With the wrong actor, a character can be forgotten but with the right actor, that character can become a legend. Matthew Perry was the perfect cast to play Chandler Bing. His demeanor and jokes played a big part in why Friends became the legendary sitcom it was. Losing him definitely feels like we lost a true friend. RIP Matthew, thank you for always being there for us. You will never be forgotten. ❤

I know in his autobiography he said he wants to be remembered for helping others more than he wants to be remembered for his role in Friends. I hope he knows how much his role as Chandler really helped so many people out of times of sadness. We love you chanandler bong😭

He blew 100m on rehab. Think of how many drug addicts that money could have helped? People who were born into it, never had a chance, crack addict parents, abused, never went to school, lived on the streets, never had any money - that 100m could have gone a long way. But nope, he spent 100m on drugs, and 100m on rehab, and it made zero difference. Sad story, a shing star a comic genius, never had it in him to do anything other than get wasted.

Mathew Perry's genius was something else. It's so ironic that the ones who give you the most laughs can also get you the saddest. RIP Chandler Bing.. You'll always be missed.

As a sarcastic person myself, I always appreciated how he made all his sarcasm truly emulate goodhearted teasing and joking. anyone else could've made that character come off as completely unlikable, but he was probably the most believable in his role and really funny.

Chandler's awkwardness could easily have been creepy but Perry's comic timing and acting made it adorable instead. And made an entire generation laugh. How we loved him! Make heaven laugh now you legend:😢

My mom texted me while I was watching The Addams Family and I cried. Usually when I’m sad I watch Friends so now I don’t know what to do.

I don’t believe that the show would have lasted that long without Matthew being there. He definitely helped bring out the best in every scene he was in. His mocking of Joey play in the pilot episode had me hooked. Rip our special friend.

I understand what you mean for all of his contributions but they were all just absolutely incredible together. I mean Lisa Kudrow is also great! And Ross!! I love Friends. I have watched it multiple times, and it always cheers me up when I feel low. The show never failed to help me take my mind off things. Above all, I adored Chandler, his sarcasm, his special bond with Joey, and his fragility. To know what he went through during his life has been an eye-opener for me. He had demons, but he never let that get in the way of his performance, which, to me, is admirable. He hid his mental state from the world, even using it to his advantage while acting. And how he came clean publicly to help others going through the same shows he was a kind soul. Goodbye Matthew, goodbye Chandler, “my friend”. Thank you for all the laughs. You’ll forever be missed ❤

R.I.P. to an amazing man who gave me 10 years of laughs. I really think he was the heart of this cast. I read that he was the only cast member that would go into the writers' room (they had an open door policy for the whole cast) & come up with at least 10 jokes per episode. He changed the way that ppl spoke ("Could I be any ______") & has entertained many generations. He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

Nobody could come close to Matthew’s Chandler in those scenes. He was my favorite as the show ran. When he lost so much weight I knew something was wrong and worried. We found out what he was going through and prayed for him. I rejoiced when I got his book and knew he had finally beat it, and loved him even more. All he wanted was to help other people. He was so loving, giving, and kind. He’s someone you just don’t get over, especially if you were watching in 1994 when he came to us. R.I.P. Dear Matty. It was way too soon. 😢💔

My favourite Matthew Perry blooper is from Season 10. I forget the context, but Chandler is asking Rachel for advice in Central Perk, and the little girl playing Emma keeps pointing at the audience. Jennifer Aniston keeps reacting to this, to which Perry responds with, “Look, I know she’s cute, but I could really use some advice.” Cracks me up every time. RIP Matthew Perry.

Matthew was the very best EVER! His comedic timing was perfection! As I watch him in mourning of his passing I can’t help but laugh. He was that great! He’ll continue to make generations laugh long after his passing. R.I.P. sweet Matthew.❤️

The night I heard the news, I was so shocked and sad. Our King of Sarcasm, Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry) is gone, but he will always be remember as someone who made us laugh when we we're feeling down or just wanted a good laugh. @@KeyDx7 it’s difficult to tell someone else what to do with their money as different people simply value different things. You do have a great suggestion though, will you be donating $10 to the non-profit rehab or similar?

In the reunion, Matthew mentioned how he felt he would die if he didn’t get a laugh from the audience. I think I can see that reaction at 2:38, when the audience doesn’t laugh altogether. I’m comforted to know that he had a good few years after recovery, and was at peace with himself, just as the great person he was.

Matthew was the type of person I could laugh and feel safe by when watching this show. He was one of the reasons why friends, not only became my obsession show, it became my comfort show. I always would watch it whenever I was feeling overwhelmed and it would help me to just calm down. Chandler was my second favorite character on the show and it’s still very upsetting that Matthew is gone.

I watched that one last night!

