I come to you from an even further future to respond that DICE choose wisely after their second Battlefront game had a disaster of a launch. After the backlash the devs decided to listen to the fan feedback and I would argue the current Battlefront game in my time surpasses the original. I literally played both the 2017 and 2005 Battlefronts back to back to test this and although I did enjoy playing the 2005 game, its starting to show its age, at least in my time.

I hate when goverments try to fuck over their own people, because of corruption, or politics, or "economic" reasons, or all of the above. i dont think he was putting her on a pedestal. what he was saying was that, no one deserves the rape and death threats she has been getting. thats all. in fact, i did some research. many of the posts those trolls have made against her actually break the UN charter of Human Rights... International Law. now, dont get me wrong, im not defending anitas opinions or politics at all, let alone support them, as i dont support them at all, i have many personal issues with the cause she represents! and i dont see how someone who doesnt play the games she talks about can actually have an opinion on them as she doesnt have the context. i just agree with joe that, she doesnt deserve the horrid threats and comments she has received. no one does. at the end of the day that is still someones little girl you know. in fact, its against the UN charter of human rights to treat anyone the way the trolls have treated her. and i will do my damndest to protect her from those trolls, as No one deserves to be attacked in such a depriaved why from such utter dregs of society! i wouldnt wish the treatment she has received even on kim-il-sun. but that is all i will do, defend a fellow human being, as for the rest of it, i disagree with her opinions and politics entirely! now, i will agree with you that there is a lot of false information on her videos, and that kickstarter campaign Reeks something damn fishy!! but, if there has been a con or two going on, that is up to the united States legal System to sort out. it is their job to judge and, if proven, punish her. mirta000 good point, America is perhaps the personification of all that is evil about money. no wonder the 2 greediest publishers in gaming happen to be based there. still, i doubt she has the money needed to err.. "convince" a "wrong decision". were talking billions for that.. she only raised, what...16 thousand bucks? 2. yes, she does deserve heavy Critique, I agree perfectly, and i agree most of her videos are Pure Propaganda, and nothing more. i mean, i can point out that "there are no strong females in gaming" is Pure BS with two Player Characters and Three Games off the top of my head.. Cate Archer from No One Lives Forever and its Sequel, and Joanna Dark From Perfect Dark on the Nintendo 64 which really does prove she doesn't do any research as those are pretty old games now. And i am personally Disgusted to my very core! at her selling the "Femenist cause" in schools, especially Elementary, as kids should Not be exposed to such complicated and if used incorrectly, dangerous, political views, especially when they are too young to understand! i do agree she should be critiqued on that, and heavily! scscanlan true. true. it is indeed people who are greedy, but, it is the american mega-corporations, like EA and Activision, who are the "sterotypical personification" of corporate greed, the "Trope Codifier" if you will. Also, I really have to wonder, would capcom have taken such a disgustingly greedy business strategy as they have done, had EA not shown it was viable by doing it pre hand?

I am all for women's rights, and I totally agree that women are WAY too often overtly sexualized in video games, but Anita Sarkeesian says some really Goddamn stupid stuff.

^This. I'm damn sure that Jack Thompson got way more death threats than Sarkeesian, but no one ever defended Thompson. While death threats and such are vile and disgusting, it just comes with the medium. You make anything on the internet and chances are that some kid will disagree with you and send you a childish death threat. Anita was put in the spotlight because of the fact that she happens to be a feminist. Even though her arguments are completely faulty. If Sarkeesian was a dude, no one would care that some hack on the web got death threats.

Larty42 Mario has never been a game series that has a good story. It's always been about minimalistic stories such as "Peach be kidnapped,go save her" or " There be evil green monster,go beat up". It has nothing to do with sexism, it has everything to do with Mario games having no story to them, thus every single character is a damn trope.

Larty42 Super Mario Bro 2. (NES) Super Princess Peach. (DS) Mario Kart, Mario Sports games, Smash brothers, etc... Nintendo always used peach in a flexible manner. She always did different things. She was never "ALWAYS" a damsel in distress. I think they did a good job with her character.

Also to add more to Sarkesian. Anyone who gets 100.000 dollars to make videos after she asked for it and then goes around doing fuck all on youtube for weeks kinda deserves a shitstorm on their head. Again death threats and rape threats are not fine but seriously it's not unsurprising people would get pissed off.

