Top 10 | Most Beautiful and Famous Diamonds in the World

The Golconda Diamonds are Indian diamonds mined in a specific geographic area in the present-day Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states of South India. During the rule of the historic Qutb Shahi dynasty (16th century-17th century CE), also known as the "Golconda Sultanate", diamonds from these mines (especially Kollur Mine) were transported to the city of Hyderabad to be cut, polished, evaluated and sold. Golconda in Hyderabad established itself as a diamond trading center and, until the end of the 19th century, the Golconda market was the primary source of the finest and largest diamonds in the world. Thus, the legendary name 'Golconda Diamond' became synonymous with Golconda itself. The Golconda region has produced some of the world's most famous diamonds, including the colorless Koh-i-Noor (now owned by the United Kingdom), the blue Hope (United States), the pink Daria-i-Noor (Iran), the white Regent (France), the Dresden Green (Germany), and the colorless Orlov (Russia), Nizam and Jacob (India), as well as the now lost diamonds Florentine Yellow, Akbar Shah and Great Mogul.
One of the most popular diamond mines was Kollur Mine (presently in Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh). There were also other mines around the River Krishna in South India. Along with diamonds, the region also became a trade center for metalware, pearls, spices, and textiles. According to The New Indian Express (22 October 2016), "the Hyderabad based historian, Muhammad Safiullah says such was the trade that the estimated output from all mines in Golconda was estimated to be around 12 million carats".

Wow, another diamond video! This video showed diamonds, not before mentioned in other videos. I thoroughly enjoyed the history and commend you on your knowledge of gemstones. The voice used in this video was pleasant and, if I didn’t know better, might have thought it was your own. Excellent work!

India has been called the golden bird by historians, and it has been looted and ruined for centuries. Best example Koh-i-Noor. The report also said that the diamond was 'taken away by the British' when Duleep Singh was just 10 Years old in 1849.

I'm a little confused. The crown in the video at 11:33 is coronation crown of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother which contains the Koh-i-noor diamond. This is not the stone being talked about at that point in the video.

Ok, unfortunately, I have to revisit the narration issue again. While the computerized voice takes care of some of the pronunciation issues I mentioned earlier when you were still using your own voice, it has a somewhat tinny and robotic quality. More importantly, it has to do with authenticity. If the narrator’s voice is not your own voice, it casts a shadow of doubt over the rest of the video. Secondly, you really should pay attention to the correct pronunciation and spelling of foreign words. This type of error has a negative impact on the professionalism and quality control of the video. For example, Koh i Noor is pronounced “ˌkōēˈno͝or”, the “i” is not pronounced like the word “eye”. Maria Theresa is the correct spelling, not Maria Therisa. Thanks.

Sorry these Diamonds were all obtained forcefully without paying and now worth millions . The present owners are in possession of stolen property of India . Such beautiful diamonds tons of Emeralds rubies saffires were looted from India in the last 2 millenia . The real history is very very different . Just for your knowledge .

@@AndrewPidor In another segment, I had chastised you about the plunder and pillaging done by the British Empire not mentioned. I proceeded to lecture you as to the nitty gritty of the aquisition of these jewels eventuating as the Crown jewels. Little knowing that you have done lots of interesting historical work. I found this segment on Golconda existed well before my commentary in the the other segment you have on the crowns. Thus my comment above. Very nice and interesting work on Golconda. Thank you.

Andrew, this voice is better in this one than the "Pearls" narrator. . . but your narrators must learn to pronounce French names (it's "Loo-wee", NOT "Loo-wis, etc.) and even simple names like "Lahore" properly. Your narrators also need to take a breath. They go so fast without stopping. It is quite irksome to hear the non-English PROPER names NOT pronounced properly -- the way they should be in their language of origin.
