I'm sorry but no one can deny that this movie has some of the best movie quotes of all time!! when Tony said "looking good baby keep up the bad work" and "this is the last time you going to see a bad guy like this"and "when your effing with me your effing with the best" and "I want the world and everything in it" Plus many more are straight classic quotes in LIFE.

It's not Scarface himself that's idolize, it's the "come-up" made by his type of character that's look at. That made people feel like you can come from the bottom and rule the "WORLD" so to speak. And his "I don't give a fuck" attitude is what got him there (which people admired) but was his ultimate demise because unlike his money, Tony actually never grew as a person. Went out like a mf GANGSTA OF ALL GANGSTAS though! He put in more work than his entire security force did. Great movie. Classic, 1983

Anthony Jackson .. I'm speaking of what I saw and many other black children have seen growing up in the hood. None of the drug dealers look like Tony Montana on my block. So when I speak of what I relate to, its in regards to what I've personally seen. In other words New Jack City resonated more with me then Scarface or The Godfather!! I just don't understand how black people really related to Scarface or The Godfather. I understand the rags-to-riches story outside of that, none of us really knew of a Tony Montana walking around. But a lot of us knew a Nino Brown,Freeway Ricky or Frank Lucas.

Manny. He was the mvp. They got started because of him; he got the job to kill Rebenga in that camp in the beginning, he got them the job at the diner, he arranged the meet with the drug dealers (that Tony nearly screwed up) and he saved Tony from the chainsaw, taking a bullet in the process. When they made it big and were sitting in that mansion, Tony called him his "junior partner." FUCK YOU MANG! WHO PUT THIS SHIT TOGETHER? ME! Not true. Manny did. It was awesome to watch, but I dont idolize Tony. He was a crackhead and wild. He was way over-protective of Gina, and killed his best friend. He kinda meant well for not wanting to kill a woman and her kids because he wanted kids himself, but he was too wild; you couldn't trust somebody like that.

maxer33 Tony broke all of his own principles though. He got high on his own supply, he screwed over his sister, Manolo, and Elvira (even though she was just as much of a junkie as he was), and he broke his word to Sosa (even though he said it was because of the woman and child...it was really about his ego and dude yelling at him to do it or else), I’m a logical thinker and I’ve never seen anything in Tony that was admirable. Sure he had the money but, what good is it if you’re so reckless and high you get murdered or OD, and you get your whole family killed along with you. Scarface is a cautionary tale, it’s not written to be inspirational...I never understood how anyone found inspiration in the movie. Don’t get me wrong...it’s a classic and one of my favorite movies...I just don’t idolize Tony Montana.

No. Tony killed his boss because when when they went to meet Sosa, Sosa got a call that Frank's associate was a spy. But because Tony never trusted him and his disdain for Frank's associate showed, Sosa knew that he could trust Tony. Tony tried to close the deal with Sosa but Frank set him up by trying to set him up with a crooked because he thought tony was now working with Sosa. But he denied to offer. So then After the failed attempt he retaliated. Killed Frank and the crooked cop. Saved his body guard and offered him a job. I believe this movie showed the paradox of have good intentions with a self-destructive mindset..

I always root for the underdog. Tony is the core of all great entrepreneurs. Ambitious. Loyal. Wanting to do better and help his family friends, put everybody on. But his own inner demons and anxieties took over after he got comfortable with the lifestyle. He tried to fit in the mold. That's why I love the "Bad Guy" speech. It's the truth. @@da420wizard6 this is late, but my take on the whole Manny situation is the fact that Tony wasn't cool with the fact of her coming into this life. He tried to give his mom the dirty money in hopes she'd take it and use it for whatever she may need. She denies it so he gives it to Gina in hopes she do some good with it. Later we see her at the club which is basically like a meetup spot and where most of the low lives hang. Now we look at Manny. He's a charismatic womanizer and he's been shown and has even done stuff infront of Tony. Seeing her at a club dancing with someone who reminds him of Manny even more so when that guy is taking her to the bathroom to have sex he flips his shit. Now we move forward at the highpoint of the film. Tony is in trouble with Sosa, Manny isn't answering, his mom can't find his sister and says she's becoming more like Tony, and you go find her at the address she's at with him answering the door and both of em in robes. He just goes into a blind rage and thinks his womanizer bestfriend/brother took advantage of his sister while he's in the worst possible state right now having been caught by the police (which was a deal set up by Manny) and failing Sosa in killing that informant before making the speech. His judgement was clouded. Even later in that scene he's snorting a bunch of coke at his house before the big climax battling his inner demons wondering why he killed his bestfriend and is full of regret even more so after hearing that they got married and he finally found someone to settle down with. Pretty tragic if you ask me since he lost both his homie and his sister.

You are so right about Michelle Pfeiffer's character: Dry as DUST. It was the character, though; not the actress. Blame the writers and producers. Pfeiffer could have brought the heat, steam and smoke to that character. I think they wrote the character that way on purpose, to fit a stereotype.

Perhaps someone has already said this, and you kind of hit on it, but the implication isn't that Tony is merely overprotective of his sister and pissed at Manolo for seeing her, but like in the 1932 original, Tony has a deep-seated incestuous attraction to his sister that she articulates in the end before she's killed. Tony is a deeply fucked up person, but he lacks any tangible degree of introspective powers, which is why he becomes a greedy, mercurial cokehead and fucks up his interpersonal relationships along with his entire empire. A man who buys tigers as pets is a guy who wants to be seen a certain way, not a guy who looks deep within.

Every thing you said about this movie was straight facts. I didn't see this movie until I was a grown ass man and I thought Tony was way too into his sister and he did his boy grime. I didn't see the hype.
