My favorite moment was the part in Be Prepared where he goes by the rock and peeks back around, so sassy!

I like how both Mufasa and Scar resemble geniuses. Mufasa is wise while Scar is cunning.

Scar is a genius, calculating, hyper-rational guy. Added that he's also deeply bitter and resentful towards the whole royal family and how they 'betrayed' him (at least thats how he felt - he felt that he deserve better). This enables him to come up with a cold-blooded coup plan. He got it all almost right - his strategy and tactic are brilliant. Unfortunately he lacks control of the operational arena. He should have made sure that Simba is completely dead, that the hyenas 'slit his throat.' That would preempt the exact event that leads to his own demise. All things aside, his ability as a strategic thinker, along with his cold, narcissistic, yet vulnerable and resentful personality, makes him an (almost) unstoppable villain that he's better be killed than to be exiled. One more thing: he is not a wizard/deity with abundant power (like Hades or Maleficient), neither he is an influential public figure or sort in terms of decision-making (like Jafar or Frollo). He is despised by his own society, he is beaten and shameful, yet he is still capable to organize a smooth coup plan while still being seen as innocent by scapegoating Simba. Genius. I wanna have his 'lion's share of intelligence'....

Fun fact: when recording "Be Prepared," Jeremy Irons threw out his voice on the line "You won't get a sniff without me" and couldn't continue recording. So they brought Jim Cummings (Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Ray in "Princess and the Frog") to sing the rest of the song doing an impression Jeremy Irons. If you listen super closely, you can hear certain parts that sound exactly like Tigger.

Cummings is such a talented performer. Even my impression overloard Brian Hull couldn’t best Jim Cummings lol.

Scar was my favorite. Maleficent was my first as a little kid, but Scar later knocked her into 2nd place. Also, another reason why he is the best is that he NEVER told his plans to the protagonists. Everything was on him and the hyenas.

@@slowedscenario1678 Telling him while still a cub would have only backfired. Simba being who he is would want to avenge his father and try to go after Scar. But he was far too small and young to be a threat to his uncle and would have been killed in seconds. He could try and tell the rest of the pride before Scar does but Scar is so cunning and manipulative he would have ben able to convince the pride that the death of Mufasa was all the fault of Simba.

The lovely thing about that scene is that it leaves it up to the viewers interpretation whether the vision actually happens, or if it is Simba's own internal realisation. Nothing that he says is outside of what could just be Simba's internal conscious. And the way both Raffiki and Simba react is consistent with both interpretations.

My sisters are tweens too. The thing is, they're still 5 months old so I can't tell if Nayia says it to Thomais in their secret baby language! So far Me and my dad are the only ones telling that joke. We be like: "wait, I can't hug you, I'm hugging Thoma, the big sister must make sacrifices" or "Feed Nayia first, she's in this world 1 minute more than Thomais so she'll be more hungry" and stuff like that........😅 (I hope my translation from greek to english doesn't have many mistakes)

Scar is still better.. He achieves his goals through cunning and manipulation, whereas Frollo mostly uses intimidation and brute force. Not nearly as impressive.

The person that keeps me up at night is the "friend" of the brother of Black Panthers dad

Scar is a great villain because he has no remorse. Scar is basically a psychopath and doesn't care at all when he destroys the ecosystem and kills his own brother. Due to that fact that he has no remorse, he is willing to do anything to get what he wants. He is also extremely intelligent and hides it fairly well. Scar has almost all of the characteristics of a great villain so he is absolutely my favorite villain of all time.

The thing I love about Scar as a villain is how his jealousy for his brother literally turns into a green eyed monster. After living in his brother's shadow for so long, the only real reason he tries to get the crown is his jealousy for Mufassa. And even after killing Mufassa he still lives in his brother's shadow. When his policies don't go as planned, the pride glorifies Mufassa's reign and practically deify him, while their hatred for Scar only intensified even more, and even his hyenas are questioning his reign. And with no brother to take out his anger on, he decides to make everyone else suffer for it. At that point it's no longer about trying to be a good ruler, he just wants to see them suffer as much as possible even sacrificing the hyenas who he called his friends

“Be Prepared” is LITERALLY my favorite musical number in a Disney movie However, the most terrifying one (for me at least) was “Friends on the Other Side” That sh*t still creeps me out But Scar is my favorite Disney villain

You really should. Lion King is AWESOME. It has amazing music, animation, characters and story, AND it's got one of the best direct-to-video sequels that Disney has ever come up with (which wouldn't normally mean all that much, but unlike most of the other sequels Lion King 2 is legitimately good, especially for a DTV release, and Lion King 1 1/2 isn't bad either)

As a child I was confused about why Simba felt guilty as well.. but if you think about it, seconds before the antilopes stamps, Simba lets out a "roar" (which Scar tells him to practise) .. in Simba's mind he's the reason the antilopes got scared and his father had to die to save him. (↑◇↑) That's what I believe is the reason🌸.

