The commander Armada Prime also managed to beat a $220+ plus 3rd party rendition of the character, it's incredible what they did with the engineering. Having both it and Naval Commander, yeah its no contest, the hasbro one beats it, and its not often a hasbro toy beats an expensive 3rd party figure.

Too bad Airazor didn’t have a robot mode in the movie.

Legacy Armada Optimus is glorious, I'm so glad I got him. Armada Optimus was *my* Optimus growing up, and this is him fully realised in toy form.

The way Armada Optimus turned out made me purchase my first transformers toy since I was a kid. And looking all over it, I am seeing signs that the engineering accounts for the possibility of a Jetfire and/or Overload. The Autobot crest on the Super Mode chest can unpeg, potentially for the chestplate... and the back of the super mode looks like it was made to account for something plugging onto the back. I would honestly love to see them design Armada Jetfire and Overload glow-ups to make the complete end-of-series super mode!

No love for Studio Series '86 Ultra Magnus?? As soon as I opened it and pulled him out of the box, I was like, "Ohhhh yes! THAT'S the daddy of Ultra Magnus figures!" It ticks all the boxes, and as much as I've only been collecting for just over a year, he's definitely my favourite overall figure so far.

Nightshade is alright, third place in the Earthspark for me. Bumblebee and Grimlock pull ahead

I've got both Reactivate sets pre-ordered, tho living in Australia means we have had to import these sets making them more expensive. So if they make more figures, hopefully they are all amazing, to make the effort to import them worth it.

Its a nice list, we really got so many great figures this year that everyones list can easily be so varied.

Legacy Nova prime, SSROTB Scourge, Legacy Windblade, SS86 Ultra Magnus, G2 Cheeto Jazz, SS86 Origins Jazz, BBMSS Ironhide , and so on.

Armada Optimus was the first commander class figure I got and it’s the figure to get me back into mainline. He looks amazing with my Cybertron metroplex. Prime is such a fun toy

My personal fav of 2023 was the 2nd Jurassic Park set not because it's good but because I am a HUGE lover of the OG JP & the first set I got last year & loved it but Legacy Override just beat it out. No2 for 2023 was DOTM Jolt, who I got with Cyberfire Bee & Specialist Ratchet for the price of one 2011 Deluxe, & he isn't perfect with TONS of clear plastic everywhere but he is a real unique figure in how he transforms just a shame that 12 year old clear plastic hasn't held up. An honourable mention goes to Legacy Armada Prime as I only just got him in yesterday so while he can't make 23's best figure, 24 is gonna be a challenge to find someone to best him but it is only January after all so I dunno what's gonna win me over this year but 24 collecting has gotten off to a strong start for sure.

I posted my “top 10” on your discord, and Nightshade was in it. A lot of points came from being the only owl transformers I own or have even seen. Also, how well the transformation works with a big owl, a skinny transformer, and a basically “warrior class” budget.

The only other owl TF I can think of is Transmetal2 Prowl so the owl is a rare alt mode for TFs indeed.

Here on Mexico we got the rotb deluxes individually My favourite has to be cheetor, a really nice remake of the original, not screen accurate but Hella fun It feels like those generations 2010 toys, a straight remake of cheetors original toy with some sacrifices It feels way out of his leage with the other rotb deluxes in how posable he is

Great list! I especially like the inclusion of mainline Airazor. She's fantastic! I also like that you didn't include Ultra Magnus, which was really underwhelming as a toy. Armada Optimus was objectively the best toy released in 2023.

Pre-ordered Snarl last year still not recieved it may get it in slightly less than a year from ordering it.

While I agree about Deathsaurus' overall quality as a figure, I feel like it wouldve worked fine as a Commander. The only thing that really irks me about him is the price. I think a Commander version of him would still be the same basic figure, but with less accesories. I think most people might be fine with scrapping the throne to free up 20 bucks, the stand for about 15 or so, especially considering that a lot of people are just gonna pose with them once and then put them in storage. While all his weapons are reallt cool, idk if he needed literally all of them to feel like a good value. Hell, that fancy box is eating more of the budget than most people think, and its not even trying to get peoples attention on a retail shelf. All of these additions work well together to make a really nice premium release, but i cant help but think of all the people who were priced out of Deathsaurus because it ended up being twice what it could have been.

22:15 I remember in one of the live streams, the designers said that deathsaurus was originally gonna be a remold of 86 grimlock but due to the success of victory saber they convinced the higher ups on making him a haslab. That wouldve been terrible imo.

The whole situation with deluxe Airazor is annoying but I don't feel the need to drop extravagant amounts of money on it. I get the feeling we'll be seeing this mold again down the line given how it's details and transformation match up almost perfectly with Beast Machines Silverbolt.

