In german that line is going into a completely different direction... one that went fully above my head as a kid. "Du kämpfst wie meine Schwester" (you fight like my sister) "Ich hab schon mit deiner Schwester gekämpft, mit meinem besten Degen" (I've fought (with -> (along/against)) your sister, with my best rapier) Let's just say there is more than the safe, literal understanding of that phrase.

@@JerbilKonai i mean, there's only one meaning though, the english meaning. Whether germans translated it wrong or not, the line was a compliment toward the sister being a good fighter. Germans took it and made it "you foght like a girl", which has notoriously been an insult to men, saying they're weak. It's a shame that meaning is lost during translation. I grew up liking that line. Probanly a lot of boys grew up thinking it meant girls are weak like usual.

@@sporks3256 oh, its not an insult in german, more a hidden gem for the parents who can see the rapier for what it is. Especially since they are just doing a bit of a word fight to entertain, confuse others. One says something and the other comes up with a clever retort. Sometimes that will turn an insult into a compliment, other times it has a double meaning of sleeping with someone. And since they are such good friends they don't take the insults personally. They are just goofing around, which they can later call back to to trick the high priest. That at least is what I take from that scene. Yes, they don't compliment each other and the relationship is slightly different as they can joke about certain stuff, but they are still great buddies.

I really loved The Road to El Dorado, but hearing this fact makes me love it even more now. I don’t care what the critics and rotten tomatoes said, that movie was my childhood and it still holds up. No sequel needed it’s a perfect stand-alone movie.

Dreamworks has that addictive comedic charm in ALL of its movies. Knowing that nearly all of those scenes were improvised make them even more enjoyable AND hysterical!

I find a lot of DreamWorks movies to be funnier than a lot of comedies these days.

Well this doesn't surprise me, almost every animated film has at least one or two unscripted moments and the fact that even DreamWorks films do makes them even better!!!

Another unscripted line that is also one of my favorites is from HTTYD, when Stoick is praising Hiccup in their home and goes "Odin, I almost gave up on you!" Gerard Butler just threw it in and the writers were going to edit it out but decided to keep it because they thought it was pretty funny 😂

Shrek trying to act hip and cool is still one of the funniest scenes. While Shrek the third May not be the best of the franchise it definitely had some great jokes in it. That’s one franchise I’m always happy to watch when I can.

I remember watching an interview with either the director or a producer of Dreamworks talking about Shrek. According to him, “In the morning, I’m making waffles” was an improved line because after they showed the clip the guy was laughing like “I mean, waffles? NO ONE WAS TALKING ABOUT WAFFLES! 😂”

I loved watching the BTS feature for Road To El Dorado growing up, and just how fun both Kevin Klein and Kenneth Branagh had, especially with singing Tough To Be A God.

I don’t understand why El Dorado has bad reviews. It’s my second favorite Dreamworks movie behind Prince of Egypt.

Another one from Over the Hedge: reportedly, Thomas Haden Church, who voices Dwayne (the Verminator) ad-libbed the line: “Oh really? Do you in fact have an associates degree from VermTech?”

While Shrek the third is definitely my least favourite entry of the franchise, Shrek using modern lingo to try to appeal to Artie was certainly the funniest joke. Props to Mike for improvising it!

I’m so happy Road To El Dorado is getting attention. It’s easily one of my top three all time favourite movies.

There's actually an Easter egg in the opening credits where Rhoddy is starting his day and going through his wardrobe. One of the outfits he pulls out is Wolverine's suit from the 90's animated TV show. It's both an Easter egg and homage to Jackman's most well known character as MCU Wolverine

I was hoping some of the great memorable lines from Sinbad would be in here!

"Thank you for nothing, you useless reptile." I've always loved that line!

Fantastic choice with El Dorado! My kids and I say lines from the movie to this day!😂 We just love it.

Correct me if I’m wrong, But wasn’t the hilarious line in Shrek where he says “you’re going one way for a smack in the bottom” improvised. Now that I think about it, a majority of that movie had to have been improvised

Whenever, my mom would open the window in the car, I would shout “OPEN YOUR EYES!” and she would reply “ STICK TOU HEAD OUT THE WINDOW” 😂

Afro Circus is a hit in our house, makes everyone laugh anytime we hear it. Can't get over it being an adlib!

I’ve just watched ’The Road to El Dorado’ not too long ago, and I’m learning so much about it. 😂

Top 3 (In my opinion): 1. Ice cold Rita 2. Fiona's burp 3. The road to a hilarious movie These were the moments I did not know they were unscripted. The reason why I put Ice cold Rita was on top because the whole song was unscripted, and I never knew Hugh Jackmann had so much talent in acting and the fact he was able make up a song to put in a movie was amazing. Fiona's belch was unexpected and out of nowhere, it was unplanned and yet the actors manage to stay in character. And of course, the road to Eldorado, although I was going to put the Kung Fu Panda franchise up there cuz the series was mostly unscripted, but I decided to have more unscripted comedy up there because it's hilarious.

This is one of the reasons I love DreamWorks movies! Their voice actors are fantastic!

Saw a post yesterday about Bee movie, about the female bees have beehive hairstyles and the males have buzz cuts. Idk if I'm amused or annoyed that I never caught on 😆😆

Dreamworks neeeeeeds to go back to what it did in it’s early days like these. They took huge chances with these films, and they were AMAZING. What they’re pumping out now feels way too safe… over done… boring… OLD.

I'm so happy Flushed Away made it on here! One of my favorite childhoof movies!

I'm probably the only person in my state who prefers DreamWorks over Disney.

Improv has got to be really difficult for animated movies. CGI has the potential to be at least better with it since they can use facial mocap, but drawn cartoons especially most definitely have it rough when it comes to improv.

Improv in Animated movies.. don’t really make sense… Because the animators still then have to ANIMATE those scenes, so the characters look like they are actually saying them. Like the “bloopers” in Toy Story. They just add more hours to the animators schedule to put those in to make it seem like there’s bloopers.

I cant imagine the madagascar franchise without king julien. And All Hail King Julien is a masterpeice. Its like having an extended fever dream after reading someones madagacsar shitpost fanfiction.

Quick trivia about The Road to El Dorado...the original script was more of an equilateral love triangle. Miguel and Tulio were supposed to be in a relationship, with both of them being bisexual and also into Chel.

Pretty sure this isn't true. The only thing I found suggesting it was a Tumblr post (not really proof of anything). The original script hasn't been found and there was an interview with the creators (on a now defunct website) that talked about what was changed from the original script and there wasn't any mention of a relationship between the two.

your voice is nice and heard but the video out takes you use are all low and hard to hear without turning the volume up which in turns raises your voice which is already loud. I hope you all can fix this.
