I don't believe it was a matter of "tricking" the defendant whatsoever.. more so getting the defendant to acknowledge what sentence is appropriate for such acts in the first place.. The defendant, being so smug and confident that he had beaten the case, answered honestly (for once).. and the judge merely used what the defendant had said to bolster the sentence which had already been decided upon.

It's a high bar of character to recognize an action that was probably out of line and reset the whole process just so they get a fair trial. I’ve never understood how people are just stuck on death row. It cannot possibly take years to throw a man in a chair and put a needle in them.

Usually death penalty is given after a amount of time they must spend in prison. Unfortunately to my knowledge most death penalties arent given before they die of suicide or natural causes to what i assume to be fear of it being innocent person as they often reopen cases to check but honestly i agree, and would go further to say death penalty should be given to child murderers, paedophiles and rapists or people who have committed gbh in succession

Its messed up to know these people commit their crimes, and they know they did it, and then they freak out when they're understandably sentenced for life. Like, those women abused a child until she died, and were shocked to get life. They should know they deserved worse.
