Are you actually serious? Danny Carey is only number 8?! I might have my Tool fan blinders on but Carey is one of the greatest and most intricate drummers ever. He can master some of the most difficult pieces of music. Try playing in some of those time signatures he does. Listen to Ticks and Leeches if you want to hear the sheer talent he has. I'm not saying the other drummers don't belong on the list, but 8 is WAAAY too low for someone of Danny Carey's caliber.

The rev and Lars got higher than Danny Carey... That's fucked. Although I hate avenged sevenfold, I agree that the rev could have been on this list but the fact that Lars got top 3 and Carey didn't is dog shit

I agree, Danny Carey's beats are some of the most intricate and complicated in metal. I guess if WatchMojo made a top 10 list of the most SKILLED or CREATIVE drummers in addition to this one (which seems like a list of the most INFLUENTIAL drummers), Carey would top the list no question.

Please some one give me the list of all drummers included in this video and which one do you think is best...

Thanks for including Rick " Thunder God" Allen on the list!!!! But why not Tommy Lee,Charlie Benate,and Jason Bonham.

He sucks now, I know that. Even some schoolband drummer probably better than him. But, he was a beast back in 80's-90's. Plus, he's the drummer of one of the biggest, most influential and most succesful metal band ever, and a lot of drummers considered him as ther influenced, so IMHO he deserved to be in the list, even probably #3 a bit too high for him..

His big achievment is forming the band. Even then they wanted to kick him out. My worst memory of him is on the flight 666 dvd from iron maiden. He tells Nico McBrain he should get smaller drums so the audience can see him better. But i get what he achieved with the band and is a big part of it. The real problem here are all those 10 best-something-lists, made from people who don't have a clue about the topic.

Lars is not a good drummer,obviously good enough but who he's ahead of give me a break. I'm telling you Lars is a very basic drummer I've always imagined if metallica ever had a good drummer. & I can't believe gene hoglan didn't make this list

I would say Rick Allen deserves more than an Honorable Mention considering he had to get over having only ONE ARM!

My guys did not research. The first clips of Iron Maiden (Run to the hills) showed Clive Burr not Nicko McBrain. They also put the title 'Run to the hills' when he was playing a smaller kit, it was actually the 'Trooper'

Anyone notice on Iron Maiden where it said Run to the Hills the last time but they're playing the intro/main riff/outro to The Trooper?

Chris Adler is just an "honorable mention"....this is very close to blasphemy.

+Jafet Violante in my opinion Adler is above jordison. Joey has speed but Adler has his original touch. but in all honesty they could be interchangeable depending on what song your basing it on. Both amazing drummers none the less

If you watch the video backwards it actually goes in order

“If there ever was a drummer that made you question what you just heard, it would be Tool’s Danny Carey.” By that logic, he should be top 5 or top 3, not #8.

Best METAL drummers could be Chris Adler, Tomas Haake, Sean Reinert, Paul Bostaph, Brann Dailor, George Kollias, Van Williams, Sid Falck, Dave Lombardo and Gene Hoglan. Danny Carey and Mike Mangini are in a league of their own. Anyone agree?

I worship Chris Adler. Lamb Of God is the most underrated and beautiful metal band of all times. And Chris is the most calm, focused and professional drummer i've ever seen. Finally someone mentions it! LOG forever!!!

I don’t think he’s necessarily a “bad” drummer. I think he’s a good drummer who got lazy and stopped innovating after “…And Justice For All”. He got his money and is just coasting now

My favorite snare will forever be the warbird by Mapex for Chris Adler. That design on the side is so sick!!!!

Daney Carey or Brann Dailor should be #1 lars is garbage. Its like on the other list they had Ringo Starr FFS. I have no issue with Dave Lombardo being #1 though.

Caden Ringling I agree with Neil being a god on the kit, but Rush isn't Heavy Metal or hard rock. IMO I would put joey at #2 and thomas haake at #6, with brann dailer instead of tommy lee. Other than that, good list

+Caden Ringling Neil isn't really metal or hard rock. He drums in some hard rock ways but is mostly prog rock so he shouldn't really be in your list.

***** *Hard Rock and Heavy metal drummers*. Rush is considered Classic or Progressive rock, depending who you are talking to. They made a point of saying the purposely left out classic rock bands. When I first saw RUSH in the late 70's they were seen as a hard rock band but that faded pretty quick, RUSH didn't like the label either.

Larz at number 3 😂😂. I was feeling it coming actually. There are very few people out there that can discern talent and high technique vs banging away I don’t agree with your list and the positioning. Drumming you want to hear dynamics soft and loud not all loud, you want to see and hear doubles , flams , mixed sticking , being used to give the music more Color and flare. You want an drummer that can hold a series of solid ostenatos and have independence to express and comp. There are few out there at possess all these. But one must listen to a wide range of music and hear the differences

It's funny that they picked Nicko McBrain at 4 then show the "Run To The Hills" video which featured Clive Burr, who played on the album.

Danny Carey is hands down top 3 and should be first in my opinion. His tight timing, his unusual sense of tempo change, and his overall technical ability are far better than Lars. #8 is an insult.

These videos by mojo are dumb. This girl talks way too much and there is too little drumming. As well, the clips they do show are terrible at showing these drummers skills. They show the chorus to Panama, get real how about the intro to hot for teacher. The non-mixed clip of Portnoy at a demonstration, how about Under a Glass Moon or any of his songs. Besides they show Mangini instead of Portnoy. Anyone with a camera can be in the media these days. Sheesh.
