Thanks for the tips. I've been showing my 9 yr old your videos, and this will help as she has just reached Basic 6. It all makes sense!

I love these tips - each one makes so much sense yet we’re new to me. Mary, I’ve been watching your videos for a few months and finally decided to sign up for LTS. Imagine my surprise when I noticed the same signs around my rink - turns out I’m skating at the same one you’re at! It’s a lovely program and I’m having a blast. If I ever see you there, I’ll say hello and thank you in person…

I love this idea! Will have to save this for post-partum but will be fun to do when back on the ice.

I dunno if I agree with the falling one. I'm a good faller. Better to accept the fall and fall safely than to perfectionist resist it and have an awkward fall since you don't know how to fall in a way that minimizes damage. I don't know what popping is either.

Agreed with your perspective, falling is very important! Popping is when you go to do a jump and bail on it mid-jump.

@@CoachMarySkating oh that's scary. Never heard that term! We called it "bailing" when I took gymnastics

I was confused at the beginning too, but what I think she means is that if you're keeping falling doing an element, better move to something else instead, because if not you're just "practicing falling on that element" for that session. Doing so might ingrain into your brain that you're always going to fall doing that element.

Remember, every video you take is somewhere between a great before and a great after.
