As a public figure, Elizabeth Taylor was an unmatched humanitarian. If she was your friend, she was for life. Her calling then President Ronald Regan, following the death of her close friend Rock Hudson, of complications due to AIDS is a unforgettable day. She demanded his administration to take responsibility and increase AIDS research-which, at the time was nil next to none. She confounded AMFAR, and The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation and single-handedly changed the course of the medical field. May she rest in glorious peace and be forever remembered!

Agreed. The only other famous figure who can match Elizabeth Taylor's humanitarian and charity efforts, and of course, outshine even the most rare gems is Lady Diana Spencer. Both ladies left lasting legacies to the world.

@@kellysunserenity4068 Diana took on what Princess Margaret and others in the Royal Family had been doing for years. You may not not have known about it, but the big bucks was brought in by Margaret, quietly, without fanfare, and without drawing all the attention to herself. But you want to feel strong feelings, to feel a sort of hero worship toward Diana because she was _that_ good at manipulating the feelings of the emotionally driven.

Andy, hope you are still doing well. I can very much relate to your surname too. Elizabeth Taylor was the greatest ambassador for HIV/AIDS and I admire her so much for what she accomplished. I only wish someone else had stepped into her shoes after she passed away as many do not give this cause a second thought anymore, neither do they discuss it's ongoing devastation. As much as I'm grateful for what Ms. Taylor did, I was disappointed that she never took up the cause of Chronic Pain, a condition which she suffered since 14yrs of age when she fell from a horse whilst filming National Velvet and injured her back. In the movie Cleopatra, when she is filmed being rolled out of a rug, she soothes her back as she really was in terrible pain. I have been racked by severe chronic spinal pain for 34yrs now and yet no-one of notoriety has ever stepped up to assist our fight. We all have our crosses to bear but have always regretted that no-one has ever shone a spotlight on Chronic Pain. I sincerely hope that you are doing the best you can, especially during this pandemic. Kris.🇦🇺🥰

Love the video! Although, I would have included La Peregrina Pearl in this list--not only is the history and number of iconic crowned owners impressive but the Taylor Burtons also donated an original portrait of Mary I of England wearing the pearl to the National Gallery when it did not have such a picture, something that benefits the English people forever. One of many good works by Liz and Dick. La Peregrina went for 11 million in the 2011 sale and rightly so! AMAZING PIECE, AMAZING LIZ! RIP ET!

I always love the pictures and film clips you choose, Andrew - they are in a very high quality always !! Elizabeth Taylor was an iconic woman - remarkable beautiful and talented - and her jewellery represented her perfectly. She had been one of the last real divas on earth.🌹🍃 I love the ruby set most. 💖 Thank you for this great video !!

Betty Sue King - The Pearl Goddess Elizabeth Taylor was an incredible human being, compassionate, talented, beautiful through and through, bigger than life in every way imaginable. Thank you for capturing her enduring spirit with the provenance of her pierless jewels. I would have loved the inclusion of La Peregrina with its remarkable journey from discovery to acquisition by Richard Burton. Beautifully presented. Thank you.

Update: the earrings and the bracelet came from the cartier ruby suite was resold a few years ago in Christie's. It was sadly sold more than half of its original price in 2011.

She has got to be the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. Beautiful jewelry for a beautiful lady. When I see these gems I have to remind myself they are real, not from Sam Moon. They are gaudy, but breathing. Loved the sapphire, my birthstone and the Prince of Wales broach.

Andrew, shame the voice can’t pronounce “cabochon” and “pave” in content where jewellery is one of the star.
