    Fantastic video production, with well-thought opinions. It's refreshing. I appreciate the tendency you show to focus on fewer games, not necessarily on great hype or new, and to take the time to understand and meditate on them. This is a distinct trait and a precious alternative to the diffuse craze of doing reviews of more and more games, which too often leads to not having taken the time to understand the rules and all the possibilities of a game nor to play the game for its purpose: the enjoyment/social interaction, or simply becoming an echo chamber for trends and buzz, which often are inflated by useless polemics or huge marketing investments. And I swear, I do not say that only because Raptor is my favorite 2 player game! 😝 I have played this on many dates with girls that were not yet into the hobby, it proved always a strong gateway even more than Dixit!

    Hey, a fellow Raptor lover! That game deserves way more attention. I appreciate your comments. It is difficult to thread that needle and feature a good mix of games. I try to focus on play and pick games that I'm genuinely excited to get to the table. Sometimes those are brand new and sometimes they are classics. I appreciate your support and I hope you continue to enjoy the channel.

    @Totally Tabled definitely a win!! And don't worry words and languages are just in general hard 😁 certainly found something interesting but the one which tickled my triggers is Tash Kalar. @@TheoWinter Like most of Vlaada Chvatil's games, I think Tash-Kalar is polarizing. I've seen people both love it and hate it. It isn't "pure" enough for hardcore abstract fans but it is too much of a spatial puzzle for fans of games like Summoner Wars or Mage Wars. I love the way Vlaada designs a game, so it hits me in just the right spot, but YMMV.

    Thanks for checking out the video Franco! I totally agree about Arkham Horror the Card Game, yes. Very cinematic as well. I like how organically the stories emerge in Doomtown without any story cards needed -- sort of the way story emerges from the gameplay of Robinson Crusoe. It's funny because when experts play it, they are slapping down cards fast and moving things around -- it looks very abstract. But if you slow down and read the cards and speak about everything thematically, it becomes EPIC. That's why I have zero interest in the tournament scene. I like the way this plays casually with my friends who are also just interested in enjoying the story. Thanks again!

    Thanks Jack! I appreciate your long support of the channel! The history of Doomtown Reloaded is crazy. It has been dropped by AEG, but it was saved by a group of fans who started Pine Box Entertainment to support the game. They have released at least four new expansions and have kickstarted a new version of the base game called Doomtown Weird West Edition. I believe you can preorder it on their website. Personally, I would look for cheap versions of old base game and expansions. You need two base games boxes to get 4 copies of each card, which is the maximum you can have in a deck. The expansions come with four copies of each card, so you only need one of each expansion. You should be able to get them for cheap -- they were relatively inexpensive when new. Also check out dtdb.co for a website to build virtual decks and see decks others have made, and doomtown.online for a site to play online (although I have not tried it yet, so I can't vouch for it). When the new version releases I plan to do a series of videos to help people get into the game, because it deserves more attention. Thanks again Jack!

    Luck has nothing to do with winning or losing Unmatched. I hear this from new players and laugh because I thought the same. There is so much more depth to this game than card order. If you can, play against anyone with some skill and mastery of certain characters and learn how they will beat you every time regardless of how the cards come out. You will learn a large Part of the game is knowing the cards in your deck and planning how to best play your hands as they come out. Sure, more tactics that strategic, but not luck-based by any stretch.

  • @andrethannhauser6302
    @andrethannhauser63022 жыл бұрын

    I dont really get your restriction on that list. if you are only two players and you want to play a game. Do you limit your options only on games that can only be played with 2? Sounds strange. When a multiplayer game is better at two than an only two-player game, well then it's better and should be (higher) on that list....especially when your list should help people to find good two-player-games. So you might have rethemed your topic or at least changed the headline to "best DUEL games". So you know that this list is not about your favorite games playing at two BUT that it's only about games that are clearly rather 1vs1 with all kind of stuff especially direct confrontation (no matter if direct or rather "backstabbing"). anyways, some interesting games I have never heard of. :-)

    That's fair. I think 90% of cooperative games and 90% of Euro games play well at 2 player. The restrictions keep the list from being a rehash of my ten favorite games. But I get your point.

    It is definitely interesting how things have changed in the last 60 years, and what things remain the same. Thanks for watching Gordon.
