A few great ones you forgot. Major Harris's broken run vs Penn State when he ran the wrong way, but eluded the entire PSU defense anyway. Also, Quincy Wilson's catch and run vs Miami where he destroyed the safety on the way to the endzone.

It sure would have been great to have seen Bill McKenzie's 38 yard field goal to beat Pitt in 1975 in Morgantown with 4 seconds left on the game clock in the 4th quarter with the great Jack Fleming calling the game as your number 1 top 10 play in WVU football history.

Not gonna harp too much, but one play that stands out is "Suggs is stopped short" when we stuff him in Blacksburg, and/or the int to seal it. The brady fake punt was up there too, but I'll give some credit too; it was good to see the older stuff up there too. Most videos only include 2005 and beyond.

If you are looking at the BEST plays in school history, you have to look back a long way. McKenzie's FG v Pitt in '75. Willie Drewry's punt return to beat Pitt. Hostettler's run v. OK, Major's run v. PSU, Ed Hill's catch to beat BC in '93, Zereoue's first ever touch taken 74yds v. Pitt, Grant Wiley's goalline stand v. VT, Quincy running over Merriweather, the L'Ville onsside kick in 2005, or Pat White's crushing block against UCONN, Bittencurt's winning FG v Pitt etc, etc. Good effort though

Good video. However, there are several plays on here that were left out IMO. The greatest WVU play of all time 'The Play' by Major Harris. And what about Quincy Wilson's run against Miami (even though they lost), or the 99-yard TD from Rasheed Marshall to Terrence Garvin against VT in '03? Again good vid and a fun watch, good work. But I would have substituted these for a few.

Wow. I love watching these plays. There are a couple notable omissions, particularly Major Harris against Penn State, i.e., "The Play." Also, I was surprised to not see either of Steve Slaton's 52 yard TD runs against Georgia in the Sugar Bowl, as those were both amazing and immensely helpful in boosting WVU's national profile for the next several seasons. Both of those two plays were program defining moments, in my opinion. Also, surprised that there was nothing from Tavon Austin, particularly his 75 yard rushing TD in his record-setting night against Oklahoma. He set a Big 12 record 572 all purpose yards and a WVU record 344 rushing yards that game.

Major Harris should be on here, as should some other plays mentioned, but this is still fun to watch. My favorite was Darwin Cook's 99-yard fumble return in the Orange Bowl. Clemson players were celebrating TD thinking the ball broke the plane but it didn't then suddenly there's Cook taking off the other way, ran all the way into the Orange mascot (lol!) and totally turned that game into WVU dominance!

This is a nice compilation, thanks for putting it together! Here are my top 10 favorite plays in chronological order, since I began watching WVU football back in 1987 as a 10 year-old boy. 1) Major Harris TD run vs. Penn State, 1988 - pure magic. A man truly ahead of his time 2) Robert Walker TD run vs. Miami, 1993 - the thrill of finally putting one over the 'Canes on our way to 11-0. 3) Quincy Wilson "The Run" vs. Miami, 2003 - even though we lost this game, it showed true Mountaineer Spirit in that we never give up! 4) Pat White's 2nd TD run vs. South Florida, 2005 - one of the most amazing touchdown runs that nobody ever saw, he took on the entire USF D and smoked 'em. 5) Phil Brady fake punt to seal 2006 Sugar Bowl win vs. Georgia - gotta give RichRod credit for dialing up this gutsy call. What a way to win a BCS game for first time. 6) The "sleeper" TD pass vs. Georgia Tech in 2006 Gator Bowl - I crack up every time I watch this play. This was the turning point in our comeback to win that game. 7) Noel Devine's first touch against Maryland, 2007 - the "jump cut" that announced a new sensational talent on the college football scene. 8) Owen Schmitt "runaway beer truck" TD vs. Oklahoma, 2008 Fiesta Bowl - iconic. 'Nuff said. 9) Darwin Cook fumble return TD vs. Clemson, 2012 Orange Bowl - best part was him bowling over the OB mascot in the end zone. 10) Tavon Austin vs. Oklahoma, 2012 - not even sure which of his runs I can pick b/c they're all so incredibly slick, but probably the best overall single game performance ever by any WVU player.

Fun list, some really important plays in the program's history. But I agree there's a lot of plays left out which I feel are way more important. The triple OT game against Rutgers to seal the BE title, the marathon comeback against Louisville, the VT finish previously mentioned, Pat White's 3rd down scramble or the fake punt against UGA, the TD pass from Kelchner to Ed Hill to beat BC in '93, Major's broken play scramble against Penn State, Stedman Bailey's catch to set up the game winning field goal at USF to clinch the final BE title, the FG to beat Pitt in '75 (?), THE run, & I'm sure I'm forgetting some. But you put moo u in there. At least they never won, & that's their lasting memory. Hey, now I like it!

KU has a lot of new faces. Brought in 26 new recruits & 19 of them JUCO transfers. Charlie Weiss trying to jump start the program from a terrible 2 year recruiting period under Turner Gill. Several players had to sit out last year due to div.1 transfer rules as well. They'll be able to play this year. Among them will be starting QB Jake Heaps (BYU) & his likely # 1 receiver Justin McKay (OU).

With 1:26 remaining in the game and facing a 4th-and-6 near midfield, West Virginia's Phil Brady ran for 10 yards on a fake punt to seal the win! That fake punt "hammer" was awesome. Nehlen could never put it all togeather with a great offense to compliment his great defenses and that was sad

Add Gary Jennings catch and 2pt conversion vs Texas at 3 or 4 even though it doesn't matter as much now as it did at the time

Actually there was no comeback by WVU in the Backyard Brawl game. Pitt had been down and came back.

No problem with any of the picks, all were great plays, however......Danny Buggs 75 yd punt return for a TD , with 10 seconds(?) remaining against Maryland in '73, for the game winner has got to be included. Buggs' return & Zack A's td .vs Pitt would be my top 2 with any number of plays selected for the remaining 8 slots. Many, many great plays in WVU history.

3 plays that have to be in the Top 10: Major Harris' scramble vs Penn St. Quincy Wilson's screen pass vs Miami, and what about Rasheed Marshall to Travis Garvin for 92 yards against #3 Virginia Tech?

Major Harris, Quincy Wilson, Pitt in '75, Robert Walker 90 yard TD against Syracuse, 2002 VT stop (and pick), you're missing a lot. Try again.

Nothing against this list, but without Major Harris having at least 2 (the run vs Penn state and the entire 2nd half in Louisville) its pretty much the top 10 "WVU plays I can remember seeing"... (I grew up in Louisville and was at that game. The only blue and gold in a sea of red and the UL fans were giving me a ton of grief the first half. When they all began leaving in the 4th quarter, don't think I was shy. "We're yall going?! One dude sitting behind me kept telling me through the first half that I'd came a long way to see an ass whooping... not knowing I lived less than 20 miles from cardinal stadium, when he was packing up I kept asking him why you leaving? Don't you wanna see the rest of this ass whooping? Stick around and watch major win the Heisman... he didn't, but damn what a show he put in that 2nd half!!)

What about the winning touchdown pass against Boston College which saved the undefeated season in 1993? And why not Pat Randolph's run against Penn State in 1984? And what about Major Harris's touchdown against Penn State in 1988? How can you compile a top-ten list of WVU football plays and not include Major Harris?
