"Shadowland" is such a soulful and beautifully haunting song that I really wish was in the original _Lion King_ movie. I would've loved Nala to have her own number, and it definitely would've been the next best thing to a "Be Prepared Reprise".

I would have fixed the remake a bit by adding the version of "Be Prepared Reprise" that was supposed to introduce the hyenas to the lionesses, have Beyoncé sing "Shadowland" when Nala leaves to find help, Childish Gambino sing "Endless Night", and swap "Spirit" and the end credit version of "He Lives In You" with each other

Maybe Skid Row, but I think this list is highlighting the songs that aren't the main songs of the show (not just underappreciated show). I'd argue that "Suddenly Seymour" and "Somewhere That's Green" are Little Shop's most notable songs. I'd put "Don't Feed the Plants" as not as many know that one, but it's stellar.

Wholeheartedly agree on We Both Reached for The Gun! When my class and I watched Chicago for an assignment and while everybody gushed on And All That Jazz, Roxie, Double Act, and even the Hot Honey Rag sequence, I hummed to We Both Reached for the Gun just because it was so clever both as a musical piece and it's narrative purpose! The allegories it had were so cleverly tucked into such a catchy beat. (And it's the only song I can sing that'll sound decent even as someone not good with vocals!)

What a great list! All solid choices. I'm so glad to find "Do You Love Me?" here! (Also, thanks for pointing out my biggest beef with the film "The Lion King": Nala's underwritten role. It's good to know the stage version gives her more substance. Why is it the stage adaptations of Disney's musicals slap so hard while the live-action cinema remakes of those same films almost invariably suck?) A few other songs I feel deserve more love: "That Would Be Enough" (Hamilton) "We Kiss in a Shadow" (The King and I) "Everything I Know" (In the Heights -- I'm VERY salty that this song was cut from the film version) "There But for You Go I" (Brigadoon) ""Drink With Me" (Les Miserables) "All I've Ever Known" (Hadestown) Yes, I like ballads. Hard to guess, right?

Yes! Someone who also finds “Be a Lion” to be one of The Wiz’s underrated songs. Such an emotional musical number and moment with Dorothy comforting the Lion and helping him find courage even if he thinks he lacks some which leads to a great duet at the end. It’s nice seeing the Lion actually finding courage for a moment without him realizing it. I hate that 2 videos of high school productions of the musical that I’ve seen cut it. It is such an ESSENTIAL and POIGNANT number in the musical and further develops the Lion’s character as well as Dorothy’s as a mother figure. If there was a song they wanted to cut to save time, then they should’ve gone with “Who Do You Think Are?”, as that song, unlike the others, doesn’t really further the plot or give character establishment/motivation and could easily be cut and replaced with regular dialogue without effecting the plot and wouldn’t even be missed considering I find that song to be the weakest in an otherwise great song list.

This was a good try, but you need to go back further than the 1980's for some truly excellent shows, as well as some memorable, if underappreciated, songs. With that in mind, let me suggest two that should have been included in this listing from more bygone days. The first definitely under appreciated song is 'Carefully Taught' from South Pacific. It was pertinent and pointed in 1949, and it is just as gripping today. The lyric has lost none of its bite or its truth, and it deserves to be on this list. My hands-down nominee for the number one spot is another R&H classic: 'Love, Look Away,' from Flower Drum Song. True, the show has not aged very well, but the 2002 revival, with a rewritten book, did a masterful job with the music. If any song from any show has been overlooked and underappreciated, 'Love Look Away' is at the top of the list. It is poignant and powerful and still gives me chills. When Lea Salonga sang it in the revival, she knocked it out of the park. You simply have to hear it, it is just that good.

Not a bad list But Almost anything from Miss Saigon seems to get ignored by most everyone, especially MsMojo. But The American Dream would be my recommendation for this list.

I know that there are so many good shows on Broadway and different things. But unfortunately I haven't been able to hit any of them. This is mainly due to the fact that I live really far away from broadway kind of stuff

Your take on AC Odyssey is so real but I do think it's a really good game, for people who like that experience. Some things I've developed after playing it. You have to play as Kassandra. Alexios's voice acting sucks and Kassandra's is so well done. She also fits into the world better because she is meant to be the protagonist. Some of the levelling system is trash, spongey enemies are annoying and levelling can be annoying. However, because of the system, level caps aren't the final say, if you poured all your points into assassination, then you can do a level 10 mission at level 7. The third and final until I think of another one, because of AC settings, AC Odyssey isn't for everyone, but if you're a nerd about Ancient Greece the game is for you. Anyway, I loved the video Bizly! Just giving some stuff in case someone's on the fence about playing Odyssey

On the last one,? I didn’t think that “Empty Chairs At Empty Tables” was quite “neglected”?? I always considered it Marius’ signature solo - same as On My Own and I Dreamed a Dream for those characters- which captures survivor’s remorse better than practically any other piece of music. I like most of the choices here (though there are others, of course), but anyone else here disagree that it’s neglected??

"Do you love me" is not about the longevity of love. It's about a couple that were forced to marry who suddenly realize after 25 years they actually have found love with each other.

@@cmtippens9209 Disagree. Not for these characters. They didn't even know each other. As they sing "The first time I met you was on our wedding day". Now they have love, then they had nothing.

this was so hard to follow; normally we like to talk about your picks but ‘underappreciated’ was so undefined

I don't think anything in Hamilton should be considered "Underappreciated". It's one of the most celebrated shows ever.