Nightshade looks great but I cannot find them, mainly need Mandriod's torso! Absolutely love our Ultra Magnus, He's been played with a lot since Xmas

#10 - Still waiting for mine, had to pay double for them and their wave-mate because Hasbro decided to skip this wave down here (Edit: yes, I realized/fixed the mistake, sorry). #9 - I bought Kascade because someone didn't want her, love the duel pistol the rifle can do and since she is a sniper the large backpack makes sense, my Chromia is the Takara Legends version. #8 - Would have gotten him if someone wanted to buy my Galaxy Convoy and if Amazon didn't refuse to give me an account back with POTP Nemesis release and haven't tried to get one again. #5 - As I've said repeatedly, I already have Kingdom Airrazor and Terrorsaur, so I was happy to buy this one over the Studio Series one, for once my country got the single packs so I didn't have to buy two figures I didn't want. #4 - I'm still waiting for an MPM Soundwave, might try and source the 3P. #3 - His arm storge was the biggest turn off for me, say what you want about the Barricade, at least his arm storage didn't make the removed arm look like a 'gearstick'. #2 - Love this one, no hollow parts to fill either, the wingspan makes transporting him to show interested people at work a pain though. #1 - Really hope they bring out a Jetfire and Overload as well and don't pull a Tidal Wave (not looking forward to finding the AUD $400 for that one).

I love the original armada superbase optimus, I kinda understand the hate towards it but I think it’s good for other reasons than modern toys. But I have to admit, the legacy is definitely an upgrade

I will say I agree with most of the list like for example Reactivate Optimus Prime , War for Cybertron Optimus Prime just to named a few. I agree with those They are great Transformers that came out in 2023 I hope to get them I some point. In my opinion one of my favorite Transformers that came out in 2023 was the cybertron mode Jazz from Buzzworthy Bumblebee toy line. The reason for why it was my favorite of the year is it caught me by surprise when the Transformers Brand team announce it. I am a big fan of jazz and he is one of my favorite G1 Characters and I cannot believe they made is cybertron alt mode from a few minute's of More than meets the Eye part 1. It's a solid figure for the $25 dollar price which is the price of today Transformers deluxe class.

I didn't get passed the Doorless Cab on Armada Prime.

I think a lot people will agree that bayverse bonecrusher is an iconic design.

It's weird that you went out of your way to praise Reactivate Prime's ion blaster. The peg is way too short, and he can barely hold it. I took the gun from SS38, and it works much better.

If only I had money so I could have Armada Optimus.

The one thing that I could see making sense for Nightshade's weapon is the spear, since it's the only weapon they ever actually used. I even think the poseability would work for it.

My ruling are Figures a Purchased that year, not just figures that came out that year, as I go to toy conventions and buy some older bots. We seem to have very similar lists, I also put Armada Optimus as my number one, I never put 3rd party on my list as I feel that is unfair on Hasbro as it it a top 10 Transformers, and 3rd party technically are not Transformers

i must say the nemesis is so much better than the Ark

So annoying Nightshade has been virtually impossible to get in Europe. Especially because it's got the last most important bit of the buildanfigure

Gamer Optimus just doesn’t make any sense. Every other Gamer Edition just whiffed on major elements, from size, detail, engineering, to base design. Then you open Prime. He's chonky, poseable, BIG(not just chonky but FEELS like a Voyager), detailed, and most of all fun. If it weren't for Armada Prime he'd easily be the best Prime of the year.

(Spoilers) Armada Optimus Prime is without a shadow of a doubt one of the greatest Transformers achievements of the last couple of years. That toy has no business being almost as perfect as it is.

Nightshade - along with Thrash & Jawbreaker - were also among my top ten of the year. The IDW 2.0 Snipers... pre-ordered it, only for it to get canceled without notice 🤬 Haven't seen Snarl, nor Optimus Primal yet and not expecting to irl sadly. Thank gawd for online ordering. Mainline RotB Airazor is one of my top ten bots this year as well. By your metric I agree Armada OP top tier. As an impressed by engineering bot he top tier for me as well, That said, I find smaller bots more fun & he not a character I particularly attached to.

