Being a collector of GA I think you will enjoying watching the You Tube shows : Golden Guys on Tuesday nights at 7 and Vintage Voyage on Sundays nights at 6. Your interest fits well with theirs. The introduction of Archie succeeded because the service men overseas during WW2 were glad to see reminders of home depicted in Archie's stories. Being an addictive comic strip fan , especially the late 40s to the 1970s with some 80s strips included , I enjoy reading the comic strip versions of Superman and Batman, I've yet to find the short lived (1944-1945) Wonder Woman strip when I'm reading digital newspaper archive comic sections , eventually I'll just buy the hard back collection . For fans of Captain Marvel the 1950 film The Good Humor Man starring Jack Carson is loaded with Captain Marvel references , tv's Superman George Reeves is also in the cast as is Richard Egan , who p!ays a police officer. Richard Egan was going to play The Sub Mariner on a tv series that was being planned. Another film in the 1950s that dealt with comic books as well as the witch hunts was Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis in Artists and Models , Martin is an artist and Jerry is a writer and a big fan of the controversial sci-fi horror comic book heroine The Bat Lady. The scenes with the comic book publisher are great! Dean Martin in real life was a major Batman fan and comic book reader.

Very cool. I grew up watching movies from the 1940s and 50s because where we lived we couldn't get cable. The two channels we had always aired black and white movies from that era. So I developed a real appreciation for the stories from that time. I'll try to check out the movies you mentioned and the youtube channels.

I think the highest superman 1 is a cgc 5.5 blue label , crazy how there is no high grade unrestored for that beautiful book

Yeah, I imagine if anyone ever finds something of a higher grade it would go for many millions of dollars.

@@benji3455 Yeah, there were many copies of it printed originally. I imagine hidden in some basement or attic a treasure trove of earlier golden age comics. I always think of the Mile High Comics story.

Yeah it is a really tough book to find as well
