Power Strike II vs R-type for first place? Tough one that, I'd personally go with Power Strike II as I think it is among one of the best 8-bit shooters out there and I tend to prefer vertical to horizontal. But then the Master System port of R type is a bit special with the extra level. I believe that R type on the Master System was ported by Compile, the same developer that made Power Strike! So glad that I still have my old childhood copy of Power Strike II seeing the prices it fetches these days! It’s one of the few games that makes me feel less disappointed in having a PAL console! :D Going to have to get Flight of Pigarus on my machine as that looks great!

Thanks for watching. Very tight between R-Type and Power Strike 2 but the former just edges it for me. Yes Pigarus is nothing short of a miracle considering it's a ROM hack. It has no right to be as good as it is 👌

I've only ever played R-Type (the shame!). Nice vid' mate :) Definitely inspired me to play more games.

Cool list here Ollie... but as an import gamer some of that PAL 50hz music (like Astro Warrior) was kinda hurting my eardrums buddy lol FM Sounded great however! 👏✌️

Great list (wot no Xenon II??? that was my go-to as a kid ... that said I only had about 10 games, but that to me was so much fun / frustrating) .. I have not got all on the list yet, (I have a woeful tale of Powerstrike) but will say I was really taken with Bomber Raid, it was really much better than I expected :)

Hey buddy. And thanks for watching. I'm in Europe so most run at 50Hz. The US versions run faster. I guess that's you the US is better at playing retro games 🤣

Fantasy Zone better than Fantasy Zone II ? 🤔 The first is very good but the 2nd is enhanced in my opinion 🕹️

Does anyone here know what a good price to pay for a master system with 2 controllers, phaser, working 3d glasses in box and 17 games. I have the chance to grab one (only console from that era I'm missing). Just started collecting a couple years ago but don't want to get ripped off.

Hello mate I would be happy to help if I can but with only limited information I can only really give a limited answer. I would imagine a master system with all of those things and the games if it has the box would be worth in excess of £500. Some of the games are quite rare now and can command that price alone although I'm going to assume that the games are fairly common so if the console is not boxed, then somewhere around £200 to £250 would be somewhat of a bargain. If you send me a private message on twitter, then I can probably advise further in more detail @8BitBoyUK 😉

Crap like Transbot and Aerial Assault shouldn't even be mentioned.

Have to say I get a bit of guilty pleasure from Transbot when I only have 10 minutes free. Its easy and quick. I really enjoy both Power Strike games and R-Type

The sms had a very horrid controller, especially the directional button.

Haha. No! I don't believe YOU have played Xenon 2 🤣 To be fair I actually do enjoy it, but the slowdown on the master system is a killer. I believe it's very playable on other platforms. 👍

I hated the sound system on saga it all sounded like sonic the hedgehog.
