Well at least one comic writer provided a plausible reason for that. Alan Scott was hit from behind by a thug with a stick, so it made a psychological crutch in Alan's willpower and since the rings are will-powered, it stopped working against wood.

The zombies were a unique case. Salt is commonly used to purify and calm the spirits. As for the water weakness the creator of One Piece has noted that rain water does not effect Devil Fruit users. The only water that effects them are large amounts of standing water, even so much as submerging shin deep in a bath tub can cause their bodies to lose a majority of their motor skills.

Actually it's moving water that's their weakness. Stationary water like bath water and the like isn't an issue, but water that moves like the Sea, that's a problem. Also you forgot Sea Prism Stone which is said to be stone made from the ocean, if that makes sense.

they are only affected by large quantities of "still" water, moving water (like rain, waves) will not affect them. also they need to be submerged beyond a certain point for it to weaken them (when standing the water must reach above the knee).

It's being submerged in water. Even bathing can affect them, in a lesser degree. The bigger amount of water they are submerged in, the weaker they get.

The real problems with Kryptonite are: 1. Only one color of it was supposed to ever exist: green. Green Kryptonite always has the same effect regardless of the writer. 2. It's supposed to be _a very rare material._ As in, *"need to go into space with a faster-than-light starship to an exploded irradiated planet fragment in a distant galaxy to get it"* rare. 3. Points 1 and 2 are always ignored by the writers.

The best weaknesses are simple human weaknesses. Got a superhuman guy? He has the same weaknesses as a human guy, but he's just more resistant to them. Of course, this breaks down if you start making your characters too overpowered (looking at you, DC), but you could fix that by having the power be temporary and limited. For instance, the Hulk is nigh-invulnerable and has a healing factor on top of that, just in case. However, both his durability and regeneration seem to use up his oomph, meaning that while he can endure a lot, enduring a lot more will cause him to revert back to Bruce Banner. Or you might try to exploit things superhuman endurance does not help you against; perhaps if brute force does not work, attack their mind or use pressure points... If you do give a character a specific weakness, make it something that can be overcome to an extent. Contrary to popular belief, Dracula did not combust when in direct sunlight; being out in the sun simply drained his powers. Now I can imagine a vampire character having to fight against this; only being able to use their powers (whatever they may be, vampire powers are rather vague) to their full extent when at night, while they are usually as weak if not weaker than humans during the day... perhaps they try to wrap up? Perhaps a British vampire in New York (see what I did there?) tries to stay in the shadows of buildings?

Ir's an impurity in the power battery. If one has the right amount of will power (SAY...Hal Jordan, Kyle Rayner, John Stewart...Abin Sur...), the yellow thing is kinda moot since you beat the Element of Fear itself.

I would say that martian manhunter,the guy who said that he was stronger than superman,has a lot of abilities and powers,but his greatest weakness is fire. Fire,as if half of fictional characters that have powers to control fire could actually beat him without breaking a sweat. That is a terrible weakness for a character that has a huge variety of powers.

Yellow isn't really a lanterns weakness anymore. And it isn't as weird when you look into the lore. The only reason lanterns were weak to the color yellow is because the fear entity was trapped inside their power battery for reasons I can't explain. However a skilled lantern, like Hal Jordan or John Stewart can overcome this weakness with their sheer willpower. What you should have covered is the original green lantern Alan Scott. His ring was weak to wood. Yes. Wood.

In the show proper, the Legendaries are on an entirely different level and cannot be defeated unless it's by the hands of another legendary or some ancient tool specifically meant to reel them in when they get out of hand. Even in the Mystery Dungeon series their has to be specific excuses as to why you can go toe to toe with legendary Pokémon. Usually it's because they just woke up and can't fight properly, or a special mcguffin, in all other cases you never actually beat them but just passed a checkpoint for the boss fight.

That's because Marvel characters don't have abstract weaknesses, they have realistic weaknesses. Iron Man is only human under that armor, and he's an alcoholic (and I don't know if it's this case in the comics, but in the movies, he's the direct or indirect cause of nearly every catastrophe.) Magneto may have incredible power, but he's not superhumanly durable, and he'll die as easily as the humans he so despises. Captain America (the man, not his shield) is not bullet proof. In fact, there are actually not that many Marvel characters I can think of who are superhumanly durable.

If you did a little extra research on Shazam's "weakness", you'd realize two things. #1: Shazam wasn't always his name, he started out as Captain Marvel. Thus, this wouldn't have been a problem, as his transformation keyword was not his name. #2: He can currently decide whether he's transforming or just saying the word, as evidenced in the animated movie Justice League: War. In it, he introduces himself as Shazam to the other heroes and nothing happens. So actually, this so-called weakness is invalid.

