I'm going to be that guy and say that Kirby's Avalance and Mean Bean Machine are NOT ports of Puyo Puyo Tsu as the progression system for Tsu is based on how many points you earn. Those two are ports of the original Puyo Puyo which is a linear progression of 13 stages every time.

Speedrunning has indeed evolved, and standards are higher. I've actually noticed this myself. When I was running Megaman X series in the past, I was one of the people that pushed to advance the standard at the time, by implementing TAS strats, and coming up with a lot of other strats from then on. This was around 2010/2011. I used to have videos on my channel of the routes for each stage implementing the then new strats, and we all have advanced from then on. I removed those videos, and intended to update the routes with newer strats, but the standard kept getting higher, and we kept finding new tricks, so I never got around to it. I've since stopped, and the current standard, I would think, is pretty much as optimised as it can be. Everyone since, not only for the MMX series, but every series, has higher standards now, and old SDA runs (I would say around 2012 and prior), are runs from people that didn't have those same standards. Just something interesting to think about there. Note: This doesn't necessarily mean everyone at that time didn't have high standards, of course.

XBladenoJutsu Keep the old speedruns on youtube. So many people nowadays love watching vintage speedruns, and if the youtuber Summoning Salt ever makes a Megaman X World Record Progression video, you could most likely be on there if your runs were world records.

I ran the games, but not as seriously as others. I never got any records, and any PB's I highlighted were on Twitch, but they got deleted after Amazon bought it. I was mostly a planner/strats kind of person. I still do have some tricks and demonstration videos on my channel, but the overall routes aren't there anymore.

One of the best Elite speedrunners ever Rayan Isran (Perfect Ace) was literally 7 years old when he started to run Goldeneye 007 for N64. Joining the elite in 2005 at age 10, and later becoming dual champion of both Perfect Dark and Goldeneye.

Space Ghost lol. Not one of the best speedrunners ever. One of the best goleneye/perfect dark speedrunners ever. Saying he is overall one of the best when he has only done GoldenEye and perfect dark is a bit of a stretch imo. My you can objectively say he is one of the best of the elite community if you go by the numbers... You can not apply those numbers across speedrunning in general to conclude he is one of the best overall. That's just nonsense. There is no indication that is the case.

Since the Mario Kart community doesn't focus on full game runs it's worth noting the longest standing WR is Ghost Valley 1 flap on Super Mario Kart lasting 4100+ days

Most of these records can probably be beaten by the modern speed running community with just a few dozen hours of effort. I'm looking forward to each next year's edition of this list, where the records will only grow stronger.

I don't know a lot about Puyo Puyo but Kirby's Avalanche and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine aren't exactly direct ports of Puyo Puyo Tsu but rather, they are ports of Puyo Puyo 1. There are a few gameplay differences between the first game and the second game.

people are making fun of the bounties, but even just a little incentive can be enough to push someone to do a run if they were even possibly considering it before. ...for example, i've actually played Predator 2. it's a great game, and i speedrun a lot of genesis games already, so i'm probably going to give it a shot just for the hell of it. learning a fun speedgame and getting a couple meals out of it sounds like a good time to me.

Start a patreon for speedrun bountys, I'd easily throw like $50 at some improved speedruns of my favourite games.

And no, Mean Bean Machine and Kirby's Avalanche can'T be counted in that since those are ports of Puyo Puyo, not the game we are talking about there (Puyo Puyo Tsuu), there are a lot of changes between the two, so it can't be treated as the same game...

I suggest putting a timer on these rewards, just so you don't get emails in a decade asking for hundreds of dollars lol. Idk if promises over youtube videos are lawful, but it sounds iffy to me imo. EDIT: Also I LOVE the outro song. BROCKHAMPTON ftw