AJ was a grade A white knight here, he should have called her out, the argument is way more than just "she stole people's gameplay footage". She misrepresents games in order to make them look bad and her look good.

Nobody deserves that type of treatment for sharing their own opinions, and even if she used somebody's gaming footage without permission it's in no way justifiable to send her death threats and saying that she should get raped. Also, calling Joe a white knight for simply being a decent human being and defending her from the ridiculous mistreatment she was getting is fucking pathetic.

I gave Joe a standing ovation for his rant about Anita Sarkessian and the hate she receives. That was beautiful and summed up my thoughts entirely. Honestly, those angry man-children really make me hate the community as a whole. Gamers of the world, please stop attaching your egos to videos games. It's great that we're all so passionate about what we love, but sometimes we take it a bit too seriously. And frankly, it makes us look bad. Honestly, what I find hilarious are the thousands of men who seem to literally dedicate their lives and effort into "discrediting" and "debunking" Anita Sarkeesian. Seriously? Is one woman critiquing your precious video games really worth this much anger and hostility? The anger and vitriol she receives is uncalled for and should not be tolerated. Honestly, these people remind me of those right-wing, Second Amendment nuts who go absolutely insane whenever the issue of gun control is mentioned, and subsequently arrive at the extreme, illogical and irrational conclusion that President Obama himself is going to personally arrive at their doors and take their precious guns away. It's the same reaction, if you really think about it. Anita Sarkeesian is not a threat to anything. She is not going to take your precious games away from you. I don't agree with everything she says, and while she may be a bit of an extremist (although, only a bit; her ideas are basic level, frankly), if the end-goal of her campaign is to help the gaming community and industry become more accessible and inclusive for women, then I think that's great; and I do support Anita in that regard. Again, I don't always agree with her critiques, but she has a right to say it without the worry of rape threats and disgusting behavior from whiny man-children. Others don't have to agree, but please, boys: Don't be childish dicks. Anita is not going to take your precious controllers away from you. And FYI, people: If you don't like what Anita Sarkeesian says, you don't have to listen to her, you know. Gamers really need to grow up and stop being so childish over someone critiquing their games.

***** Well no, my point of her forcing it down people's throats is the fact that she openly tried to get the U.N. to conform to her ideas. If you just have an opinion and you accept that, you don't go to the U.N. and have a debate just for the lolz. She, along with Zoe Quinn (someone who I absolutely despise even more than Anita, simply because she tried so hard to be relevant to Gamergate even though she stopped being relevant almost immediately), tried to make anti-feminist (her version of feminist) posts illegal and classified as hate speech/harassment. Even just people trying to have a nice, healthy debate with her (which, the silent majority of anti-feminists, or at least anti-radical feminists are actually trying to do) would be illegal going by what she planned on doing. Anita won't back down and take no as an answer and will find any way to force her opinions down anyone's throat - assuming they disagree with her.

I have whole new level of respect for Angry Joe on the Anita Sarkeesian controversy. I lost the same amount of respect on thuderf00t and AmazingAtheist for taking the time to argue on the topic.

Anita Sarkeesian...mentioned in an Angry Joe video...I think I need to sit down for a moment. I think you missed the point of why people are outraged at her Joe. There is so much I can say about her. Anyone who even bothered to look up the controversies that surround her will understand why. And I'm not talking about opinions...but cold, hard facts and the many contradictions, lies, twisting of data, and other things that have arose since this all started...even some before. I'll be honest, I don't like her but I don't think she should have gotten that overreaction. If she honestly thinks that there is something wrong, it is in her right to express herself...but the way she is going about all of this is so highly questionable, that it seems like something about her is discovered almost every month that contradicts her and discredits her. It's really a shame since I was actually looking forward to her "Women vs Tropes" video series. I may be a guy, but I'm not blind or deaf to intellectual conversation.That's actually how I initially found her, since I thought I would find it there. I guess none of this will matter anyway. The public only sees that she, a female, was attacked by male gamers, which I have to question as well, and nothing else. That's what was put on the news and that's the only thing people seem to care about. I've done my research on her to make sure I'm getting my facts straight. I even conducted some independent research where I listed the number and ratio of characters and their genders in the majority of games I own (around 170 now) to get a better picture of all of this. And I'm still adding on to it with every new game I get. I'm just getting tired of this subject since I'm automatically the one in the wrong since I oppose her. Regardless, interesting video. A lot of crap really did happen this year alone. Lucky number 13, right?

