Hey guys! So I know this update is over a year later xD, but after doing a lot more research, I found out that the Pokemon Stadium 2 Challenge Cup Shiny isn’t 1/491,520 chance; it actually has a normal chance of 1/8192. The reason why it has the normal chances of a shiny is because back in Generation 2, shiny Pokemon were determined by their individual values. If their Defense, Speed, and Special IV’s equaled 10 and also their Attack IV equaled 2, 3, 6 ,7 ,10, 11, 14, or 15, they’ll be shiny. The math being: (1/16 * 1/16 * 1/16 * 8/16, since their IV’s can range from 0 - 15). And since in Challenge Cup the Pokemon are randomly generated along with their individual values, they will have the same odds as a Shiny. The math I was doing in this video was (1/60 * 1/8192) because I was taking into account the odds of getting the 1 of 60 Pokemon that are generated. Really sorry for this mess up haha, but the Pokemon Colosseum Shadow Shiny odds are accurate because the Pokemon goes under two shiny checks which is basically (1/8192)^2. Nonetheless, I hope you guys enjoy the video! :D

I was trying to get a shiny in Sun and when I go to the Pokémon Center to replenish Sing's PP, the nurse tells me my Pokémon were infected and I started freaking out because I knew what it was, but thought that healing them would make the pokerus disappear lmao

The first shiny I caught (excluding red gyrados) I caught without realizing. I didnt have a tentacool so I caught one. Later caught another, was doing some box rearranging & realized my tentacools were different colors!

My copy o pokemon emerald is probably blessed by the heavens, as I found ou 3 of the tiles where to find feebas and catched the pokerus at least 8 times (I play that copy of emerald from 2007 and even today I complete it at least 2 times a year)

Missingno exploit gave me pokerus mew and infected all my starters. I thought it was bad. My buddy did the same with missingno and got a missingno with pokerus and it ended up freezing the game and wiping his save file.

Pokerus happened to me recently in Platinium. I was going through my Challenge of finishing the game using only statuts attacks. Which is hard. And when healing them, Nurse Joy told me they had it. My mind was blown. It probably makes the challenge easier and I'm not complaining about it. Also you didn't talk about missing with the Master Ball. Quite a long time ago, I discovered that Master Ball doesn't have 100% chance of catching but 99,9% or something like that. It never happened to me though and I think it has been discovered because people have found the info in the source code, not by the worst bad luck ever that missing with the Master Ball would be.

When I played pokemon crystal, I was surfing about in the water when I encountered a SHINY tentacool!!! I WAS LITERALLY JUMPING IN MY BED LMAO😂

When I was a kid I accidentally triggered the ZZAZZ glitch on my Pokemon Yellow. Basically all my PC Boxes got completely full of glitched Pokemon named ZaZaZaZaZ or AzAzAzAz, all with random sprites, random levels and random abilities. If I tried to release one of those Pokemon or withdrew it to my party, the game would crash. Basically it ruined my save file and I had to start over. It was at a time where websites like Bulbapedia didn't exist and these Gen 1 glitches weren't properly documented anywhere because the internet was still in its infancy. To this day I still don't know how the fuck I triggered it because the steps to recreate the glitch aren't that simple and involve a lot of number manipulation.

My empoleon became infected with pokérus in platinum when I was 10. But I didn't understand anything about EVs or the pokérus itself and it was my first pokémon game, so I was just scared because my whole pokémon team was sick. 8 years later, I found out exactly what pokérus was and now I'm sad because I never found a pokémon infected with pokérus again.

I did the fly glitch in pokemon colosseum unintentionally to catch a horde of pefect iv'd shiny spinda with the same pattern all with a hidden ability and inflicted with pokerus on mirage island. The one I caught was level 100 with my masterball I won from some lottery, I used my shiny friend safari perfect iv'd imposter ditto inflicted with pokerus to help me knock out the others :3

I remember I got pokerus naturally almost 10 years ago in Pokémon Heartgold, and having a big wtf moment not knowing what it was or if my game was alright. Glad I figured out the mechanics online quickly and was able to store and eventually spread it to a bunch of spare gen IV pokemon

I remember SOS chaining for shinies and had the joy of getting 2 shiny spinarak at the same time, meaning I had to intentionally KO one to catch the other 😅

You can infect everyone in your party with Pokerus after you get just one carrier. It’s super useful.

also store one of the pokemon in the pc.. your pokemon only keep the pokerus status for a set amount of time, even though they will keep the benefits of the "virus" they won't be able to infect any more. If you store one in the pc you can use it to infect all the pokemon you want. (not sure why it doesn't reset in the pc..)

