Hard Candy wasn't that good. A lot of stuff wasn't realistic at all. For example a little girl is about to torture an adult man and he is not even trying to escape? He's just laying there like 'sure, go ahead'. That's just one example but there were more unrealistic scenes and some bad acting. I wanted to like it, though, but no...

Momento is still one of my favorite movies ever. The acting is flawless. Everything is great. Same with the Silence of the Lambs.

I don’t know why but the butterfly effect is always overlooked as an amazing psychological thriller. Sure it has supernatural themes; but I think it adds to the overall macabre atmosphere of that film

Man, Shutter Island is one of those movies where I think about it few weeks after watching. No matter what I'm doing, it keeps on running on my mind.

Psychological horrors like Misery, The Shining etc are my absolute favorite. I generally get bored easily but those kind of movies keep me really entertained, every single moment keeps me wondering what’s gonna happen next.

What Lies Beneath, and The Others... both worthy additions imo

I don't know if this would fit into this category, but, the movie "Perfume" also really got to me. Set in medieval France, it's a period piece as well as a psychological thriller/horror flick. The music is exquisite.

so i watched donnie darko a while ago and i STILL haven't understood it. i read an explanation too, but it's the same. can anyone help me with this? :)

Nice to see Vertigo coming in at No.1. I saw the movie years ago and always felt there was something there but couldn't quite get a handle on it. I did some research and read a few books, including Paul Hyder's insightful 'Hitchcock's Vertigo', and all the pieces of the puzzle came together. I knew that I'd aced the movie when my Film Studies professor at university gave me an 'A'. I was well chuffed.

The “Lust” scene from Se7en is a total mind fuck on its own.

Anthony Hopkins was absolutely phenomenal as Hannibal Lecter. Never get tired of that film.

American Psycho and Silence of the Lambs are two of my all time favorite films. Also, why in the fuck is The Shining not on this list?

Requiem For A Dream was psychologically terrifying. Some of these on the list were more so crime/drama movies rather than psychological thrillers.

The Game with Michael Douglas. Must see for all thriller enthusiasts. Such a unique, awesome plot, no other movie has ever had a plot like it. And not totally dark and twisted.