Î think the main problem with Sarkeesian is and always was that her videos are simply mostly lies, she does not work from the ground up, instead of looking at something and going along the lines to form an opinion, she starts with the opinion and than handpicks some scene, ripping them out of context and than says how bad everybody is, if she would have worked right and not just look stuff up in wikipedia, she wouldn't have faced such a strong opposition and I'm talking about real opposition here, there are tons of videos critizising her work not the fact that she is a woman. Furthermore Joe, you never heard anyone threaten you? I mean I have seen a video of some asshole making fun of you claiming to be angry jose, in my opinion thats much worse than some stupid "omg I repa ya", thats simply childish, rather than someone attacking you personally, furthermore why did she never talk about samus, as far as I remmeber, she is the most badass "chick" in the gaming industry, personally I think she could kick almost every heros ass, strike that..she could kick everyones ass.

About the 'Repa ya' thing, I think it's obvious that women are more sexually harassed than men. Not saying it doesnt happen to men, but it is more common with Men on women. And TotalBiscuit once said that one negative comment doesn't hurt you, but to see it daily will eventually break most people's backs. Lastly, a person once said this in regards to the 'anti-feminists': "When you hear a complaint that someone has raised, you might think that they’re expressing an irrational, emotional, over-reaction to the situation. You might even be correct - but it doesn’t matter, and here’s why: You don’t get to decide what someone else finds offensive. Sure, there's sexism in games, but that's because developers most often aim at their Male market. Women are 47% of the gaming population (that's actually a fact), but they're still seen as a minority in devs eyes and gamer eyes because they're not audible. Miss Sarkeesian is trying to change that. however she's not doing it how it should be done. and for that she's getting death threats. disgusting, really

Joe just called her out on her lack of crediting and footage theft, as well as criticising the disgusting rape/death threats - rightly so. He didn't agree with her. Goes to show how people see an argument as two sides, disregarding objective reasoning and critical thought.

Should have stopped her before Last of Us 2, lesson learned I guess.

Neither did I! I actually embarked on a KZread adventure following this video, a "Quest for Anita" you might say... and discovered that there is an almost universal revulsion towards her from the gaming community, and for apparently good reason. Joe makes some valid points about trolls in the internet community, but it's nearly impossible to watch Anita's videos as a gamer and not cringe in agony at the blanket terms and generalizations she makes towards gamers. It's quite bizarre, not to mention the out-of-context material she cites from video games she allegedly "played"

But I concede that she has a few valid points about the overt sexism in games. I may respectfully disagree with much of what she says, yet there is no reason for grabbing pitchforks and torches to attack her. The counter-arguments made in response to her views (that she is absolutely entitled to have and promote, the same of all of us do with respect) are fucking ridiculous. ***** Sometimes the "vocal minority" gets all of the attention. I guess that's just the way it is. Men and Women are equal, but will NEVER be the same. Therefor will NEVER be treated exactly the same. We men are hardwired to protect women as the gentler sex, this is why we identify with the "hero" story, or the "guy gets the girl in the end" story. There is nothing wrong with this!! To me most of these things are just differences between men and women and will NEVER go away.

look dude, i would never advocate violence against anyone and i genuinely do not like the people who make threats against her (even when a lot of them were probably fabricated by Sarkeesian herself since there was zero evidence of her ever going to the police about the latest threats) because those people make those who actually have real criticisms of Anita's claims look bad. they get lumped in the mania. i disagree heavily with most things Anita says about video games and our culture in general. i do not believe for a second we live in a patriarchy or that any games are grossly sexist to the point where they affect anything in the real world. she needs to be brought down a peg, but not attacked. she needs to be engaged rationally on her bullshit. that's how you end this. unfortunately, her and many feminists resort to the same sort of hysterics when they see that the other side's opinion might be more valid and reasonable.

With number 9, even though Fish chose his response poorly, you have to admit that Annoyed Gamer was WAY out of line when he made those comments.

I feel sorry for Phil Fish. Kind of reminds me of how I was in school extremely depressed and EXTREMELY stressed out. Hopefully he didn't kill himself and is living a much happier life.