TheOnlyStutz Probably the timer is based on steps taken while holding the Pokémon in your inventory, so if you never hold it the step timer never gets lower.

So this probably sounds weird...but in literally every playthrough of gen 3 I have ever played, at one point or another I caught a pokemon with the pokerus in it. And I have played a lot of gen 3 as it was my favorite for the longest time. I had no idea it was that rare.

If memories serve, I believe that mirage island would appear by speaking to a guy that has binoculars and says if it’s there or not. Also you must have castform to make it pop up

Vaishali Suryawanshi Mirage island pops up when the last four digits of the personality value of a Pokémon in your party matches a random 4 digit number generated that day (always 0000 if the game was started with a dead internal battery) and stays as long as you keep the matching Pokémon in your party or until a new number is generated. It’s extremely rare and doesn’t have anything to do with Castform, that was probably just the Pokémon who’s values happened to match the day mirage island popped up for him. The part about the man is true though, he’s in Pacifilog town, and you can check all the Pokémon in your pc to see if they match that day by switching them into your party then talking to the man.

In the latest Pokemon Shield I've had pokerus infection. That was the first time I've heard of that and I started pokemon at the beginning :D

How to REALLY get mew: after battling the trainers on the bridge, go left with an abra, go down, but pause as you go down, and the trainer will spawn right as you pause, and teleport to the pokemon center, go back up the bridge, go to the right, battle the slowpoke trainer, but at a distance, so he walks up to you, then defeat him, go back, and the pause menu will pop up. Close it, and mew will appear.

You forgot to mention that you have to hold the game upside-down for the first three steps and put gloves on before the final step. If I remember correctly you have to move the volume slider to different levels between steps but I dont recall exactly

I guess you just have shit luck. I've had a few shinies over the years just from random encounters. My first one being from leaf green. It's very likely that you have come across a shiny but it was one of the ones that didn't have a very noticable color swap. I didn't even know what a shiny was until I caught a golden Pidgey and looked up what the hell was going on (I completely missed the animation of the shiny sparkle). While you might not want to acknowledge that a shiny skipped right passed you, it's an extremely great likely hood that you have run from or even killed a shiny before. Also, did you never catch the red gyrados from lake rage in gold or silver or the remakes? Or get the shiny haxorus from completing the Pokedex in black 2 or white 2? I mean they might be guaranteed shinies but they're still shinies lol

If ur still looking for shinies, try to chain pokemon in ORAS or ultra sun/moon. I didnt look for them but found a ditto, munna and chansey. And even came across a shiny crabrawler munching on berries.

Man I've caught pokerus literally 5 times in a casual sw&sh play through. I swear they increased the odds

I must be blessed. I get pokerus pretty commonly in Pokémon games. Mirage Island actually came up for me the first time I attempted to look for it, too. Shinies seem rarer to me than those things, for that reason lol.

Ayyy I actually got PKRS in gen 3 by accident. Granted I've played pokemon for over a decade but still it's cool to know

I remember catching pokerus when I was younger, didn't think anything of it 🤷‍♂️ until watching this video I never knew it was a rare anomaly. Same with mirage Island. Landed there on my first play through, for the longest time after that I tried going back but never understood why I couldn't find it. Fast forward 15 years later, and now I know why I never found it again 😆

Actually, PokeRus spreads to other pokemon in your party if you have one pokemon infected. If you got one pokemon with PokeRus and then the PokeRus went away, then that would be crazy RNG, but more than likely you just got PokeRus once and spreaded it around since it's very contagious.

Cheesy Girat pokerus was extremely common for me in gen 5 in black and white 2 especially black 2 but it only happened after i beat the champion

Also I saw a lot of mirage island in Ruby? I thought it was built in to always be up haha

I have been to mirage island twice as a child. I thought this was a normal part of the game, if I’m being honest... this actually blew my mind.

I remember first catching pokerus on emerald. Was so confused at first because I didn’t know what it meant.. kept it alive by keeping an infected Pokémon in the PC. Also caught a shiny elektrike that play through. Shiny manectric looks awesome!

I got PokeRus when i was about 7 years old... but then I released the pokemon cause' I thought it was a virus that killed the pokemon...