Here’s my top 10 figures I added to the collection this year: 10. Evo Twincast and Rewind I can’t believe how much Hasbro is willing to pack in with smaller figures these days. All I wanted was Rewind, but I had to get this Obama Harry Potter Sonic bootleg backpack-colored version of Blaster. How generous! I kid, I kid. But the Kingdom Blaster mold still rules two years later. It’s got popping colors, a tasteful new head, good articulation (on both of them), and a satisfying transformation. Plus I got Rewind for my Lost Light collection. Now if only Legacy Knock Out’s Conjunx could get an update *glares at Earthrise Trailbreaker* 9. Evo Axlegrease The colors on her, man. The colors! She fits in perfectly with the 1988 Decepticons and feels like a lost member of their ranks. That, and she’s an impressive retool of a pretty alright figure. Yes, her arm transformation sucks, but she just has shelf presence thanks to her deco and Junkion aesthetic. 8. Evo Toxitron Ah, yes. The best use of the Legacy Laser Prime mold. This was my first exposure to it, and even with the issues in mind, I still had a blast with it. Great articulation, fun transformation, deliciously 90s colors, and a playable trailer. 7. 86 Brawn I’ve dubbed this figure the anti-Earthrise Cliffjumper for a reason. He’s a solid, beefy little dude with an involved transformation, an accurate sculpt, good articulation, and no BS “he’s totally worth Deluxe prices guys” accessories. Wish mine had better tabs holding the front of the vehicle mode together, but easily the best of the post-WFC mini-bots next to Origin Bumblebee. 6. Legacy Armada Starscream Given how late he was in terms of releasing on store shelves (darn Hasbro distribution), one can argue he’s a 2023 figure. And he was SO worth the wait. He’s got all the best parts of the Thrilling 30 figure and improves upon its weaker aspects. Better sculpt, better articulation, and a slightly improved transformation. Now where is my Thundercracker repaint and Skywarp/Ramjet retool? 5. Evo Shadow Striker I hated this figure when the reveals happened. But getting her in hand? She’s surprisingly good. Good articulation, excellent amalgamation of the Cyberverse and Universe 2003 designs (if she was just “Shadow Striker” and not labeled as the Cyberverse version, we wouldn’t have this mess; besides, the asymmetrical robot mode is in character for her), bonkers but surprisingly fun transformation, and cute car mode. Ironically, I think United Side Burn is going to be the worse version since this mold is so Shadow Striker-oriented. She’s that good. 4. ROTB Rhinox Finally, we have a good Rhinox! Great sculpt, good articulation, the chain guns of doom, brilliant transformation, and delightfully chonky rhino mode. If a BW Rhinox redo is coming sometime in the future, I wouldn’t mind this mold’s engineering being reused for it. 3. Evo Needlenose There is something hilarious about one of the best figures of 2023 being a literal nobody from 35 years ago. And I’d say the praise surrounding him is well deserved. He’s got an engaging transformation, fantastic articulation, well-painted little buddies, and great use of the plastics used to make him. He’s basic, yes, but it’s a refreshing kind of basicness. 2. Studio Series Galvatron The fact this thing even exists is an accomplishment. Third party companies had taken a whack at making this nonsense design work in plastic form (and Hasbro’s 2014 attempt wasn’t half bad), but SS-90 puts them all to shame. Beautiful robot mode, the best articulation I’ve seen all year, insane transformation, and a mildly compromised truck mode. Such a stupidly good figure and I’m glad to have the three baddies from AOE in SS form (hopefully Lockdown gets a Deluxe+ reworking in the future). 1. Evo Lio Convoy Shortly after becoming a Transformers fan, I fell in love with Lio Convoy’s design. Yes, it’s very obviously an Optimus-looking guy with furry legs and lion bits on his shoulders, but it’s just a cool design. Then I learned of Beast Wars Uprising, and I fell in love with the conflicted guerrilla rebellion leader he was penned as there. But for years, I could never find a good toy of him. The original and Robot Masters versions were too expensive. The Universe version(s) weren’t accurate to the Lio I wanted, and the Legends version, while cool, was also extremely expensive on the secondary market. I never thought I’d see a good toy of Lio again. And then they revealed this. My heart exploded with joy. He looked dead on to his BWII design. He had fantastic articulation. His lion mode looked clean. I waited eight months, I got him, and he was exactly what I’d hoped for. He has all his original gimmicks. He poses incredibly well. His transformation is an utter joy. He looks like he hopped right out of BWII. He is to me what Tarn was to IDW1 fans- a near-perfect recreation of a design we thought we’d get in toy form (and in Lio’s case, a design we’d never see stateside).

I’ll light up the comments for a different reason! I love Nightshade! Absolutely the coolest of the entire line!

When I first watched your list something you said kind of bugged me, you know left a bad taste in my mouth, but I was going to let it go, but I can't. I think one of your reasons for Nightshade being on your list is a disservice to an awesome figure and a cool character. I understand why you said what you did, but in a way it is still letting the close minded people win. They can now say, "the only reason why he added that figure to his list is to...blah blah blah", we all know what they go on about. Don't give them the fuel they want is my way of thinking.

I'm being facetious when I state that, it's not an actual reason for being on the list. Honestly I only bring it up because it tends to flush them out, meaning I can ban them from commenting and keep my community safer.