Philip Paul No, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Being entitled to your opinion means that you have your own opinion and you are free to support it because it is your opinion. Doesn't mean you have the qualifications to back up your opinion, sure, but still you can have an opinion on things. Another, I definitely agree that Anita is for the most part is over stepping her boundaries. However, it doesn't take a qualified gamer to say that some games are definitely objectifying women. That much I will say she has a point on, because it's true. But the point is that it isn't about the validity of her argument, it's that gamers should be able to defend themselves and prove her wrong WITHOUT calling her a whore like you just did. How would you like it if you were called a manwhore by tons of people whenever you have a differing opinion. Do those people calling you a manwhore strengthen their argument in ANYWAY by calling you stupid shit? I can't comprehend why on earth you are even trying to use those kind of words. Unfortunately, it may go that way because as they always say "It'll get worse before it gets better," but in this case, it may just get worse than it is right now. Once a company gets high on themselves upon becoming a bigger company, they do some of the most meaningless updates that do not need to be done for the sake of making it "better," but in reality the updates they have made have been useless and has fucked a lot of people up. They like to fuck their technical creators in the ass multiple times and as of now, it has just been getting worse.

Anita Sarkeesian isn't a feminist. She is using feminism to get rich. She knows nothing about feminism or its grass roots. She doesn't care, she took a noble and just cause and used it to gain attention and get rich. She doesn't care about what her "works" does or what she influences. What matters to her is the amount of money she can make off of it. She's been caught lying about being a gamer, she's been using feminism to get what she wants, which is sad because she actually set feminism back by 20 years. Her videos are extremely uninformed and she flat out lies about her subject matter just so she can seem like she's telling the truth. The problem with Anita is that she can't be trusted. She didn't use most, if any, of that money for what she said she would use it for, she used it for her own greedy gain. And the funny thing is that real feminist have called her out. Some want to fix the problems, some want to blame society standards, some want to attack men, and etc. Especially with groups that claim anything is sexist doesn't give Feminism a good name. Andrew Valenti The issue is this: Anita is a fanatic with ridiculous ideas. And she is actually getting a stage. She judges feminism issues at Twitter, she talks at conferences. Sensible people take issue with this, a lot of sensible and intelligent people make videos who point out her stupidity, arrogance and dangerous ideas. But of course, there are also people who threaten her with violence. There are always idiots who do that. And it is wrong of course. Joe is generalizing everyone who has a problem with the work/ideas of Anita. He is presenting "us" as small boys who are afraid of her taking away our games. This generalization and rant is a result of a lack of research. Very misplaced. But let me repeat: death threats against anyone are despicable.

She's a fanatical zealot with an agenda and almost one million dollars in her back pocket which she gained through lies and misinformation. She's definitely one to watch out for. I'd be lying if I said I didn't admire her ability to manipulate people. The problem isn't that she's silencing offensive comments and concerned about threats made against her, that is more than reasonable and understandable. It's that she's also silencing any one who has legitimate criticisms of her viewpoint, which is why no one's ever seen her in any kind of debate (because she would be soundly defeated). If I were to say "Your information is wrong, what you're saying is a lie." On any of her forums or mediums, I'd probably get permabanned, or swarmed by her misinformed fanbase, and most likely labelled a 'sexist' for doing so.

Mog Gles I think he just made the mistake of being gullible, it's right to be against sexism what is wrong is being against it where there none and lying about it being there. I will assume he just wanted to also play the white knight and just blindly spouted the most PC/friendly he could think of ("sexism is bad guys, m'kay!!"). Mog Gles you are right, there is a long list of things that make people sick, including me, i was just say sexism makes me sick as it was relevant to the video.

Except Anita's oppinions are largely (this is coming from a girl, not a man) wrong and she using various tactics to confuse her viewers. Things she has shown were taken out of context by a large degree and the way she words her observations are confusing and made to mislead. Also she dissed Fem!Shep, who is the better Shepard in Mass effect. If anything, Male Shepard is a Mrs. Man, cause he's horrible. His voice actor is lack luster in all three games and it really grates on the mood. All the lines are pretty much the same, and Fem!Shep's voice actress out shined him. Also, Fem!Shep has the better romance option, which is Garrus. Tali was cute, but she couldn't compare to the romance with Garrus. It could have been just as good, but again, Male!Shep's voice actor was lack luster and it damaged the charm.