Davide Meregalli you have a fair chance to infect your Pokemon with pokerus in sun and moon when u heal a Pokemon who has pokerus with no pokerus pokes. In my sun version I have like 3 pokes with pokerus and I got it when I put my party in the Pokemon center

I came back to watch some old Dobbs vids and I remembered that I have pokerus on two pokemon on my ultra sun save file

I can honestly say that I’ve come across shineys back to back twice in go....... but it’s GO

I just recently got pokerus while starting a new playthrough of pokemon white, and of course I saved two pokemon with it in my PC

Last year I was given Pokemon Platinum as a late birthday gift (I already had Pearl, but I wanted the game after watching Chuggaconroy's playthrough of it and wanted to experience the Giratina jumpscare), and when I started the game and was grinding outside of Jubilife City I came across a wild shiny shinx. It was my first ever shiny encounter, and in my favorite game no less. I also found a shiny dynamax salazzle when I was playing Shield, although it was through someone looking for others to join in the raid so I'm not sure if it was influenced or not (or if it's possible to influence shiny dynamax encounters).

Something that happened to me back on GBC Pokemon Gold, I was in Dragon's Den grinding through Dratinis, when my brother decided to take over for me. He killed a Dratini with my Snorlax and the level counter kept increasing until the Snorlax reached lvl 100. Not sure what happened, but that has to be pretty rare, unless intentionally exploiting a bug or some sort.

Once you have Pokerus, it stay some days one your Pokemon then disapearm except if the Pokemon is put in the pc, the pokerus is then "frozen" as long as the Pokemon stays in the pc. And yeah, the Pokerus is contagious. Makes some fights with an infected Pokemon in you party, and the whole'll party'll end up with Pokerus. That's how some peoples send infected low level pokemons in wonder trade.

My ex played Pokemon for the first time (Emerald on GBA) a few years ago... She says, "I think this Pokemon is the wrong color". I freak out because she found a shiny on her first ever playthrough and I have been playing since Gen 1 and never found one. A week later she says, "What's Pokerus? The nurse just said I have Pokerus". I kid you not, her first f***ing playthrough. 🤦🏼‍♂️

Last April I started playing my old copy of Pokémon SoulSilver again, and I caught a wild Pokémon with Pokérus. I had never heard of this so I looked it up, and then immediately bragged my luck to my friends. And yes, I have Pokémon with the virus stored in the PC. Four of them.

Usually I get pokerus through trades at some point, but, in a run through of pokemon sun, i did somehow get pokerus on one of my pokemon. i believe it caught it somewhere in the cave to ten carrot hill. whil i no longer have that save file, i had gotten it on my shiny fearow later, and immediately transferred it to pokemon bank where it sat until recently, when i started a new save file on pokemon moon.

I thought when shiny hunter's over react but one day when i was soft resetting for an shiny Ho-Oh and i jumped around the room all excited when i finally have'd one. lol

​@@otakuwithinsomnia6465 Highly likely that those are hacked pokémon, if you got them by WiFi on a modern DS console. It is actually very easy to hack and generate/modify pokés for the modern games. And since those stats can all *technically* happen in the game, not even a machine can pick them out as "fake". They are legitimate pokémon as far as the game is concerned. In fact the only things that set the game off in terms of "This pokémon is hacked" are like, IV/EV numbers that can't naturally happen (just a calculation, not that I know how to do it). Having Having moves that the pokémon cannot learn (easily checked in Bulbapedia). Or having the ~wrong~ encounter area (this one is a doozy. It checks where you "met" the pokémon, the ID number, the level where you "caught" it, and if it's a legendary, and if everything doesn't click just right, it doesn't work)

The first Pokemon I ever cought in alpha sapphire ( not my starter) had pokerus then a little while later I got another

I had a fomantis with pokerus in my ultra moon playthrough! And I had a shiny caterpie in my first playthrough of X :)

I'll never forget my first shiny. I was playing crystal and I was grinding in victory road, and a greenish Onix appeared, luckily I knew what it was, so I caught it successfully. Well about 15 minutes later I found another shiny onix. Yep, two full odds shiny onixs within 20 minutes of each other. I'll never forget the look on my brothers face.

Update: HOLY FRICKING CRAP! I was ev training my milotic in emerald in the desert underpass, and I found a shiny whismur, and since it had roar I didn't attempt to weaken it, and I ultra balled it and caught it first try. I am sky high right now.