Shazam can say his name in the new 52 without transformer into his superhero persona and can tigger his transformation whenever he wants. What you guys were complaining about is when he was called captain marvel in the original dc universe where he calls the wizard name but guess what Shazam is not his name in the original universe it's the name of wizard and why do I have to explain it to you because apparently you guys didn't ether brother google it.

Well Daredevil's makes since... super good hearing/smell can make strong cents/loud noise even more painful. Think about it, lets say a very quite song on the radio plays, so you turn it up to full volume so you can hear it... what happens if immediately after that very quiet song, a very loud song plays, with your radio still on full volume? Answer it hurts your ears, a lot... So Daredevil's weakness isn't stupid or weird, it is logical and extremely inconvenient.

I get the Mumra weakness, actually. In quite a few real life mythos mirrors (and other reflections) can reveal the truth of things. The 'spell' that transforms him from sorcerer to demi-god just simply fails when the truth is revealed.

Green lantern weakness was retcon by Geoff johns in the last 15 years and its fear not yellow.

Well... that's kinda why Shazam's original name was "Captain Marvel", before Warner Brothers decided to be idiots... again. ... Seriously, Shazam was never actually named that until recent years. The comic was only called "Shazam" because Marvel Comics beat them to the copyright on the name, but Captain Marvel was always his official name within the pages.

About the Devil Fruit, it's from my understanding, the salt inside ocean water is a devil fruit users weakness. Like, Ace, Crocodile and a few others were handcuffed using handcuffs created from ocean salt and couldn't use their powers. Does that mean you can beat luffy by pelting him with enough salt to make him pass out?

5:33 never heard of the loophole you mentioned. Also this only affects a devil fruit user who is submerged in water (usually sea water) to a degree. Rain a drinking water are fine as long as you are not buried in it. Also their have been some people who got around this weakness like brook who is so light just being bones that he can run on top of water until he tires out, aokiji who can freeze the water below him before he becomes submerged in it, and fishman devil fruit users like vander deckan and jack who while they cannot move underwater they will not die underwater due to their fishman traits like gills.

When he Is out of water for extended period of time like say 3 days or longer, he does lose some of his power but not all of it. Only if he is like put inside a super heated room or if he is in the middle of the desert is when he starts to get exhausted quick and slowly die but that happens to humans too so I'm not complaining.

Ignorant much? Aquaman is weak to dry weather yes, but that's only in extended periods of time. And it's not like water isn't readily avalible where he works. Or who he works with. Hell, he can just have Metamorpho turn into water for a second and splash him to perk him up. Any little bit of water can wake him up if he's getting dehydrated. And even then, that's only in extreme cases. Outside of that, he's still MUCH stronger than the average person and can brairape ya. (No joke, his telepathy isn't just on fish. ANYTHING can be hit with his blast. He just cna't mind control you like he does with marine life. He can still make you forget how to count to three and make you stay in a hospital ward drinking your food through a straw because you have no bodily functions if he wanted to)

Here's a stupid weakness (that should've been put on the list): Magic users, in the anime Fairy Tail, specialising in Dragon Slayer magic (magic which is powerful enough to kill a dragon), become nauseated when on any transportation. Seriously, whenever they're on a car, boat, flying machine, whatever, they become so sick they lose the will to fight.

What about Dragon type Pokemon being weak to their own move types? Every other type of Pokemon is resistant to their own move type, so why are Dragons the exception?

Normal, fighting, rock, ground, flying, fairy, bug, and ghost aren't resistant to themselves either, in fact ghost is also weak to itself. Plus, when you think a about it the one thing best suited to kill dragon is another dragon so it's weakness to itself makes sense

actually Piccollo's hearing was mentioned when future Trunks was warning Goku about the androids saying he heard the whole conversation

well for devil fruit users they can drink water and bath in water but not sea water if I remember correctly is its sea water not regular water :P

since you brought up captain planet, does anyone else think that CP is actually just an ordinary guy that gets spirited away each time the main characters call upon him? like he's actually just an ordinary office worker that every day he's just trying to do his job and suddenly he's pulled away from it. what would be ironic, is if this were true, but he was working for like an oil company or something, something that either pollutes or deforests.

So, Shazam, Hal Jordan, and Wonder Woman we're talked about in this video. Hopefully in the future we'll get some Death Battles featuring them. I would suggest Hal Jordan vs Richard Rider (Green Lantern vs Nova), Shazam vs Thor (or anyone else), Wonder Woman vs Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers).

Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel and Thor have already been in Death Battle. Wonder Woman lost her DB against Rogue, Captain Marvel lost hers to Android 18 and Thor won his against Raiden (MK).