I loved maleshep voice actor just as much as femshep. 'Well bang okay?' I mean, yeah he can be a little lackluster at times, but at the same time Femshep can be too cliche/corny in some moments that made me cringe during the games. However no one is perfect and I love them both and I do realize that it's mostly preference based.

its amazing how many people are misconstruing Joe's arguments about Anita. He doesn't agree with what she does but argues she has the right to an opinion. Regardless of how terrible that opinion is, thats all it will ever be, a fucking opinion. So the amount of hate, death threats, rape threats and such like is completely out of line. If you disagree with her that is completely fine, just be civil about it.

I agree with Joe on many things but with Anita I am gonna have to draw the line, there is plenty of reasons why people dislike her. She is intellectually dishonest, silences anyone who dare challenges her arguments, conned thousands of idiots out of 160,000 dollars, stole videos from other youtubers and gave them no credit what so ever, is not actually a gamer as she herself has admitted and much more. She also has made bad points that can easily be refuted and avoids debates for this reason. She sees a person approaching her wanting a calm and rational debate she will make a 180 and run away like a bat out of hell. There is a reason why she refuses to debate with anyone, as she knows her arguments would be picked to pieces. I can tell Joe has barely glanced the opposing side of this debacle and made assumptions, mainly based on conjecture. All Joe needs to do is look at some youtube videos on the opposing side and see that they raise very good points about Anita's arguments and just how flawed and poorly researched they were, but I guess not even Joe is capable of being politically incorrect when Feminism is involved. Its because of all that I mentioned here and much more is the reason why the gaming community has a bone to pick with Anita, hell even most female gamers hate her guts and that is saying something. I thought Joe of all people would have been able to see through this, but sadly he left me disappointed. Oh and as many others have pointed out, men are sexualized too not just in video games but in the media in general. How many guys do you know have the physique of Kratos from God of War? There is tons of male video game characters that are super handsome and have bulging muscles, and many other masculine traits that are considered attractive. One of many facts that people like Anita overlook (many times intentionally) on a daily basis. I really wished you researched this a lot more before forming an opinion Joe, there is more to this than what you currently think.

yea but even so, she doesnt deseve death threats and people saying they are going to rape her, which was kind of his point, so thats what he was focusing on, and if that wasnt apparent in those types of comments he saw, I feel he still made a good argument. Not saying I disagree with you about Anita, because I don't, but since he was talking more about how over the top peoples reactions were, I still feel it was a good argument.

But, I think the biggest thing he was attacking was the death and rape threats/comments people were making. I mean, come on, really? To further elaborate: Joe has criticized the opposing side for trying to silence her while also failing to realize that she does the same exact thing. Any attempt to establish dialog between her and the opposing side, she will try to shut down by any means necessary. Any attempt made on her channel to criticize one or several of her points regardless of how calm or rational it may be, is met with the comment being removed and their channel blocked. Course this obviously leads to her pissing people off even further. I believe what angers people more than anything is that she won't let the other side be heard. The only way they can voice their side is by making youtube videos, to which she never responds to. There is several people that would kill for the chance to debate her publicly. Additionally she nit picks the "evidence" she presents to represent the other side and their conduct. Calm and rational people such as you and me she is not interested in. She wants angry, crazy people. She then takes "evidence" of those crazy people, point to it and say this is what the other side looks like. Have I said she is intellectually dishonest? In a nutshell those crazy people only account for a minority but Anita and Joe both are making them out to be the majority.

Anita doesn't deserve all of the hate. She is entitled to her opinion (although I don't agree with it most of the time). I think she should start enabling comments on her videos. That usually helps quell the tweets and flagging. Since most haters become content with writing several ignorant comments instead. Plus, it would allow her fans to defend her with their own comments and fight these smaller battles for her.