Beyond the roar, he blames himself because he put himself in the situation to begin with. Stampedes happen, but him being in the middle of the stampede means that Mufasa had to risk his own life to save him. He never sees what causes Mufasa to fall down so he believes that Mufasa dies in order to save him. Which is classic survivor's guilt. The worst part is that Scar could have just let the situation play out and Mufasa would have likely died (Mufasa was having trouble getting up the ledge and asks Scar for help) but Mufasa was just so spiteful that he just HAD to seal his fate personally.

Although Scar isn't necessarily my absolute favorite Disney villain (that honor goes to Claude Frollo), I'd still put him in my top five, and I'm glad to see him get the number one spot. However, you forgot to mention the best part about why killing Mufasa was such a deciding factor in Scar being the number one villain (no offense to Robbie Rotten): that Mufasa was his own brother! In most Disney movies, families always get along really well, apart from a few arguments between parents and rebellious children. But the fact that Scar was willing to mercilessly murder his own family member and blame another family member for it makes that scene a million times more disturbing. We've seen villains like Lady Tremaine or Mother Gothel who are evil stepmothers, but Scar takes it to another level because of how he is biologically related to the hero. Which he knows too. At the end, he tries to use blood relation as an excuse for Simba not to kill him. That kind of relationship between the hero and the villain makes the story so much more dramatic and tragic.

Mufasa controls the clouds & rains Simba controls the sun which is the light across the kingdom so its obvious, Scar controls the lightning and fire. Always made since to me lol

Hell yeah, Hunchback rarely gets mentioned along with classics like lion king or beauty and the Beast and idk why because it fits right in there!

Frollo is the best villain because he is the most realistic. And that makes him terrifying.

Alexandra Harrill I’d put Frollo, because of his realism. Yzma, because she’s hilarious. Hades, because he was smooth and smart. Jafar, because he’s ambitious, but Scar is always number 1. He didn’t have a magic background like Hades and Yzma or the influential notice like Jafar or Frollo. Despite being hated by his own pride, he managed to make his dream come true, even if it was just temporary.

I love Facilier. He may not be the meanest, biggest, or most powerful Disney villain, but when it comes to swagger, no one can hold a candle to him. He's so cool and smooth, and you can't help but admire him.

Another thing I love about Scar is that he didn't turn against his allies. He actually kept his promises to the hyenas, or did his best anyway. Also: the musical number

Minister Claude Frollo is the best villain. Hellfire is amazing song. He was willing to raise Quasimodo which shows some of his human side remains, but the name show how innately cruel he is. He dies at the hands of his own creation (the fire, and Quasi). He even feels guilty about how he feels for Esmeralda.

I think the reason the drought started was also to do with the weather. However, as we saw with Mufasa’s ghost, he was able to control the weather to convince simba. So maybe it was Mufasa’s ghost who also heavily impacted it

I took this quiz on what Disney villain I was. I got Scar. My favorite villain of all time. Also, I think Frollo was a good villain.

Okay, Scar is awesome but I personally like Frollo too. The thing is, most of Disney villains know what they are doing is wrong and are proud of it or don't care but Frollo doesn't. You could argue that he prays to Maria in Hellfire because he knows what he's doing is wrong but at least *he* doesn't view himself as bad. And to quote my favourite author, "No bad guy is the villain to their own story".

sorry but if you see the musical of The Lion King, Scar wants Nala as his queen, and then she run away finding Simba.

Taka also means "to want" which fits him perfectly because he spent his whole life wanting something he couldn't have.

Scar is actually older because the older a lion gets the darker his mane is, but Disney is not always 100% accurate

Okay so, I was watching the lion king one night, didn’t get to finish it. The next morning, I woke up, put the rest on..... mufasa just died. Put on the second one (simba’s pride) didn’t get to finish it. The next morning, I woke up, put the rest on, guess what?...... kovu got exiled. BOI

I think Frollo is the best Disney Villain...He killed Quasimodo's mom within minutes of the movie starting... wants to throw a baby to a pond... then raises that baby telling him everyday he is ugly and deform and thats why the world doesn't love him. He did genocide and continue to hunt "Gypsies" as if they were ants. He falls in in love ( in lust) with Esmeralda (while being part of the church) and acuse her of witchcraft. Because he cannot have her, he kills innocents to find her, he tries to burn Esmeralda alive for not choosing him, and almost stabs Quasimodo...Showing literally no remorse in anything he did.Plus... he supports torture... And Hellfire is the best Villain Song... Its so beautifully disturbed and deep and dark... and the prequel of the song Heavens light, makes HellFire even darker and more disturbed.

