PART TWO HAS BEEN RELEASED: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pmRpl9mof5mZiNo.html I don't hate railfanning itself, don't worry There's just certain things that make it really annoying at times, and these are some of them. Enjoy the video! For all you "🤓" people out there, I'm talking about *appearance*, not performance

I had that like 6 months ago during the summer. I was trainspotting/railfanning on a spot where a lot of freight trains come. But the location i was standing at was pretty known for being a suicidal spot. So this lady and her 2 kids came towards me and asked what i was doing and if everything was alright with me. I said "yes. I'm totally fine and not suicidal" she said okay, but insisted that i had to call my mother to make sure that she knew where i was. I was like "wtf?!?!?"

I can relate to that issue. I really hate to railfan while in the car because, one, I don't want to go to jail filming license plates because of vehicles passing by my location. Two, because it's so dark, I can barely read the numbers. And 3 (plus 4), I'm trying not to film in an area with trees & I'm not filming my parents in the process. And 5, my radio's battery didn't have to die.

I’ve only been railfanning for a year so far, but I already relate to a few of these. It kills my soul anytime I hear a train horn in the distance and I’m not there for it, I’m really trying to push to Railfan in the afternoons sometimes because I know for a fact some of them do pass through around that time of day. But I do get them on a fairly consistent basis during morning hours which isn’t the worst, but I do grow a little tired of seeing RJ Corman locals often without any signs of NS. Not to mention intermodals are the only thing I’m able to get as of late, but I can’t complain on that too much. I don’t mind the woods or trees being in the way too much, since it can add to the surprise factor with any encounter. I really don’t care if the units are elephant style or not, as long as I can identify the units (as in the numbers because they really matter to me) I’m happy. But I’m not a fan of railfanning at night because YOU CAN’T SEE S**T!!! No but really, the lack of lightening really bothers me. Then there’s the unfortunate possibility of dealing with entitled morons acting like they’re the law of the land around them, even if it’s really owned by whatever RR runs through. I mentioned this because I once had an incident with some old man giving me an attitude because I unintentionally kinda trespassed in his “property”, he was being unreasonable and throwing a fit over nothing basically. I’ll probably never go to that crossing again because of that, but if I do I won’t be so nice next time. It really does get frustrating when no trains pass through when you go out, nobody can lie on that. I once actually cried over the lack of rail action, and normally I just don’t want to cry. I may not agree with everything in this video, but I’m a polite guy and don’t mind giving some of my own dislikes in the hobby.

Thanks for the watch, I'm very picky as you can probably tell so that's why I had so much to say in the video 😂 I still have a lot more things that I like then I dislike about the hobby though, that's for sure. A lot of people who are more new to the hobby probably can't agree with everything in this video since most people are probably just happy to see a train, but when you catch as much as I do and have intel for pretty much every train, there's a lot more to complain about if you know where I'm coming from. But at the end of the day, a train is a train and it's still fun to see, since that's what we as railfans enjoy.

We talked about you for a bit (and LOTS of other stuff) and couldn’t figure out how your Subs have shot up so quickly! LOL!😂 You got us stumped! We did come up with one possible answer, you got LOADS of more time “to catch stuff and edit” then we both do combined! LOL, that’s all we could come up with!😅 But we both really are proud how far you have come in such a short amount of time! No joke, the rate you are going, you will be at 5K by the new year!

I agree with everything but I also hate railfaning in the dark because I hate but I have to go to school and I can't railfan in the morning or something but rail fan is pretty cool but I get to miss a lot of trains I broke my phone a couple months ago before making the channel I missed it so many cool trains that went by especially the BNSF 25th anniversary.

10: i dont mind the bells. sometimes the engine noise drowns it out. 9: elephant style seems weird to me. 8: at one point my dad's car broke down so i had to wait a bit and the last train before my brother came to jumpstart the car was a 5 goddamn minute long train. only one locomotive in the front and one as the mid dpu. and it was a fully loaded intermodal train. how the hell can this be possible??? 7: solo leaders are okay for amtrak but what the hell is that 6: gevos are repetitive but i dont give a crap about how many i can catch or how many emds i can catch 5: i dont enjoy gevos, like them or hate them 4: everywhere i railfan its impossible to not get trees and brush shadows cuz its the pacific northwest 3: trains are slightly fast in the pnw 2: i got jumpscared by an amtrak train because the green signal burned out dishonorable mention: i missed many trains before. 1: never happened to me.

Can't forget camera problems lol. That moment when you realize you left your memory card at home or forgot to charge your battery. One time my phone died as a train was rounding the corner with NS 1074 leading. Also the sheer unpredictability of absolutely everything... 9/10 times you don't get enough advance warning to make plans to go catch something, and are forced to miss it as you sit around trapped in school or work. You really gotta be on your toes 24/7 to see the interesting stuff.

I railfan on my bike and I hate when there is a super long train so I can't get across the train yard quick enough to catch the locomotives again. MG Rail is not a consistant rail company, so I have to guess, however Louisville and Indiana Railroad comes to the yard everyday around the same time, so I'm able to chase that railroad. I'll chase MG Rail only if it is operating after L&I Railroad. Because I ride my bike I'm also not able to bring my tripod, so when filming the trains, it gets annoying when there's a super loud train horn which causes me to jump and the filming shakes a bit. Edit: something else I hate is when my mom drives me somewhere to see a train, and the moment we leave, I see headlights, and it's confirmed that a train is coming in the direction, however my mom won't drive back.

3:53 is the one I can relate to the most. I was waiting, FOR ONE TRAIN, and it was a local as well that had both 1411 and 1412 (Sister unit Triclop 60m units), and ended up staying from 11 AM to 4 PM (I left when they started to leave sandpoint), AND ENDED UP GETTING 13 TRAINS. Don't get me wrong, I was glad to get a ton of rail action, BUT I ONLY CAME FOR ONE TRAIN, and I just wanted to go home.

The fact that Norfolk southern only invests in safetran for their crossings. Its a replica x10,000. Un Unique. 3. Cars. 4. Other railfanners trying to steal my shot. 5. Red signals. 6. I have quite a few things I want to bring up myself lol. I fan on a double track in Springfield, MA in CSX territory. I would hate it when I would have a train that has SD70s, Dash 8’s, and AC4400’s, basically anything less common than GEVOS get blocked by a passing train, or a stopped train being pulled by GEVOS. It’s like they have something against me lol 😅. I also love sitting by the tracks for eternity on the weekends (I’m talking 8-12 hours) and the sun in the summer would cause my phone to overheat and not film anymore until I cool it down with my car’s A/C. It gets really bad when I have a train on my hands haha. Foamers. Especially. I have a grandma who brings her grandson who is like 9 and he always walks over to my tripod, gets in the way, shouts, talks, flails arms, all while the train is in the shot. He throws rocks as well and that’s so freaking annoying. Tall vehicles. Vehicles like trucks and busses that stop right in front of my tripod while the train is coming just.. y’know lol Stopping trains at the last minute, especially. I would have trains with special units on them as well be stopped at the last freaking moment, and I would run out of time. And last but not least, the wind. Blows my tripod over, makes everything cold, and you get that exasperating sound distortion when the wind blows into your mic haha
