I’m so glad to see R.J Macready on this list, not only is he one of the best Horror movie protagonist’s ever written, but his evolution from a helicopter pilot to a smart capable badass against a shapeshifting alien is iconic to say the least. Which is even more impressive considering that this happens in a single movie rather then a series of movies.
Chris being a smart protagonist instead of dumb one is one of many reasons why GET OUT is so great
Always satisfying when the characters make smart choices in the film instead of stupid ones
No one is doper than E. Ripley. Your correct WatchMojo. However you missed a lot of people. Nancy from Nightmare on Elm St, Danny from the Shinning, The chick from Ready Or Not, the chick from Happy Death Day, the last 2 standing in Cabin in the Woods, etc. Make a part 2, please and thank you.

What about Paul Sheldon on Misery? He outsmarted the killer in a genius and amazingly way
@maniaccop3403
2 жыл бұрын
True... I suppose some would consider Misery as more of a thriller But if horror, Sheldon probably deserves top spot. He was incredibly compromised in every single way and still managed to realistically emerge victorious
Great list, but also (the bride) in “ready or not”.
The ending of the thing 1982 is one of the greatest films and endings of all time, with McReady and Childs sitting there at the end just perfection.
No honourable mentions for Crystal in The Hunt, or Grace in Ready or Not, or Tree in Happy Death Day or even Marty from The Cabin in the Woods?
@unicornzNbeez

Marty from cabin in the woods is my favorite .......
Miller from Event Horizon. He makes good decisions, fights the ship at every turn, tries to keep folks together, and still doesn't make it, though his sacrifice saves some of his crew. One of the most terrifying things about that movie is that the good guys mostly make good decisions, and still barely anyone makes it out.
Ellen Riley: “Get away from her, you bitch!” Love that famous line from ‘Aliens.’ 😁
Film actor Kurt Russell did a great job playing the character R.J. Macready in the 1982 remake ‘The Thing’.

I LOVE THAT MOVIE!! I am 62 so when I was younger the original came out I saw it and it scared the shit out of me.
Laurie Strode and Sidney Prescott are my favorite victims/ final girls.
Lawrence is smart but the smartest victim in the Saw franchise is Mark Hoffman, he escaped an unwinnable trap in Saw 6

@@sloanewalker42 best isn't the biggest. John had a code and all is traps were escapable. Considering is targets, he was barely a villain, almost anti-hero. Marvel would call him The Punisher
I would have added Zeke from The Faculty as he singlehandedly saved all his friends and the school from an alien invasion.
3:09. But when the bodies start rising... I'm sensing some kind of pun.
Good list, although I would have added Crystal from “The Hunt” and Max from “The Final Girls.”

@@sloanewalker42 yeah, but he was still in on it the whole time. Its like saying Sidney's boyfriend was one of Ghostface"s victims while Stu was in the suit
As long as they're not walking backwards in a dark room, shouting "Hello?!" in a dark room, splitting up to investigate, never calling the police and assuming the killer is dead with one hit to the head, then they're pretty smart. But it's a low bar.
Sidney Prescott and laurie strode are the best hands down
Lindemann from Freddy v Jason. Who went full combat mode on Jason to save others, although he didn't survived the machete cut. But he didn't realised that until everyone escaped and he collapsed by blood loss...

Sidney Prescott is my final girl. Enough said.
Jordan Peele’s Oscar-winning film ‘Get Out’ will be turning 5 this year.
We can’t wait to see the 6th ‘Scream’ film starting next March.
My favorites in order. 1. Nancy Thompson. A nightmare on elm street. 2. Ellen Ripley. Alien franchise 3. Laurie strode. Halloween franchise 4. Erin. You're next 5. Billy. It 2017
Totally amazing video of horror victims outwit outsmart there horror killers in horror movies franchises watch mojo, fantastic job.
Sigourney Weaver's Ripley, awesome. Kurt Russell's R.J. Macready, also badass.
Ripley in Alien...Kurt Russell in The Thing..Both were exceptional
Here's one classic example, and one based on a book. Anyone else love The Most Dangerous Game? Even for a movie made closer to the dawn of Cinema than even Halloween, it was tense stuff. Granted it made some changes, but I still quite enjoy the 30s cinematic version. When up against a serial killer like Count Zaroff on an island, one best adapt to the wilderness quickly. Bob Rainsford knew this just as much as Zaroff did. He was just as much the hunter as he was the hunted. While his attempt to trap the ruthless hunter failed, he still managed to outsmart him by feigning his death using the hunting dog to take a bullet for him, deeply impressing the villain. The book ended with the implication that he took over Zaroff's estate following the latter's death. The film though confirmed that he survived and escaped. I think classic films should be mentioned more on this channel. Even a film that cost the crew only 200k dollars can really nail its genre.
How about Bret, the boyfriend in Lights Out? Actually, everyone in that movie was smart, even the little boy.

