 600 😂 she ripped then I got rid of it to get an old enduro haha

Came across this video and wanted to bring my two cents to the table. Having wanted a motorcycle all my life but never really got around to take the plunge, partly because of the likelihood of getting disowned by my family due to its inherent danger, I decided to finally buy one little over 10 years ago at the age of 44. The bike I decided to get my feet wet with was a new Kawasaki ninja 250. I felt it was the right choice to gain some experience and see how I’d like the feeling of being out in traffic surrounded by vehicles, and nothing around me for protection from them. My very first ride home from the dealer I was glad I was wearing a shaded face shield helmet so other motorists wouldn’t see the fear in my eyes lol. Determined to grow into the experience I pushed myself to ride it as often as I could taking longer and longer trips. I soon gained great confidence on it but at the same time I quickly realized that I couldn’t zoom by cars like I saw the other sport bikes do. I decided to purchase a performance exhaust after 6 months of owning my bike to see if I could get a few more horses out of my little engine. Excited i had the exhaust shipped to the motor sports dealer for installation. While there waiting for my exhaust installation, I was checking out the new bikes for sale and of course while at it I was approached by a salesman asking me if I was interested in a new bike. I said no, not really, I’m just getting a new exhaust for my bike because I can’t really make the performance moves I see on the bigger bikes, and quite frankly the bike experience had begun to fade. Not to mention my bike used a carburetor and had to be warmed up to avoid engine shut off, a pain in the ass. The salesman stated, “have u considered upgrading to a bigger bike instead? I thought to myself, hum, not really, but I’m certainly open to suggestions. There I was at a crossroads; wait to see the performance gained from my new exhaust, or just trade in my little bike and go bigger. Well I’m sure you all know which route I took....I went for the bigger bike!!! That day I rode out of there with a Honda CBR1000RR !!! Let me try to relate to you what the experience was like. The first thing I noticed was I had to re-learn the throttle cause the slightest motion of it was this overwhelming rush of POWER!! The whole ride home was a frightening experience, but I remembered I felt the same way when I purchased the little 250, so I figured I’d just grow into it. I really had to force myself to ride this bike and stop fearing it. The first day I took it out for a night ride after bringing it home I had my first mishap! I reached a corner and stopped at the stop sign to make a right turn, this was a taller bike so I had to stand on the tip of my toes, however, the road slanted heavily to my right so when I went to put my right foot down I kept feeling for the pavement and there was none to set my foot on! The weight of the bike overtook me and I fell over. There I was laying on the corner like a dumbass with the heavy bike on me! Fortunately the guy behind me got out of his car and came out to help me lift the bike back up. To this day I’m surprised I didn’t break my right wrist which took the full force breaking my fall with my own weight and that of the bike. That night I rode it with even more fear and seriously thought I had made the wrong choice. I wanted my little 250 back. Determined to master my fear I accepted there was no turning back and I was going to become proficient in conquering this beast. To make a long story short I did manage to grow into it and fell in love with this bike. Unfortunately I began riding doing all the stupid things I promised myself never to do, including speeds well approaching the 200 mark!!! To make matters even worse the night I rode that fast I was coming home from a friends house after a bit a liquid courage (Captain Morgan) , that’s insane!!! After owning my 250 for six months and upgrading to my 1000 , my CBR got stolen after only six months of owning it. I lived on the 3rd floor of an apt building so my bike stayed outside. I kept it with a motorcycle cover and a 110 decibel disk brake clip on alarm but someone had cut through that with a blow torch! So even if I had it chained to a pole if they’re using blow torches to cut through metal, they’ll get what they want. I knew they used a blow torch cause there was molten metal on the asphalt. I never replaced my bike cause I realized it would be a matter of time before it got stolen again, and quite frankly maybe it was for the better, as I was getting way too dangerous on that bike. I’ve put in this long post to give a little history on my brief ONE YEAR bike ownership, but the real reason I put in this post is because in the 10 years since I last owned a bike I’ve done extensive research into the motorcycle fatality rate over the years and I was shocked that on average more than 4000 lives end EVERY YEAR, in motorcycle fatalities.This got me thinking there is this DEATH QUOTA REQUIRED every year off motorcycle drivers that is somehow met WITHOUT FAIL. This strongly made me reconsider that I’m lucky that my bike was stolen, cause it seems based on those numbers that it’s really not a matter of if you will be killed on the bike, it’s of matter of what year YOUR NUMBER IS UP!!! Like I said every year there are going to be at least 4000 killed, and those numbers are only growing. Anyone considering buying a motorcycle should consider this objectively, and make an informed decision before taking the plunge. You’ll never see those numbers displayed on the wall of your local motorsports dealer!!! Food for thought.

You pussy. I been riding since the day after I turned 18. Yea my pa wouldn't let me have a motorcycle when I was growing up so soon as I could I BOUGHT one and mastered the ever lovin shit outta it. Started with a kawasaki H2 3 cyl 2 stroke bat out of hell, moved up to a GS850E then got a Liter bike. I have owned a CBR1000RR REPSOL and loved that thing. Adrenaline Rush every time you take it out. Now I don't do nearly 200 every single time I take it out, but, I never fail to exceed the century mark, usually while shifting into 2nd gear. But I only been riding for 43 years now. Yea sold off the crotch rocket and ride a Sport Tourer now, but, still like to hit them high numbers !!

Going by the UK stats, the majority of fatal incidents include alcohol, drugs & 125cc's The OP's small novel, reeks of personal rationalisation and justification. As for the hitting 200mph on a older honda CBR1000cc, ...the fireblade (honda CBR 1000RR) has a max claimed top speed of 178mph if a 6stone girl was ridding it. & that's without looking at the storyline of went to change tail pipe which would have minimal gains (not including de-cat'ing it) and instead purchased a 20k bike?

Damn here’s some food for though for you… you should of just kept the 250. You wouldn’t be so scared and your bike would still be in your parking space. You let that salesman talk you into that bike for performance reasons when really the question is, why would you get a 1000 in an apartment complex and not park it in your living room or sleep with it ? You messed up truly when you listened to that salesman’s sweet talk, now you’re beyond scared of even getting back on your little 250. So sad to hear man

I started off on a Honda Fury. Got about 4,000 accident free miles on it so far. I did take an MSF course before I started riding though.

I think a beginner bike should always be a 250-400 and then upwards. 1. More time to respond in situations. Forgiving throttle response. Small, light and nimble. The KTM RC390 / Duke 390 are the perfect motorcycles for beginners.

Suzuki SRAD 600 Y variant, last of the original, utterley mental and point and shoot stable, and weighed a ton, lasted 6 months, then traded upto a 2006 Aprilia 1000 rsvr gen 2..... luv it.
