@@cgaccount3669 Same as me. Saw it on a shitty cam (pirate) version when it came out. Just rewatched it a few nights ago, and damn, it's like a modern version of an 80's classic. The humour is in his efficiency and determination.

Children of Men also did a good job of making you feel like you're inside the movie.

Prisoners is so SO good!! I didn't have any expectations before watching it and was blown away by the performances and the thrill!!

Denis Villeneuve is a genius. All of his movies are simply perfect.

Just a note, Seven Psychopaths is a very Martin McDonagh style movie. I don't think it's fair to say that this particular movie was influenced by Tarantino, it's much more like In Bruges.

Seekarr I agree with you completely, McDonagh has his own unique (and totally awesome) style. But you have to admit, his skill with dialogue, completely engrossing monologues, and the way he juggles black comedy, drama, and action is all very reminiscent of Tarantino, or at least early Tarantino, before his films became so bombastic and self-parodying...

The Place Beyond The Pines, Dredd, Snowpiercer, and Prisoners were all FANTASTIC films! Especially loved how you mentioned that The Place Beyond The Pines was a "fantastic movie that sucks you into the world it creates" because that is so true. Couldn't have said that any better.

I cried how Dredd underrated, it was a perfect old school action!

Mojo can't thank you enough for adding Snowpiercer and Dredd on the list. Snowpiercer was a phenomenon and Dredd did exactly what it was supposed to do opposed to the Stallone movie.

Rush is even better when you live in austria or germany like me and listen to the german version of the film. Daniel Brühl speaks exactly like Niki Lauda in this Version.

The Place Beyond the Pines is one of my all time favorite movies

I had the amazing fortune to see The Place Beyond The Pines in a theater in Scotia, NY that was packed with extras from the movie. Shouts of "There I am!" and "Hey, isn't that Joe?" made it an incredible night.

Rush was an amazing movie with great screenplay and music. I can also say the actors did their job really well and makeup artist brought a very close resemblance to real drivers especially Nikki Lauda. A must watch to everyone out there!!!

I think Nightcrawler should be on this list. I don't think it was nominated for any Oscars the year it came out, and it was well-deserving.

Rand Miller Yeah, well, I think it should've gotten more recognition, I mean, just as you said, it got Rosamund Pike a Nom for best actress, but in my humble opinion it should've gotten more nominations, such as Best Photography, best adapted screenplay, Best Director, Best Original score (I'm really disapointed it didn't get this nom) and maybe, even best movie.

Dredd was just too good. If the first one never came out. Dredd would have easily made 500 million world wide.

Prisoners at nr 1. A really breathtaking thriller, great ending and very underrated. The stunning movie has a place in my personal top 25 movies of all time, and is also at nr 227 on IMDB`s top 250 list.

Good list and surprising as well. Looper, was a masterpiece.

I like how one of the movies you say we should watch is Dredd, but you straight up spoil the ending within the first minute of this video. Real smart.

Dredd was easily the best action film of the last decade. Revelled in its simplicity on the surface yet has many subtle touches that add depth. Violent, gritty, adult oriented. Perfect film for a man to kick back and enjoy with a beer after dark.

Thank you for putting Prisoners on #1, that movie blew my mind when I first saw it and still continue to think about it ever since

Michael Shannon is one of the best actors of the last 20 years. It seems every film of his goes unnoticed although his presence alone usually makes it watchable. I.E Man of Steel.

I've seen the original movie waaaay back in the 90s, it was a great film and i loved it, but the new is way better for me, the "way better" part of the 2012 film is that DREDD actually has his helmet on for the entire film. That single detail in the movie sets it apart from the 1995 version. The old movie felt like it was a Sylvester Stallone film not a Judge Dredd film, Stallone's contract demands that his face be shown majority of the film which was 100% against the rule of the source material(comics) that Dredd's face should never be revealed. Dredd's hidden face was part of the overall philosophy of the original creator which was to "sum up the facelessness of justice − justice has no soul." Therefore, the old Judge Dredd, however great nostalgia makes the old movie to be, in reality, it doesn't hold a candle to the 2012 film on its accuracy to the source material and the overall philosophy.

The Stallone version was way too "Sly is a superhero, we need to show him as one!" while missing the whole point of Dredd, he is no hero. He is The Law!

I think Predestination (2014) is underrated. It stars Ethan Hawke and a lesser known Sarah Snook. It got good reviews but only earned $4.3million in Box Office

Dredd was a really awesome movie. Shame it didnt earn more, as it's a much better representation of the actual comics than the old one.

Source Code was a personal favourite and the last 15 mins are so positive!

7 psychopaths was great, if it was a book. But the movie was just too slow, you can only feel the vibes in the beginning when the writer was looking for subjects about his book, and in the end (the cemetery shoot out and Sam Rockwell's character's death)

hi watchmojo. i noticed that one of my favorite animated movies, the book of life went unnoticed by many critics, the academy and well by youtube channels that work on the subject..it has a good grade on rotten tomatoes aswell as in imdb..if you do a second part of this video i would suggested..its inovative diferrent from disney or other animated studios concapt..thanks guys and keep up the great work

Good list--I agree with most of these, aside from a couple that I haven't seen. Super 8 not so much, however. I'd probably replace it with something like Oblivion.

Not under rated though is it. Critics absolutely loved it.

So agree on "Looper" being overlooked but probably a lot of other very good sci-fi movies should have made this list. I can think of two movies "The Jacket" and recently "Ex Machina" that should have been seen by more people but I'm sure there's plenty more other people can recommend like "The Signal" or "The Adjustment Bureau" maybe? With a broad statement like this title maybe breaking it down further to type of film "like drama, sci-fy and comedy" would suit this discussion better as their are SO MANY very good films missed by the general public every year.

I normally don't go for comic-book themed movies, but Dredd was epic! Especially in high speed film 3D.

Rush is about a British sporting icon. It did well in the UK but I guess had limited appeal outside of that.

I would put "Locke" instead of "Super 8". Also nice one with Seven Psycopaths

I recently saw Buried as it was randomly on, it was actually really good and one of those where the longer it goes on the more interested you are.

Yes. I agree with you. I loved the last 3 videos I've seen.

I absolutely looooooove Super 8. Wish it was a bigger hit! I've shown it to a couple of people who didn't seem to quite love it either, though...I would also respectfully add Hanna to the list. Incredibly stylish movie, great soundtrack, beautiful performance by Saoirse Ronan along with an excellent supporting cast. I guess "naive girl assassin" isn't as big a money maker as I'd like to believe!