Nah he was the most stupid of the stupidest stupids on this planet
Get Out was one of the first horror movies where the main character fought back, and I love it because of that fact
Me every single time watching horror movies for "ghosts": Psycho killer: hello there.
How can Laurie Strode not be #1 or #2 is beyond me based on the number of movies she's made it through. The only "wrong" thing she did (IMHO) is when she didn't believe Tommy Doyle when he said the boogey man was outside. Laurie said he wasn't and insisted he stop scaring the little girl. I'm like, uh, you've seen him staring at you outside your school, near your clothesline, what else do you need to know?
I really loved ur nex and erin is awesome would lov 2 c a sequeal n mor of her work
I KNEW 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE WOULD BE ON THIS LIST...!!! 🤙🏻

Haven’t seen any of the movies in their entirety, but that line still gives me chills when Hello Zepp plays in the background.
Honestly Rachel Carruthers has always been my fav final girl from the Halloween franchise. Laurie Strode is great but she’s just the archetype final girl in the original Halloween. That’s not a criticism as Halloween is my favorite in the franchise but I always liked the characters in Halloween 4 better.
Sometimes a character dies because either the villain is very smart or the character is just very stupid
I'm sorry, but Ben in BOTLD was not smart. Remember it was he who talked everyone into following his plan to gas up the truck that got Tom and his girlfriend killed. It was also his stupidity that prevented him from listening to Barbara who--long before the number of zombies grew above about 5--wanted to go and and 'Find Johnny'. Had he listened to her he would have found her car and the pair could have gotten out right at the beginning of the film. It was also Ben who talked Tom and Judy as well as Helen and her husband up out of the basement--the very place HE retreated to in the last minutes of the film WHERE HE WAS SAFE. It was Ben who TOLD them the Basement was a DEATH TRAP, just Harry and Tom had thought it was a secure place with just one door to block. Had they all gone down once Ben put the kibosh on Barbara's Idea of going out to "LOOK FOR JOHNNY', they would not have been making the noise they made that attracted all the zombies as the night wore one. So really, not only was Ben the most stupid of all those in NOTLD--and that includes the comatose little girl who spent most of her time stretched out on a table in the basement--but when he got shot in the end I was glad because I saw it as him getting the death penalty for killing Tom and Judy, Barbara, Helen and Harry.
I forgot how much I enjoyed you're next
Hey Rian Johnson, do you really want to give the public the ultimate 🖕🏽? Cast everyone still living on this list in your next Knives Out movie. The brilliance will all come naturally.
Kurt Russell was a amazing in the thing
It's a shame Sarah Connor is not in #2 or at least tie with Ellen Ripley.
Knew the Halloween franchise would be on this list
Nick and Carly from the House of Wax remake were actually pretty smart despite the circumstances of their situation because they were both fighters who could kick ass which is why they were the only survivors of their encounter with the Sinclair siblings
Unlike other horror movie victims, Cary can speak with an English accent 😎
Lotta people are gonna Gordon isn’t smart because he could’ve used his shirt to reach the phone BUT think about how you’d be in that situation. No way you’re thinking straight at that point.
I feel like with the way horror movies are, to make this list you just need to not go into the attic or basement *Comment made before watching the video by a guy who doesn’t watch a ton of horror movies*
we need nancy thompson, grace le domas and danny torrance
I feel like Kyle reese from terminator 1 shouldve been included here (yes, terminator 1 is a horror movie) Even though he died he still had alot of smart ideas like using the pipebombs or hidding so the terminator doesnt find them
What about Dorothy Gale? That water trick was brilliant!

Gotta love these slasher/horror movies.
what about Zoe from the Escape Room franchise?
Should have included Arkin from The Collector and its sequel The Collection
Well I wouldn't count Lawrence here I mean sure he cut off his leg because he thought his family was about to be killed but let's backtrack for while when they first got the saws and ask this: why didn't they just cut the rusted pipes?
There were other ways for Gordon to set himself free other than sawing his whole foot off he could've saw off his heel or try sawing through the rusted pipe that he was attached to.
Number 10 9 6 5 and 1 is my favorite and smart ever
For saw probably could have just sawed off your heel and slip through the cuffs that way instead of taking off the entire foot.

That cop from Saw 2 Eric Matthews thought about using the saw but broke his foot instead and managed to get out of the chains.
Famous film actress Jamie Lee Curtis will play Laurie Strode for one last time in ‘Halloween Ends’, starting this October.
THESE CHARACTERS ARE SMART!
What about "Patricia Tallyman" from the 1990 remake of "Night of the Living Dead"? I think she's great.😁"Patricia Tallman" not Tallyman OOPS!🤪
Yeah... THIS should jave been a top 20. There are a lot of missing smart people.
Not a horror movie but Jodi foster in panic room
How dare you put Sidney Prescott at number 10!
I don't know if this counts either but what about Paxton from hostel the way he use everything around him to survive and escape from hostel and from getting killed and tourted from a bunch of rich dudes he will always be my favorite survivors from a Horror movie
Erin from “You’re Next” should’ve been at No. 1.
What??? Where’s Nancy Thompson ….and Mike Pearson (Phantasm)?
Arrows on a video thumbnail doesn't make it any more interesting 🤑🤑🤑
Why is Dr. Gordon in the thumbnail? He was NEVER a victim...even if you count the first and consider the latter films as a verified retcon. It invalidates him since he was an accomplice. It's like saying Stu and Billy were ALSO 'victims' before called the killers.
Hush should get honorable mention at least!
the giant red arrow is atrocious
Where Andy barcley he been running from chucky for years
finally times where girls don't trip and unable to get up
They can bill me - Ripley
Imagine a slasher films where all of the victims are smart and yet the killer is still able to kill them? To me that would be good to see.
I wanna see how much darker it gets!
Michelle was good, but I don’t really agree with third place. More like 5th or 6th.
Bro where is the dude from hostel he was debatably one of the most smartest people in any horror movie
Sidney Prescott. What a woman!
My no. 1 is Nicholas Cage from Five Nights at Freddy’s adaptation.
THE SOUL SURVIVOR!
Joel in Scream 2
Maddie Young from Hush
