When it popped up, I was thinking WHAAAT??? That's got to be higher on that list! Not that it's easy to choose a performance, he really nails them all. He had so few lines in "Dunkirk", and his facial expressions and eyes relayed exactly what was going through the character's mind. IMHO. But Alfie... Both comic relief and horrifying nightmare at the same time!

+Raziel that is interesting that you say it defines his career. For me it has to be Locke because the whole film was just him and voices on a telephone. I don't think any other actor could have captured the intensity of the film Locke as well as he did. As the credits began rolling I was invested in his character that it seemed like a shame that the movie had to end. That is one of my all time favorites. It was just Hardy in a car but he made the whole movie come alive and that was extraordinary. He is great actor. He is becoming great just like Gary Oldman. Gary Oldman is in a class of his own but Tom Hardy is definitely very close to being in that category.

+sparky8363 I absolutely love Locke, but i can infact imagine other actors in that role. Lot of other actors. However, only Tom Hardy can play Bronson, and his performance was explosive, energetic and chaotic just like Charlie is in a real life. You cannot see that he is acting, he is so natural in that role. Its like Pacino was born to play Michael Corleone, or De Niro to play taxi driver. Those are their high peeks of career and acting skills, and im sure Bronson is for Tom Hardy.

Just out of curiosity, but who else do you think could have done just as good of a job as Hardy in Locke? Bronson was a good movie and one of Hardy's best but the action in that movie can pull more audiences in just with the violence alone. Locke on the other as a previous commentor pointed out didn't get alot of play because it wasn't chalk full of action. That role solidified Hardy as one of the top actors for me. If it was any other actor I would've shut it off within 15 min. I'd like to see who you think would be capable of delivery as great of a performance.

Does nobody love his voice? I love his voice. No matter what accent I take them all. He's got this... deep voice. Amazing.

I think his portrayal of Forest Bondurant was MAGICAL!!! His quiet, composed, and 1000% badass character was just stunning. I'm sure if Forest was still here, he would have loved this movie about his family and legacy. ❤

Bob saginowski was some of the greatest acting ive ever seen .... Hardy portrayed a very typical and normal and quiet person who was more than capable of instantly snapping into a cold blooded killer only when absolutely necessary .... the tension he brought in this film conviced me he's one of the greatest actors alive

Has become my favorite new actor by far. Will watch anything with him in it. A phenomenal talent we haven't seen come out of Hollywood in far too long! My favorite role/movie of his was Legend. Should be #1 on list; especially as he played both roles of the Kray twins simultaneously!

I think Locke is his number one performance I've seen. (Number 3 on this list.) Also his two roles in Legend are both fantastically well done - you can tell immediately which of the two brothers he is portraying in every case. His acting is remarkable.

I'm not much of a movie guy but I happened to watch legend which I found to be a great movie, and became aware of Tom Hardy and his acting. Ended up buying 4 books on the krays, then watch Bronson with the same results. This man is special.....

Was about to say I was shocked that his mad max role didn’t make the list, but then I realized that this video was made two days prior to it’s release. I’d love to see an updated version :)

BRONSON ,hands down his best role ,he showed so much range in that masterpiece.

I have watched green mile, marley and me, all of those but warrior is the only movie to date to make me cry

EVERY single role he plays is freaking incredible!!!! Don't forget Taboo. Looking forward to a second season!! My favorite character he's played.... possibly Tommy in Warrior. Phenomenal!!! No, wait, his character in Lawless. On second thought, loved him in This Means War. Ok....too difficult I to choose just one. 😁 He's fantastic!!!!

Bronson is surely his best role. I would put him as Freddie Jackson in The Take as a very, very close second - give it a watch if you haven't, he's phenomenal.

Legend was his most memorable acting. He was so handsome as Reggie and menacing as Ron. I loved the movie and all the crap Reggie had to put up with his insane brother!

Bronson is his best role to date. Tom Hardy is a very underrated, underappreciated actor.

There so many other great performaces of him though that need a mention: wuthering heights, stuart: a life backwards, venom, mad max, the revenant... He is needless to say, a legend

My personal Tom Hardy performance is his role in the mini series Taboo! I've watched that at least 7 times.

Glad to see Warrior so high. Definitely one of the greatest dramas I've ever seen!

***** Yes, but he was clearly one of the best parts. The acting was what made the movie phenomenal. That final scene always get me :)

Shame this was out before he played John Fitzgerald in The Revenant. Deserved a best supporting Oscar for that role.

C.B Black that film sucked from my perspective. Hardy was the only thing which held it together. Leo plays himself over and over again. he's like John Wayne or Clint Eastwood...same style. very few are character actors today.

I fell in love with Hardy as Heathcliff.

