Yes! Thank you for posting a comment about this excellent film. It is one of the most creative and beautiful science fiction films ever made (imho) yet people aren't familiar with it even though it was directed by Danny Boyle and stars Cillian Murphy (and lovely Rose Byrne). It suffers in the third act b/c it descends into the slasher/horror narrative for a bit too long. It wasn't needed, and I think it distracted viewers from the best parts of the film. The imagining of the sun, the look of the spacesuits and the ship, etc were just magical.

Then you don't care about directing or cinematography at all. Children of Men is one of the most well-made and beautifully shot movies ever. Go watch a Michael Bay film, I'm sure you'd looooove it, lots of big explosions to keep your attention.

I wasn't commenting on the production dick head, it was fine in the technical department. When it came out people were acting like it was the second fucking coming, I went and saw it and it ended up being an overlong morality tale, or maybe a lesser Twilight Zone episode, if you think this is one of the, "...most well-made and beautifully shot movies ever." you need to see more movies. I didn't say it was bad, just no where near as good as people say it was,

+Jon Jones C'mon man. Why is everyone's default insult some variation of a dig on Bay? Children of Men is one of the best future dystopian movies I've ever seen. Curon, Clive and Caine did themselves proud on this flick but that doesn't mean someone who likes and appreciates this movie can't like a Bay movie (which I do) as well.

+smit1000 there are some significant differences like silk spectre already knowing she was the comedians father, but the acting felt right. Over the top roarshac (no idea how to spell it), the monotone doctor Manhattan, and the well portrayed comedian. Admittedly, silk spectre and nite owl were sorta mehhh to me. Snyder definitely took some liberties, but I don't think theres a definitive choice of media. I think it's more preference. I saw the movie first then read the comic, which may explain my affinity towards it. I just thought it was a damn good movie.

When you ask the question, "Why isn't more popular?" a few big reasons stick out based on your examples here: 1. Overly depressing themes, 2. Main character narration, 3. Ray Liotta, and 4. George Clooney. While you will find successful movies with any of these reasons, overall any of them tend to drag a movie down.

I found 'Watchmen' to be more thought-provoking than the whole 'The Dark Knight' trilogy. 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang' and 'Lord of War' are among my personal favorite. 'Zodiac' happens to be my second most favorite film. It felt so wrong how the Oscars didn't even nominated it for anything. It evidently shows how much of a perfectionist David Fincher is. 'The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford' should've won for best cinematography. It was almost magical. These are why the 2008 Oscar ceremony is among my most hated.
