Ah, I remember getting my first handheld console when I was a kid, a red Gameboy Advance SP. I instantly fell in love with it and the games... Oh the games were brilliant. Pokémon, The Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man, the list is endless... One day when I was in a plane to visit my aunt. After playing for a half hour or so I tucked in my Gameboy in one of those small nets they have at the front of your seat. I must've fallen asleep after that because when getting off I completely forgot about it. I remembered about it when I reached my aunt's house and my uncle and dad went back to the airport to see if they could possible get it back. No luck. I felt horrible the entire time I was there. Luckily, I still had all of my cartridges of games in my bag. Then about a few months later I think, my dad surprised me with a new one which was gray instead of red. Didn't give a damn about the color, I was too shocked to even care! I still have it to this day and that was around 11 or 12 years ago. Good times man, good times...

+Deven R. Depends on your taste in games. I simply don't like Nintendo games and I have tried too. The PSP was the first handheld that had games I enjoyed like Syphon Filter, GOW, GTA and Metal Gear. The Vita improved on the PSP's hardware in every way and it has a library of games that no other handheld could match. It's mind blowing to play Uncharted and KillZone on a tiny console that fits in your hand. The Vita still has lots of good Indies and remote play is cool and if Sony reduce the price of PlayStation Now that will extend it's life also. Sony have said there will be no successor to the Vita so as far as handhelds go I will be out of the market. Touchscreen controls on phones are a joke and like I said previously Nintendo games hold no interest to me.

Screw the rivalry between the Nintendo Switch & the PS4, the Rivalry between the Nintendo DS and the PSP is how it began.

i got my PSP(3001) when i was in 2nd or 3rd grade somewhere between 2006 or 2007 and i still have it to this day,i even dropped it several (by that i mean a bit more than several) times on hard surfaces,even broke one of the UMD cases outside and the PSP and that UMD still work today(though my discs are kind of scratched,slightly,still playable ☺) I'm planning on passing down my PSP as a family heirloom if i have children,with those falls,it should've been broken by now,but my PSP says otherwise. this is likely what my PSP thinks to itself all day,"Still goin'...😎"

I grew up on both the GameGear and Game Boy. I then moved on to the GBA and PSP, followed by the DS Lite, and I gotta say, of all five I find the DS Lite to be the best of them. Fits nicely in the hand and in the pocket. I usually have both slots occupied by games.

Then there is the Playstation VITA. Folks despite what you may have heard the VITA is an amazing console and while it's own native library maybe lacking it has some of the best means of playing certain games Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3, Injustice, Need for Speed Underground, HyperDimension Neptunia and so many others that it definitely should be looked out for. You know what made me buy the console? I shit you not the ability to play my own music during games.

Sony should not even be in the top 5's. Nintendo is so ahead of Sony with their handheld market, that Sony backed out with their handheld franchise. The PS Vita only sold 7 million and the 3DS sold about 80 million.

it actually had a front light, not a backlight on the sp Nintendo for some reason never added a backlight to their consoles or maybe the Gameboy pocket had one but I don't remember.

+WatchMojo.com Please do correct the resolution of the PSVita as it wasnt true 1080p HD graphics. The native resolution is 640 by 544 also called qHD.

Damn, I remember when I got my DSi, I took that thing everywhere.

my favourite handhelds (not in order) GBA SP (my one had 300+ games somehow) PSP (3 years ago I lost it (July 2015),somehow my neighbours found it on their window (January 2016) PSVITA (I never had one but I want it so badly) OLD 3DS (design looks so much better than the xls and "new") DS (the old fat one that released in 2004) no gameboy because I never ever ever saw one

I had a PSP before, then it broke 3 yrs ago:((((((!!! At least I'm getting another PSP this summer!!!.!!!!!!!!

The Ghost Gamers I understand and agree but the 3DS is, in my opinion, much more liked and is the best selling current gen system.

+janidoe4561 How is it not? It was a huge success and had tons of games on it. It got exclusive Metal Gear Solid games, exclusive God of War games and tons of others. 3DS has Nintendo exclusives and some RPGs

My favourite handheld consoles are the Atari Lynx my second favourite is the DS/DS LITE and my third favourite is the GBA SP (even though you needed an extra adapter just so you could use it with headphones)

I had a Nintendo DSi when I was about 7 or 8 years old way back in 2009 or 2010. Oh sweet memories!

Where is the Atari Lynx? Not even in honorable mentions?

And the gameboy should not be number 2 it perfomed bad even for its time beign very big without colors and no backlightthe lynx and game gear were much superior

@@thetabbyguy921 Gameboy was popular and still good with the monochrome screen. I had both Gameboy and Game Gear and I loved them both. I had the Tv tuner for game gear too.

@@thetabbyguy921 the whole reason it is there is it was the handheld market of the 90's just like the game and watch was the handheld makret of the 80's as the gameboy got only improvements 7 years after it came out with the pocket, light, and color with it getting a successor in 2001. It was the first console to pass the 100 million market and was the 7th console to get the title of the best selling game console of all time which it kept until the mid to late 2000's and is still is number 3 on the best selling video game consoles of all time. While the gamegear only sold around 10 million and had its battery issues and the lynx made a bit over 1 million doing slightly better than the 5200. So while it was underpowered the Gameboy out did everyone else by a land slide.

Whoa, I do or did own at least four of these. I just can't get enough of their games to feature Sonic!

I miss being a kid. Back when a handheld game system was amazing to bring to school.

The reason it fail is because the memory card price was too expensive and the game doesn’t get enough support so it lead to lagging and bug when it first got released!

PSP was the best handheld console for me. i've also had gameboy and nintendo advance.

Agreed... I also own a few Nintendo handhelds but they never really made any good games for a more adult audience. Zelda games were the only games that really appealed where as the PSP raised the bar in terms of power, capabilities and a good range of titles to suit all ages!

Sharan Srinivas Yeah, my one cousin made it fall off the railing on my porch and the LCD screen got f***ed up. My gram got it fixed (for $100) and then his brother somehow broke it and didn't tell me. I was so pissed.

ds lite was a amazing, until I was introduced to the psp... twisted metal and vice city stories😎 I was never really introduced to consoles as a kid, Handelds for some reason owned kid gaming

i miss my psp, my dad gave me a blue one for christmas years ago, it was so fun i used it all the time

I used to have the GameBoy Advanced. I do still have the 3DS, DS Lite, GameBoy color and the DSI somewhere in my house, as well as the cartridges and the DS case.

Started with the game and watches and haven’t missed a gen up until now, the ps1 gba and og Xbox still have a special place

Whats the best: 3DS new, 3DS or PSP?

Im looking for a portable gaming system for my dad because he is a truck driver and he stays a couple of days in the truck.He loves gat 5 and he even asked me if there is a way to hook up a playstation in his truck but I don't think so.Please give a reccomendation.
