Quick fix on the XY Starters: You can indeed check the starters before the battle with Shauna. You regain control of your character before the battle, and can check the summary then. It shaves off about 10-15 seconds from each soft reset.

Yes! Finally someone else knows. You can check your starter as soon as the cutscene of getting it finishes! You just gotta save before the cutscene, pick your starter, and then check your pokemon while you're still sitting down!

hunting for tapu koko was harder cause 1. long ass cutscene 2. no saving. once you beat the champion (not gonna spoil it) you're gonna go through a LONG ass cutscene. that directly drags you to the battle with tapu koko. 3. it has a 0% chance of being shiny. (damn shiny locks)

I actually found munchlax super quick recently when I played a Japanese version of Pearl. I also caught feebas in my coronet in the same game. That took me 3 hours though. Also found a shiny medicham on my way up to the 7th gym.

Very recently I got Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and I wanted a Milotic on my team that had the best ability competitively and the right IVs. I got a Feebas and used the DexNav to get my desired Feebas. I also had a modest synchronizer in my party, but when I got to a Feebas with the IVs or ability that wasn’t desirable, I would keep my synchronizer out of the lead to save PP. After a few attempts of trying to get the ones that run away really fast, I did another DexNav and saw that it wasn’t that great and switched out my synchronizer. I then encountered it to find it was shiny and I was completely shocked. I was both happy and upset that I switched out my synchronizer, but I remember how RNG worked (due to my days of RNG manipulation) and the more I thought about it, the more I knew that if I didn’t switch out the synchronizer, I wouldn’t of gotten the shiny in the first place. When I was done with the game, I knew that I wanted my Milotic to get every ribbon she can get and as of right now, she is done with Hoenn and Kalos (for now) and ready to conquer Alola

I spent almost 8 months looking for female shiny combee (around 6 hours everyday), and found in total 4 shinies. ALL MALE.

Considering you only can grind with Audino, I'd say that's the easier one to get, considering you encounter so much more than others. Even then, shiny is shiny, so I'd still be thrilled too. Lol

I think that number 2 should be munchlax, for the simple fact the pain of getting 1 non shiny is so hard and the honey trees take so long to reset.

@Henry Bergeson Might be hacked, to get Manaphy you need to play rangers, then you can get a manaphy egg on ONE savefile (not sure if you can do it on multiple savefiles) but it does mean you would have to get access to mystery gifts, redeem manaphy, if not shiny make a new savefile and repeat

For those who watches this video recently, it is a bit easier to get shiny Manaphy as this video might show. The best way in short words: - Beat 4 Ranger copies - Send over the 4 eggs - Trade the eggs to a new savefile - Hatch and if not shiny, soft reset so they are eggs again - in the meantime create a new savefile on a different Gen 4 game - trade them over and hatch there - repeat until you created a gen 4 savefile which hatches the shiny Manaphy It's still one of the hardest hunts for sure, but you don't have to buy millions of Ranger copies as many people think. But great video! That was a lot of research for both of you!

It took me 2 years to get shiny froakie and now I can finally play the game

I remember years ago when I wanted to start my Kalos journey with a Shiny male Chespin for my third X playthrough. I would spend a little while on random days trying it, but I gave up after less than 100 tries. Now, in June 2019, I wanted to try again, and luckily after around 10 soft resets, I actually got a male Shiny Chespin and I was able to continue with my shiny starter for the first time.

@@shadowxwrld I agree with the colors. It always reminds me of Autumn with the dark reds, yellows, and browns. But since you have time to do it, you should try it. My suggestion is before starting the long sequence, go to the settings menu and change the text speed to fast to make things quicker and chang it back when done.

For the shiny Froslass and shiny Galade, you can increase the chances of getting the right gender if you use a Pokemon with cute charm as it's ability. Cute charm, if you didn't know, increases the encounter rate of Pokemon of the opposite gender in the wild.

Looking back at this, I'd first like to say WOW DALLAS WENT 70K ON REGISTEEL, and the gen 2 hatching scene has changed a lot with more research into how the DV mechanics work, so we now know that breeding for a shiny can either be impossible or have a 1/64 chance with the right setup! Also odd egg lol.

actually, you can save a few seconds in Pokemon X and Y by checking while you are still at the table. No battle required

The hardest shiny for me was ralts. Took me two years to get one in my ruby save file. And when I bought and played Omega Ruby the first ralts I found was shiny. I still feel the pain to this day... Edit:Just found another one, Now I can get a shiny Gardevoir and Gallade

I remember once as a kid I found a feebas (Legitimately without even knowing about how difficult it is). I proceeded to run away, cause I thought "No way this ugly ass fish is any good".

