What does your pre-ride checklist look like? What things are you making sure you check before you swing a leg over the bike. While some of these things will seem really basic to some, I'm including them because I've seen time and time when these things get overlooked. I've been guilty of most of these things as well.

If your fork is feeling harsh, weight the fork for a negative air pressure to help reduce the harshness. Back in the 90s, rockshox had a fork called the sid, pressure on one side, the other side was negative pressure to reduce stiction and make the fork more small bump compliant. Same idea.

I've seen the tire pressure, lost bolts, and fuel issues many times out on the trail. Just had a buddy lose a seat bolt yesterday. It amazes me that people don't check these things.

Shifter bolts on KTMs, sprocket bolts on Yamahas, exhaust bolts on all bikes, are common items that loosen over 25 hrs or so. I locktite what I can, and mark everything I touch. Takes 10 seconds to glance over the bike pre ride, and if I need to loosen a bolt or axle during the ride, I can return it to tight with confidence without a torque wrench, using those witness marks.

Personally, I would check all these things at home in the garage BEFORE I leave for the trail. I find it much easier to do this in my shop where I have all my tools and fluids. Also, if i find a serious "deal breaker" for the ride ahead, I haven't wasted my time driving to the trail.

@@DirtBikeChannel it’s probably OTT but as many as possible that are once in a while service/ check items - axel, suspension linkages, fork clamp bolts, calliper, engine frame bolts etc. I don’t worry about engine case bolts - never had one work loose. Seat, fairings/plastics, bash plates would be my only bolt check before I load the bike. Many will disagree but putting a torque wrench over your bike is a really good idea.

The Honda is a nice change from previous 2 strokes that you have had. Consider the new Rieju lineup next. They make a six day and pro model. Would also be interested having a video comparing your experience with both engine types. Example; more vibration on 2t than 4t and is a counterbalanced 2 stroke as smooth as the Honda? Vibration loosens bolts. Thanks

I ride atvs sleds n dirtbikes. Yes absolutely pre-trip your atv or sxs. Tires regularly leak on atvs, Check oil n coolant levels every ride. Most atvs now have paper airfilter elements, swap them out for a foam oiled type made by UNI... absolutely a must. Clean this often and re oil it to keep the engine free of dirt n dust. Deferential oils should be checked often, front diffs on polaris say change the oil every 25 hours. Spare drive belt, super important for polaris and can am. Most important tip, buy a YAMAHA OR SUZUKI. rest are nowhere near as reliable. That's free advice.

Nobody wants to be that guy with the broken bike needing repairs on the trail, that guy normally doesn't get invited out again. Blue loctight ALL bolts . Brand new bikes need a full tear down to do this, also most don't come with any grease in the steering or swingarm pivots n linkage. The shock also has small bearing that need greasing. Good things to know that I've learned over the last 42 years riding dirtbikes. Good list Kyle.... right on. ✅️