Lawless. Tom brings a palatable toughness to the roll. Love everything about that film. All the actors step up in their individual roles. The screenplay by Nick Cave and John Hillcoat, the music by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis and the costume design. I own the DVD and watch it over and over.

The 'crossed the line' scene in peaky blinders S3E6 between cillian and Tom is absolutely outstanding. one of the best pieces of acting Iv ever seen. Both actors are the best of there generation and put a lot of ridiculously paid actors to shame...

His perfomance as Alfie Solomons in Peaky Blinders is beyond excellent. Alfie was a character that you would hate with the things that he'd done to the Shelby Family, but thanks to Hardy's perfomance he became one of my favourite characters in the series. Couldn't even hate him in the last episode of Season 4. The guy is a brilliant actor!

I saw him in Band of Brothers, and due to his abilities, I can tell you I am only discovering him in films I've already watched. Not realizing he was in these films due to his abilities of characters. gREAT ACTOR.

+QAZAZZA He had quite a lot of lines in the last two episodes, but in the other 8 he was just a character that sometimes got seen in the background or walking across the frame. his name was Genovic if I remember correctly.

+DuckFace123 He has been in many better films in my view. Warrior, Bronson, Peaky Blinders he is good too. I thought the script for Legend was lacking. Reggie was well played but his performance of Ronnie was awful. couldn't take him seriously. My favourite was Bronson

I'm surprised that Stuart: A Life Backwards isn't on this list.That was the first movie I saw of Hardy and was entirely blown away by his talent.

To my initial comment, goes to show that you can't just do a top 10 Tom Hardy performance. They're all bloody good!

You haven't seen Tom Hardy's best, unless you saw "Stuart : A life backwards"... A compelling true story, that was produced for television by BBC... Tom delivered a heart wrenching performance. This should definitely be on top of this list.... Don't miss it.

The fact that the Tom Hardy can play a variety of different characters in multiple great movies fascinates me. But the audacity to not even mention “Legend”, even in the honorable mentions, is what killed me a little inside. I know other actors have done it before but to play twins of such different personalities in this great movie makes him my favorite actor of all time & I am sad that it was not in this video but all these are great movies involving & starring this great actor, & makes me want to watch most them in a binge

For me, his role as Alfie Solomons AT LEAST should be in my top 5 his best performance. He's such a scene stealer in Peaky fookin Bloinders, mate.

For me the best perfomance of Tom Hardy is in Taboo as the lead character James Delaney.....he is absolutely brilliant in that

When you do "another top 10 tom hardy performances" I personally think Alfie Solomons deserves to be on that one as well. I love that even he is one of the most noticed actors in the world he still evokes lead character energy the 5 minutes he comes around per season. One of the best.

i thought the best was the drop. i actually thought he was an American because it was first time i saw him.he can really do accents of all sorts.

+stormbringerr mourn His accent there was awful though. I only stuck around to the end because he's a great actor but the accent kept making me laugh/cringe. Not a Brooklyn accent at all! I kept wondering how Gandolfini let him continue speaking like that instead of helping him out.

stormbringerr mourn I know you said American but its just that the setting was Brooklyn and it sounded goofy. Yeah I completely agree that in other films that require an American accent, he nails it which is why i was surprised by The Drop. The revenant was amazing no doubt.

"Locke" is a must see by all men. Something for dads to show their sons and teach them what a real responsibility is, even if it's just a movie. What an atmosphere, what an acting. Just wow.

@@CombatFlapjack That makes sense I guess. I just think that having to face the consequences doesn’t make up for the fact that his wife and other 2 kids will pass a tough time because of the divorce. His family has to face the consequences for mistakes they never did. But your reply makes sense as I said. It’s still much better than just running away and abandoning everyone of them.

Warrior! In the beginning I was convinced he had a long martial arts background. It was the first move that really made me notice Hardy, and is still my favorite movie with him in a lead.

Whaaat? What about Stuart: A life backwards ... That's one of his top performances

Absolutely it is!!! Bloody amazing performance in that. It's a shame that these lists only go with well known roles and leave out what they claim are the best "performances". As Stuart, I would probably put 2nd or 3rd personally. Tommy - Warrior Stuart - A life backwards Ivan Locke - Locke I think they are his best acting performances (in my eyes, not anyone elses lol) But there are so many high level craft excerts to which you could use as reference. Tom Hardy is like his acting Idol, Gary Oldman................ a true Chameleon.

My thoughts exactly. It was the first thing I saw him in, but no matter how great his performances have been since, that's still my favourite.

I LOVE Tom Hardy!! He can do or play ANYTHING - he's SUPER talented; like a chameleon and can adapt to any part...he's also drop dead GORGEOUS!!! I'm so glad he's finally being recognized after all these years!!

He's KILLING it as James Delaney in the new show Taboo...one of a kind actor