That's WAY easier. You can use the masuda method to get Phione. Manaphy cannot be breeded.

His background is shiny.... Like lucario and riolu, he replaced his blue with yellow! Lol didn't see he did it with all his shiny episodes, that's dedication and cool.

My favourite moment was my first time in Kalos, I got shiny on My first pick. Never knew how lucky I was. Lol

I actually found a shiny female combee in pokemon black by accident, I didn’t know what a shiny was at the time but it looked different and I just caught it. Thank god I did.

My first Shiny was a psyduck. I knew it was a shiny, but really the accident was that I was just training my eevee I had caught a while earlier... I lost it about a year later because I had probably accidentally traded it away. :-:

I'm hunting shiney charmander on heart gold rn so thank you for making me feel better about my odds. Its my first time going for a shiney haha

Two things: First, I just wanna actually calculate the chance of encountering a shiny Safari Zone Chansey. 1/100 × 1/8192 = ~.00013% 1/25 × 1/8192= ~.00052% Between .00013% and .00052%... WTF. Secondly, anyone who says they've ever caught two shiny Spinda with the same pattern will be called a humongous liar.

I swear shiny hunters have the patience of a saint. The only shiny that I was patient enough to actually hunt was Pikipeck. All of my other shinies are random encounters.

I've hunted gen 6 starters! Pretty sure I've gotten Fennekin a few times! I've also hunted Frosslass, shiny hunting all of the Unowns right now, I've gotten shiny Raikou and Mesprit, hunting Vespiquen, and I have gotten shiny Manaphy once. Never. Again.

Zeku Because just finding one is so incredibly cryptic and luck based that I'm not entirely convinced that anyone has found out how to find it by themself. Basically, you need to find a Corsola, which are only a 1% encounter rate off the coast of Hau'oli City, though it gets raised to 20% in bubbling areas. Then, you need to get it to call for help, which only consistently happens when it's at low HP/has an Adrenaline Orb used on it. _Then,_ you need to hope that their call for help actually gets answered, which seems to be a 50/50 shot, and then, and only then, do you have a *20% chance* for a Mareanie to answer the cry. It's completely insane.

+Timmy Reobed You might know this already, but aDrive has managed to encounter one (yeah, a Shiny Mareanie from SOS Chaining). +Zeku Apparently you can't get Mareanie to call for other Mareanie? At least, that's what aDrive says. You can test it out for yourself, but... based on what Timmy said, I wouldn't try it lul

Majoub Johnson 10 Only shiny locked are Reshiram/Zekrom in BW, Xerneas/Yveltal in XY, Kyogre/Groudon/Rayquaza/Deoxys in ORAS and all legendaries+guardians+UBs in SM afaik. Mythical Pokemon distributed via events are also shiny locked (or forced shiny).

I got a shiny Feebas pretty quick in AS. Only took a few hours really, but it was annoying to evolve.

When you *kill* the shiny. It ends up making you replace "the shiny" with "yourself."

In Diamond when I was literally like 13, in the part where you have to lead whatsherface through the forest, we ran into a shiny buneary and SHE FUCKING KILLED IT before I could get rid of the other pokemon to catch it. it was not even me. it was just an emotional roller coaster and I need to sue her for emotional damages

you can see if your starter is shiny right after the cutscene if you pause and go to your pokemon and then check the summary, will save a little bit of time

I barely have the patience to catch 1-5% chance pokemon let alone shiny hunt, so I was ecstatic when the first Entei I caught in Dynamax Adventures was my first shiny legendary outside of an event.

Feebas: ultra rare. Also feebas with his 50 percent encounter rate in the tiles: yes.

I caught my 1st Feebas after 4 hours of hunting while watching this video. So this is now my favourite video on youtube.

I caught one when I was like 8, I just read it was on that route and proceeded to catch one. Had no idea how rare they were, I just wanted a milotic. Didn't know the prerequisite for its evolution (max cuteness) and trained it to level 74....

I have an ActionReplay i used to make a platinum save file with only shinies. I honestly don't do that anymore and have not transferred a single pokémon from that. But this video makes me think it'd be mercy to let someone borrow it. A frigging _2 minute cutscene!?_

Had only found one shiny and it was Golbat back in sapphire. I didn't even know shiny pokemon existed even though I played sliver and got a shiny Gyarados but I thought it was something that wasn't special because everyone gets that. This was back when the internet wasn't accessible like that
