Good exercises 1. Squat 2. The walking lunge 3. Deadlift 4. Step up to knee raise 5. Plank 6. Push ups 7. One arm bent over rows 8. Burpees 9. Calf raises 10. Weighted walk
excellent video, only thing that I would add to it is a lower body movement in the frontal plane like a side step up, and a single-leg dumbbell deadlift (I love them to improve balance). As a former powerlifter, I am glad for all of the pulling movements that I trained which helped with longer hikes with heavy backpacks (Army)

This is great! Thanks! I've been progressively working on doing more difficult hikes, but really steep inclines is where I struggle the most. I do one day of strengthen training a week, but I'm going to up it to at least two, if not 3.
Excellent video..I have watched many videos on this topic. But this is the best one yet

I'm going to attend my first mountain run this summer (20 mile long and a 0.62 mile climb), and although I've been hiking all my life, it is going to be tough! I am in good shape now but I've trained way more strength than cardio. Thank you for the great tips in the video! I will incorporate all of these exercises in my training regimen up until the summer!

Hello! This looks like a really great workout regimen! I don't have any experience in working out really, but I am preparing for a long distance hike soon. I was wondering about splitting the workouts up and the time/sets for each workout. Do you have something like that written out?

What exactly do you need? You can split them up, I'm just not sure what you need.

@@TheAnimeTrainer Probably whatever that could help me the most with hills and core strength building. Hills kill me. I also figured out on my last hiking trip that I overpronate my feet, so I've been trying to fix that by changing the way I walk, which has thrown off my balance a bit. It's more of an issue when it comes to log crossing streams.

These are the Top 10. Pullups are important but as a vertical pull, they are less so than a horizontal pull.
