    +Tony Hardman Yea they are incredibly intelligent animals. When I was younger on the street I lived on crows seemed to have some sort of meeting meeting every single day at 4:00 P.M. There were birds covering the entire street. It was the weirdest thing. I've seen them on a different street in my town in recent years doing that. I guess they decided to change location.

    Luculencia I guess they like that time. It's funny too considering how they are sometimes associated with death, and how in Japanese culture the number four is associated with it due to apparently simply being similar to their word for death, so four in Japan has a lot of superstitions connected to it, like we have for the number 13 in the West. Just a random fact to make it weirder. lol. I actually think it's really cool when animals meet up like that. I'm sure they have a lot of important things to discuss. More species should do that.

    What a difference three years make. Yes, crows in general are intelligent, but in 2018 scientists discovered that New Caledonian crows don't just USE tools, they can CRAFT tools by combining two or more otherwise non-functional elements. As it stands today, this ability has only been observed in humans, great apes, and the New Caledonian crow.

    Just figured I'd add to this, it's not just the New Caledonian crow, many of the Corvidae family will craft and use tools, and they have the functioning ability in using the tools they create at a problem solving level above almost all other creatures. And to boot, they're actually better at remembering words and sounds than parrots, and can do regional accents and dialects. They're a criminally underated animal when it comes to intelligence, but a lot of it comes down to superstition during the Christianisation of Europe and Crows / Ravens being worshipped by Pagans.

    I used to have several pet rats. They are very smart. They could recognize their names and would come when called. I only kept them in their cages when I was at work. Otherwise, they had free run of the place. One particular rat named Ozzy would sit on the dining room chair and watch me cook every day. He knew that some of what I was making was for their dinner. Usually just fruit and vegetables, fish, sometimes a baked sweet potato with little marshmallows. They loved that. It's sad that their lives are so short.

    Did you guys know that an octopus will use its tentacles to measure to width of a whole to see if it can squeeze through? The only thing the octopus cannot compress is the cartilage between its eyes, like the cartilage in our noses. It also figured that it could not take a crab out of a bottle, so it squeezed inside and ate the crab, digested it, and then left the bottle. Such a fascinating creature.

    You missed the greatest part about the mask and the crows. The crows actually doesnt seen this particular mask before. The man scared the mother of these crows. The experiment showed that crows can actually give information (like talking) to their kind about one certain human face. They dont have to see it. The crows showed the same scared reaction to the face like their mother. Plus the mother wasnt around at the time of the second experiment. That is a very detailed information for an animal. Incredible huge in my opinion. PS: In Berlin (and elsewhere too for sure) are crows who learned about the traffic lights. They wait for red for cars and fly to the waiting cars in front of the traffic light. The crow put a nut under the wheel and will fly on a higher position. It waits for green, cars driving, nut is open. But it is actually clever enough and wait again for red, even if no car is around. Only if it is save and the traffic light shows red, the crow comes back and claim their reward. PPS: Border Collies are pretty smart for dogs, but dogs in general are not very clever if you compare them with wild animals. wolves are in average as smart as the smartest dogs. so humans breed the intelligence out of them... But this is not a surprise, animals in the wild have to use their brain to survive, pets have to use their brain to get more fat. ;)

    Men see often technology as an end in itself; but even when it is a means we can doubt its efficiency in achieving the meaningful. For example let's say: "The only thing that counts is how we treat each other." But if greed is okay, if more control and power is okay, if grudge and revenge is okay, then technology, our type of intelligence is a success. Look at one major aspect of technology: language. Most of the time we use it for power or to establish that we are special.

    Crow should've been "corvid" to include the equally clever ravens and magpies. We used to have a lot of trouble with ravens getting into the trash when I was a kid. Even when the trash can was latched shut, they'd work together to pry the latch open and then knock the can over to get at the goodies they'd learned would be inside.

    Voted? You needed opinions for this other than those of scientists? So that's why the magpie wasn't even honourably mentioned... They have self-awareness too. (They recognise themselves in a mirror, like elephants, dolphins and chimpanzees.)

    ***** To be honest, I cancelled my subscription when my email was just getting flooded with "Top 10 (insert decade) (insert adjective) bands/songs/shit-I-don't-care-about". Now I just get irritated every time I see WM in the related, but sometimes I can't help clicking. I don't know why I get irritated. And I'd rather not shit on them, especially here, in their own comment section. They haven't wronged me in any way, so I feel like the reply I'm making right now is very disrespectful to them. Sorry, WatchMojo.com , it's nothing personal.

  • @glibbergloop

    I just don't like their vids. Low quality research, annoying voices, too long.. etc So yeah I tend to agree with you that while they didn't do anything inherently bad, I get this irrational fury whenever I accidentally click their stuff

  • @BradenBest

    @BradenBest

    8 жыл бұрын

    ***** Umm, don't you look at the title, timestamp and uploader info before clicking? That's what I do, cause there are some channels that I outright refuse to give views (buzzfeed, for example), and other channels that I don't want associated with my suggestions, but am still curious to see, so I watch incognito. I feel really bad for what I'm about to suggest, but, if you really hate WM so much, what you can do is click on the video, pause immediately, dislike and leave. I hate to advocate doing something like this, but it's the only way I know of to make youtube stop suggesting videos from a given channel. As for your criticisms of WM's content, I don't see how their research is "low quality" when most of their lists are generated from opinion polls on their site, IMO their voices are fine and don't irritate me, and the video length is average at between 5 and 10 minutes, so I don't take issue with any of that. What I got sick of was the _subject matter_. A lot of the lists are really, well, _boring_. And at that, I can't really say why. I'd have to look at a list of their uploads to give examples.

  • @glibbergloop

    @glibbergloop

    Your response was very good. I usually do avoid clicking but once in a while I slip up. And I also usually pause and leave immediately (usually with a dislike, but I rarely hit the dislike anyway). And yes, you worded it well... the video subject matter is so boring... that's kind of what I meant by low quality. They just seem to need to churn out videos without putting a whole lot of thought into making it interesting for bigger audiences. My kids like WM, and I let them surf KZread on my account sometimes... that's probably why it keeps showing up in my thumbnails. Thanks for being calm, I was ranting and needed a good person to point it out. :)

    Don't Forget Cats! They are quite intelligent creatures for 5 reasons 1: They are cute and cuddly. 2: They are less expensive than dogs. 3: They are the only domestic animal that can purr. 4. They appear in movies adorably. 5 They will love you forever!

    John Cohagen I don't know what those reasons have to cats intelligence, but 1. You're right nr 2. I don't know if they are less expensive than dogs that depends on what dog race you have. 3. Ok 4. Don't watch movies. 5. They don't love you, they love food that you've giving them.