Scar is definitely my favorite Disney villain. The way he is drawn, his voice actor, his diva-ish behavior, his intelligence/cunning, what he is willing to do to gain power... pretty much everything about Scar is awesome. And Be Prepared is the best villain song ever (maybe the best Disney song ever!)

This Disney villain's actions SCARRED me for life. I'm hilarious.

The ghost of mufasa scene is the greatest Disney movie scene of all time. Possibly the best movie scene of all time period lol

My reaction to Yzma losing: J & Ben put my Yzma loving heart in a box, put that box inside of another box...and then mailed that box to themselves and when it arrived...THEY LET SCAR SMASH IT WITH A HAMMER! :D The tournament was brilliant, brilliant, BRILLIANT, I tell you! Genius, I say! (I'm totally cool with Scar winning though but Yzma will always have my evil little heart :p ).

Im surprised it wasn't mentioned, but Scar is also the best villian because of his pure cruel personality. Think about it, he sets up simbas death the first time so he could WATCH him be destroyed by hyenas in the graveyard, is greatly visually disappointed when his plan fails. He didnt have to watch Simba die, but he wanted to see it. Then later, he ensures Mufasa knows whats about to happen before throwing him to his death, and takes pleasure in how powerless Mufasa is. Afterwards, even though he knows hes going to have his young grieving nephew viciously killed within minutes, he STILL takes the time to make sure Simba feels as much guilt as possible ("if it weren't for YOU, he'd still be alive.."). So even in what he knows to be Simbas final moments alive, he makes zero attempt at even pretending to comfort him. He also then sends 3 large predators after him which would make for a terrifying last moments of death, all the while he smirks as if the entire situation is amusing. He couldn't just kill his family and be king, he took great joy in tormenting them both beforehand. Years later it is shown he not only doesn't care about preserving the longevity of the kingdom ("The herds have moved on") but also doesn't care about the lives of his subjects ("Then you have sentenced us to death! -So be it."). These are family members and friends he has likely grown up with, eaten with, slept beside/with, conversed with, yet their lives mean absolutely nothing to him and he would watch as they slowly starve to death around him. Savage. I can think of no other disney villian that takes cruelty as far as Scar does. He is next level psychopath!

Fun fact: Scar initially wasn't related to Mufasa or Simba and was just a rogue lion. However, one of the writers(I forgot his name) suggested to make Scar into Mufasa's brother. At first, the creators didn't like the idea but after enough persuasion from the writer, they decided to make Scar into Mufasa's brother.

This is so ironic because I’m going to be seeing the Lion King movie tomorrow(and Hamilton!)

Lovely video as always! Although I have to disagree. I think Judge Claude Frollo is the best villain. He's the most real and complex, like a corrupt leader you'd see in real life. And I LOVE that his villain song is about the agony a villain feels to be who they are, unlike other Disney villains who sing about how fun it is to be evil and how excited they are about their nefarious plans. He's the only villain who feels pained by his own villainy rather than relishes it. Anyway, awesome video!

i always thought the reason simba thought it was his fault is that he thought that his roar startled the water buffalo thus causing the stampede thus having to be saved by his father. if you remember it was after his little roar that echoed across the canyon that the stampede was started by the hyenas.

I think the best part about Scar was his resentment that his brother is king because Scar isn't physically strong enough to challenge him. Scar rightfully believes it should be the smartest who rules, not the strongest. Scar won all his battles with sheer wit and clever tactics, and in the end he lost when Simba grew up strong enough to out-muscle him.

Yeah but that isn't everything lionesses tend to go for the biggest strongest and most masculine male and the one with the biggest mane and scar is sort of on the small side and his physical strength isn't one of his talents

Going Off Of Why Scar Would Need Hyena's, Lionesses if denied food by the male, will rise up and fight him if needed, they wouldn't get pushed around so the hyenas were probably to keep them in line

I'm pretty sure Scar iconic status is due to the fact that he raised the bar considerably and paved way for a new class of male antagonists to come. Before, most of their male villains were either campy or big doofs but Scar was elegant, Machiavellian and very strategic. Frollo, Hans, Dr. Facilier, Hades, Clayton, etc. might not exist if Scar hadn't set this new standard. His impact on Disney history and audiences is undeniable!

First cub being born: we shall name him Mufasa such a powerful name. Second cub: well name him Taka means waste

Number Zero: The best voice acting for an animated Disney character of all time. Also, the line I use the most in real life that comes from a movie is a Scar quote: "Excuse me for not jumping for joy; bad back, you know."

My favorite villain from Disney was Frollo. The fact that he had a twisted motivation and his own morals, how he thought what he was doing was just was neat and different. He battled with his lust and his Christianity, and felt scared to be judged when he killed Quasimodo’s mother. He was dark and undoubtedly evil, blaming everyone but himself in hellfire, and showing some of the darkest sins humanity holds. He felt like a real villain.