My younger sister and I used to watch Friends together back in the day and Chandler was our favorite character, she passed away 3 years ago and seeing Matthew Perry go this way brakes my heart once again, hopefully my sister already met him up in heaven... for a lot of people the cast of Friends was more than just characters in a show, they were actual friends and as the years pass I realize how lucky I was to have spend the time I did with my sister watching them. Rest in peace my friend.

that is because if you read his book Matthew Perry was Chandler he even admitted that in his book that's why he wanted the role he was in Essence Playing himself up to a degree if i recall him saying it was pretty much him up until him and Monica got together.

He made me laugh so many times, even when I was at my deepest, worst times. My favourite scene from him is serious though. When he convinces Erica to choose them as adoptive parents. I think it was a very touching performance by Matthew.

He was ALWAYS spicing things up on the set! RIP Mr Perry! Tell Gunther we said hi!

As long as I live I’ll never forget the extreme physical comedy reaction Perry played out in less than a second as Chandler realizes he’s smoking again, punctuated with the “OH MY GOD!” pointing at his hand and cigarette! 😂

It's still not believable that Matthew Perry is gone, he really brought the show to life. At season 2 Episode 3, Chandler said to Raichal "I'm gonna die alone" Because he was afraid to be alone at his final days, Broke my heart when I saw that scene again 😢😢

One of my fav scenes of Matt was when him and Joey were trapped in Monica's bedroom when Ross and Rachel were having a long talk about their breakup. And Chandler finds some condoms so he does the "huh?" look to Joey who replies "You never know, we might have to repopulate the earth!" and Chandler says "And... CONDOMS are how we're going to do that..." lol their chemistry was so good during this show. One of the first shows my wife and I bonded over when we first lived together. His humor has influenced so many people and the sarcastic, dry humor is something I still use to this day.

I do not know, I know it by heart and it is still funny - obviously the original is the best but first I watched it in Ukrainian, an episode per day when I had a chance as a kid. I think the humor is timeless, not forced, amazing chemistry between the cast. I am in Ottawa now and Matthew grew here, it hit hard, despite all the craziness and all the devastation in the world, it hit so hard...

It breaks my heart now when I watch friends 😢. My favourite blooper is when Monica says 'it's huge' and he looks down and says 'thanks'..gold

Him and Matt were my two favorites on the show. They played off one another as smooth as butter. I really enjoyed Matthew for his ability with the hilarious quick sarcastic one liners. Not sure if there will ever be another one as good as he was. RIP Matthew, you are going to be sorely missed.

Mathew is the icon of humour, wit, joy, and kindness. Not to say how handsome the man is. IS, and it will never be WAS. He is in our hearts forever.

I've always loved the part when Chandler was messing around with Rachel's boss and gets handcuffed to the filing cabinet, and hits the back of his head with the door. can't imagine what he went through to stay in character!!! granted it wasn't supposed to be the take that stayed but it's always a winner in my heart

I’ve been watching Friends on loop for past 10 years. I know it by heart and it’s still as funny as it was a decade ago. Chandler was one of the funniest characters. And I really felt that Matthew played himself in that role. It was just so natural. I’m just sad he had to go through so much and finally when he got better, he passed.

Could be Matthew Perry more loved by us? He'll live forever in our hearts. Chandler is hands down my favorite character ever. Thanks Matthew for put a lots of smiles on faces around the world.

Matthew and Matt will always be my 2 favorite Friends members.

Mr. Perry was, in my humble opinion, one of the finest actors (along with Ms. Kudrow, who wrote the forward to his autobiography) of their generation. Lots of laughter, yes, but he could also deliver the dramatic goods. In Pace Requiescat.

Matthew was, is and continues to be a huge beloved part of peoples lives through Friends syndication, from being a fond memory to newly discovered, what an amazing legacy to have

In the scene where Phoebe mimics the bagpipes that is being played by Ross to seek Monica and Chandler's permission for him to play that on their wedding, there is a blooper where Chandler also did the same bagpipes mimic in the most hilarious way. 😂

I always liked him best in Friends. I have the same type of sarcastic humor, not as great as his of course but love that style. Such a great actor. My favorite improvised scene is where he is handcuffed to the closet in the office of Rachel's boss and the drawer hits him in the back of his head. So great that he never breaks character and that they have kept it in! RIP Matthew

Last year it was the amazing Kevin Conroy who passed away long before his time; today it's Matthew Perry. I was born in 87' and these two Artists were the sole reason I got into acting. It's this different kinda pain when someone who was there during your formative years is gone so suddently. To anyone who's ever battled an addiction or been a victim of violence: DO NOT ever let a hateful notion 'there's something wrong with me' sink in. Trust me, it's a recipe for self hatred and compulsive anxieties later on. When we suffer and we need a break, it's only natural to think: maybe if I wasn't 'different', if I was 'normal' I would be accepted. No, we all struggle with our own demons, addictions or anxieties in the same way the haters will always find something else to prey upon. For ex; I've always had kinda androgynous look, which was a fuel for bullies when I was growing up. I embraced it, used it to my advantage in my acting / modeling career, I was almost the face of Leon in these new Resident Evil games :)