I don't think ScrewAttack is ever going to touch Goku again because no matter who he fights, if he loses, there'll be a huge fan backlash screaming at them.

Red Kryptonite's effects are actually random. Some forms of media do say it makes him mad, but the original effects are random. It could give kryptonians an ant's head, makes them clumsy, etc.

What about DBZ Hirudagarn's (Funimation) weakness to loud noises or (Japanese) weakness to profanity. Also Kick Buttowski's character Paper Cut's weakness.

The deal with Namekians is that that "weakness" was brought about in the Lord Slug movie, which is non-cannon. This is why it's never brought up ever in the actual show.

I'd like to see more of that 'puppet' character in a separate video just to learn more about him because I'm like 'WHO IS THAT?!'

maybe namekians can handle the pitch of yells, but the whistling is what does the trick, im not sure, i mean, some times even similar loud noises have different sound frequencies

The golden-age Superman wasn't weak against Kryptonite, or anything else. That is until a live action radio show's voice actor wanted to take a vacation, in 1948. Afterwards, the Kryptonite weakness was so well-known, Action Comics had no choice but to make it cannon.

Namekian hearing is referenced again when Trunks appears. Trunks tells Goku his story and Piccolo hears it even though the two Saiyans flew away for a private convo.

Speaking of the secret #11, that reminds me of something about another Haim Saban show from back when, VR Troopers. They had their own version of the Putties, the name escapes me right now, but the only way they ever beat them was by having them touch each other, and they would electro-cancel each other out of existence. If it was an odd number, they always made sure three touched at the same time. So...if that's the only way to defeat them, why did Grim Lord never send just one?

Red Kryptonite didn't make him angry. What it did was cause some strange effect for two weeks, it could remove one of his powers, or transform him into a cat person, or whatever, every pieces of the red kryptonite would cause a different effect. After the two weeks passed, Superman would return back to normal, and also he would now be immune to the particular piece of Red Kryptonite that had affected him that time (but still would be affected by any other new pieces of red Kryptonite he found)

I'm just glad the green rock that causes literal homesickness didn't take the top spot...that stuff catches enough grief...on another note, I'm surprised Mum-ra didn't list higher

I only like to clarify that for One piece its "Standing Water" that is weakness, Moving or running water Like Rain for example has no effect

I have two replacements. Instead of Shazam, have Achilles and his heel, and instead of Green Lantern, I'd put Captain Underpants weaknesses to water on the head. The name thing and color yellow aren't a problem in current comics.

What about the fairies in Fairly Odd Parents? They have universal level magic, but become totally helpless if under a butterfly net.

To be fair, Piccolo verbally clarifies that Namekians have heightened hearing, and even demonstrates as much when he hears all of Goku's conversation with Trunks when no one else could, so the whistling thing.... kinda checks out.... but only kinda... yeah, that was kinda dumb how it was handled in Lord Slug, though.

The color yellow has been retconned somewhat after Hal Jordan became Parallax. Yellow became the color of fear and green became its opposite counterpart.

OK Screwattack, now that you covered some weaknesses, please considered making these Death Battles happen: 1. Skeletor VS Mumm-Ra 2. Nightwing VS Daredevil

What about X.A.N.A.'s monsters from code lyoko. They got a bullseye shaped symbol on them that, if so much as scratched, will imediatley kill them

The "Shazam" thing only applies to pre-Flashpoint Marvel Family characters. Post-Flashpoint, Shazam can say "Shazam" both in and out of his transformed state and it only affects him if he wills it to. Pre-Flashpoint this wasn't as big a problem either since, you know, his name was Captain Marvel before the reboot.

Rock is weak to paper. No matter of the magnitude, even a molecule of paper can beat rock.

No mention of the dragonslayers from fairy tail? Motion sickness from anything they ride in/on, trains, cars, airships, horses, etc

Mumm-Ra's weakness wasn't 'retconned' with sunglasses. He lost that weakness when the Evil Gods rejuvenated him, removing it when they made him even stronger.

I'm so glad they put the color yellow and tying up Wonder Woman on here, but I don't agree with SHAZAM or Superman being on here. For SHAZAM, it was a weakness, sure, but it can also be used as a weapon, like when he fought Superman in JLU. As for Superman, yeah, the colored Kryptonite's are weird (except Red, that's actually cool) but overall the idea of Kryptonite is pretty deep. It being being the only remnants of Krypton and that his homeworld is killing him is kind of cool in my opinion.

The Shazam thing doesn't work anymore. It was true when he was called Captain Marvel but now that DC revamped him to be "Shazam", he can say it anytime he wants.
