A. Lange & Sohne is the best, also the best ad here.

I also have a collection from many of these brands that produced watches that were produced for artillery officers and physicians that have specific markings on the dial. Split second or 1/5 second. Theses were designed to go thru everything thrown at them. Any of the original leather watchbands that still have life, I've replaced with Grosgrain Bands until I can find authentic replacements.

ALS is my favorite watch maker. But because I am not filthy rich. I’ve got to say Grand Seiko and Sinn are more realistic in my world.

That Patek ad was classy AF. They just don't make them like that anymore. Overall an extremely accurate list, with the only debatable one being IWC. Blancpain had fallen pretty hard from the sky but since it's the oldest watchmaker PERIOD, just gotta let that slide so yeah, the list is at least 9/10.

Best ad for me was IWC schaffhausen, it settles in quickly. Least favorite was Blancpain and Patek Philippe, Patek Philippe was so nonsense to me.

I think Piaget should be on this list as these are mainstream watch brands. With that said, I do agree with the majority of your list. This list would be much more different if independent watchmakers qualify. If they do, I think Phillipe Dufour, Antoine Preziuso, F.P Journe, Greubel Forsey, Kari Voutilainen and so on should be included.

Nice top 10 selection. Make a top 20 and I would suggest you to include Cartier, GP, UN, Bovet, Piaget which are not any less luxury then the top 10.

@@mcclechinois3721 Absolutely. GP deserves to be in the top 10 for sure taking its history and quality even though doesn't have the popularity of others. FP Jorne of course too. Their craftsmanship and quality is outstanding for such small company and speaks class. Rolex is the king of sales, value retention and desirability! Gotta give them that, and for sure deserves to be in top 10 even though lacks craftsmanship in my opinion. UNs are nice but with too much models like Omega they are just all over the place. At least Omegas dont cost as much and has a quality as good as Rolex if not better at often times. So UN don't deserve top 10 I think but top 20 for sure.

This is a much better list than your original offering (IMO of course). The movement of Rolex to #8 is, I believe, warranted. I would say that Omega should rank above IWC and just behind Rolex. I agree that ALS should be ahead of AP but I also believe that ALS should be ahead of VC. I really believe that ALS and PP should be tied for #1 as they've both been dominant in their market for the last ten to twenty years while VC hasn't put much out that's comparable to ALS or PP lately and AP has more or less turned into the "Royal Oak Watch Company". Every time I see "White Bread" I can't help but chuckle. Not out of disrespect, far from it. The irony just gets to me.

I'm not aiming at luxury brands but something between 50-300 price range and hopefully after 3-5 years somewhat a luxury line. How hard/easy is it to penetrate the watch market?
