    My name is bill Oh I'm smart. I'm trying to find a way to compress WHY the third act of the movie shits all over the premise into digestible bites for you without going into a several paragraphs long rant on WHY it sucks and had that not been included would've improved the movie tremendously. But you are one of those idiots who think Nolan can do no wrong but the movie's spiel about how love can transcend space and time and crap was not needed or welcome as well as Mann going nuts.

    Interestellar was amazing. I watched it with my family and my mother and sister fell asleep, and they thought it was boring. But me and my dad watched all of it, and when it ended we were so astounded that we didn't talk about the movie or talk at all. We just said good night and went to sleep.

    Contact should have made the list, or at least an honorable mention. The ending is surely "mind-bending": questioning wether Jodie Foster actually went through a wormhole to an alien civilization or if it was only in her head, and then at the very end tilting the viewer's angle once again. And also with the religious parallel being disclosed simultanously.

    I feel like I'm the only one that wasn't absolutely blown away with interstellar's tesseract. I was amazed, no doubt, but I understood it completely and it all made sense. The only part that blew me away was when he realized that the beings that made the tesseract were humans. The thought that humans could go into the 5th dimension to save their world never even occurred to me. And that handshake, it was a big surprise as well.

    In interstellar, the scene that really really really freaked me out is when they got back from the first planet after being gone for like 2 hours, but on the ship 26 years passed. Like WTF

  • @mrchangcooler

    @mrchangcooler

    Liam Wajsfelner They litterally said AND explained why it was like that in the movie. It was honestly the easiest thing in the movie to grasp.

  • @ProierThanYou

    @ProierThanYou

    9 жыл бұрын

    Liam Wajsfelner It actually makes a lot of sense. It has to do with the mass of the object. The speed of an object can also make a difference. What happened in Interstellar the Black Hole was essentially slowing down time. It's called gravitational time dilation and is a very interesting thing to read about. I remember I watched a TV show about it and it said that if we had, for example a train track that went right around the Earth and a train that moved at the speed of light and put people on it time would have to slow down inside. This is because the speed of light is a constant so if a person was to then run up the middle of the train, they'd effectively be breaking the speed of light, and since it's believed that it's impossible for the speed of light to be broken, time has to slow down on that train so that the person running up it cannot break light, so they wouldn't run they'd look like they were in slow motion to an extent for people looking in from outside, but on the inside it'd look normal. But due to this time slowage I think it said 1 hour on the train would be the equivalent of 10 or 100 years outside of the train.

  • @chriss.9398

    @chriss.9398

    ProierThanYou Yeah almost exactly what this guy said. The first planet was inside the main field of energy from the massive black hole in that solar system therefore anyone inside or outside of that field would experience time at incredibly two different rates. When they were only inside the field for 2 hours the guy who experienced 26 years in the space ship if observing from the outside would see that those people who entered it to have completely slowed down or stopped in place inside the gravitational field. The universe is weird.

Clarke worked extensively with Kubrick on the movie and I believe wrote the book "2001: A Space Odyssey" while they were filming and it was released just after it came out. The Wikipedia entry on 2001 is quite extensive and should fill in where my memory doesn't. ;~)

    Joseph K actually before he could've actually been ripped apart he exceed or reached light speed due to the size of the black hole ( gargantua was different because of it's unusual size as it was big enough to be quesar and not be a black hole but still it was a black hole) as soon as cooper reached near light speed he escaped in to the fifth dimension just like a graviton particle ( graviton particle is supposedly the mediating particles between gravitational forces and are undetectable as they r said to be escaped into the fifth dimension) this could explain the flash of light seen by cooper which is made by him breaking the speed of light ofcorse this is still very hypothetical but the point is that the trip could've been survived bcoz the black hole was too big

SPOILER BELOW The whole movie they spend trying to make it to the bridge of a spaceship to get there bearings in space only to find out THERE ARE NO STARS. They find out 1.) they're actually underwater on a distant life-bearing planet and 2.) they've been there for nearly 800 years or something. 3.) the one main character is actually a result of another main characters psychosis.... that triple whammy really through me for a loop when I first saw it.

If you really think that Nolan is the best director than that just proves that you don't know anything about movies & the history of film making. Nolan just makes pseudo-intellectual pretentious movies that make stupid people feel smart. Theres literally tons of current living directors that are way better than Nolan ... Wes Anderson, David Fincher, Paul Thomas Anderson, The Coen Bros, and many more. You're probably just some dumb kid that watches AMC movie talk and now you think that you're an expert on film lol. With Cooper and the extra dimensional tesseract, I think it was not that he was pulled back in time, but that he was placed into a reality where all of time exists all at once, and that he could move to any point in time by changing his physical location (in this case, his daughter Murphy's room) - the Tesseract was an environment in the black hole where time and space were linked in an incredible way, with gravity being able to cross the dimensional barrier. Mind blowing in concept, and don't even think about asking for the mathematical proof...

    The space child fucked me up. I hated 2001 with a passion. Bad mouthed it for years and after a long time I realized I was still talking about it and criticizing it. Kept googling different perspectives people watched it with and that's when it hit me... I was sort of obsessed with it and it was truly unforgettable. Watched it again. Blew my mind and I loved it.

    Daniel S Who ever put the totem on the list hasn't watched the movie enough... Even some simple things should have people questioning why a top would be some ones totem. All other totems work slightly different then a random person would expect them to but the totem works the same way a person would expect in the real world. I am convinced Cobbs totem is his wedding ring

    Reason why people like Interstellar more than 2001 - because the gigantic amount of exposition told them exactly what was going on (Tars during the tesseract scene) so they could feel 'smart' instead of being left to interpret it by themselves. Good thing Kubrick had the audacity to have faith in the audience's intelligence instead of just pandering to them.

  • @MachineFuckingHate

    @MachineFuckingHate

    People didn't like Interstellar more. It's very divisive. And movies like Interstellar will have exposition by default. You're dealing with real-life science, or at least its shallow version. Just like you have Jurassic Park explain every answer to not confuse its audience. 2001 is not based in real-life science. It's science fiction. It's a concept, not an actual story.

    WatchMojo.com When you do these types of spoiler lists, can you please say the name of the movie before the spoiler. For example, say Soylent green...PAUSE, soylent green is people, That way i can pause the video and skip to the next movie instead of hearing the spoiler before its too late :)

    I really enjoyed "Lucy", especially when she absorbed the rest of the blue powder and used 100% of her brains' capacity. and traveled through time.

    One of the biggest mind-benders for me.. goes beyond the movie Interstellar: while the movie portrays our first trip to the moon to be a farce that 'everyone' ate; it causes me to wonder about our real history and what lies we've swallowed. We've been told that we are evolved animals on a extremely rare planet (that has life). Yet we are surrounded by the remains of advanced ancient civilizations. They all talk about dragons, giants and gods. We know our universe had a beginning which begs the question... WHAT started us.