Lord Alkair exactly. Nonsense arguments can be easily debunked with basic facts. There are even KZreadrs like Shaun, hbomberguy, etc., that make entire videos debunking nonsense arguments. Threatening physical harm is a horrible, horrible thing that shouldn't be done. Have those who do that never heard of treat others the way you want to be treated? Not only is it horrifically immoral, it is also immensely ineffective and makes thing harder for those who just want to debunk nonsense arguments. As someone who dislikes The Last Jedi for legitimate reasons like plot issues, worldbuilding issues, issues in character development, etc., I have found it almost impossible to discuss these things, because of people who spout sexist and racist garbage about the film. Why is it difficult? The people who do that are somehow far more vocal, and I, by sole virtue of disliking The Last Jedi, get lumped in with them and ignored.

All of these comments like "Bleh lost respect for you because of defending Anita" make me laugh.

I do believe she wouldn't receive that much flak if it were about another video game subject other than feminism... The huge reaction from that is what spells out the problem. It doesn't matter what she said and why, what matters is people are taking her way too seriously. All of these comments saying "Omg Joe, you're full of shit, don't defend her! Gaaaaah!`" are all people that seriously put way too much thought into her and what she represents. Take a step back buddy, what does it matter? lifebarier I think you need to read up on the law. Legally, a threat is defined as a spoken/written word used to control/intimidate others. It is illegal to say "bitch i'll rape you". Which many gamers did do to Sarkeesian. The game is not a threat nor illegal but it is still offensive to that person.

That the outrage was only cause she was female or that internet rage is suddenly new and super serious. Now yes, threats shouldn't be applauded but it also shouldn't silence those male and female who voiced legitimate concerns either yet somehow it keeps happening. Imagine if only the death threats and craziness Jack Thompson got were the narrative shown by the gaming mainstream, would that have been accurate of the community's disagreement? Cause thats what we have now with Anita on top of the constant pandering to her without debate or criticism. Its fucking stupid. I think that whole Anita Sarkeesian was just a train wreck in the making from the start. Look I have no issue as a gamer with someone wants to talk about issues they have with the culture. The issue I have is if someone paints with such a broad brush, is there sexism in gaming...yes, but what about society in general. Look do I think we need more female character that are strongly developed and don't fall into stereotypes, of course. But doesn't excuse that someone from attack something that they aren't familiar or refuse to give a fair and honest discussion. I am also sad by the reaction towards this woman, if you have an issues...don't go off the deep end with such disturbing attacks, speak up in a calm rational manner.

the minimum brazilian wage per month is 788 reais, exchange rate of British pounds today are 5 reais for 1 pound, i dont know the details to calculate minimum wage per day but dividing 788R$ per 30 days is something like 26 reais per day, i think it may be 5 pounds per day and can be worse ahahha cause most of products in brazil are imported and with high taxes, one product can be much more expensive in brazil than in england :( for example with 5 reais you only can buy one bootle of 600ml of average beer ahahha

Just make all the male characters look like Edward Cullen, or have 'em be muscular, waxed and well-oiled but they only wear a thong. Have the females rescue them while they lie around in provocative positions. Then no one can complain. While I think her article went a bit too far, stating that everything she said is inaccurate and untrue, is fallacy. If it wasn't guys wouldn't complain that their girlfriends won't game with them, and there would be a lot more females gaming and having fun with the guys without hiding their gender. Guys want their male power fantasies in their games, I get it. There's nothing wrong with that. There is also nothing wrong with having more games that step outside of that mold either. There is definitely a lot wrong with how many gamer guys treat women they encounter in games. I hear guys all the time say "I wish more girls gamed!" make the hobby more accessible to women and make the community more welcoming and a lil less Neanderthal and girls will game with you. You might like it.

HarukoZ001 It's already inclusive. My wife enjoys a wide variety of videogames, and doesn't feel the need for them to be ''girlied up' for her. She's an avid RPG gamer, and the genre has a plethora of strong female characters. The problem is, Anita is ignoring that and pointing a spotlight on popular games such as Mario and Zelda to make it seem as though the industry is 100% anti-woman. It's heavily misrepresenting the facts to make it seem like it truly is a problem! Whatever happened to artistic license? How can we possibly call videogames an artform if we're going to work towards censoring it?

teteudeu unfortunately, the only ones who GET the attention are the irrational ones.

I saw the hate in the comments and felt that I had to give the video a like to counteract the crazy.

It's honestly funny. Had this been Jack Thompson things would be different. Angry Joe would have laid into this guy and not even once care about the harassment and death threats he's received.

Jo Vonn Who said that? If you paid attention in the video that was never once said. All he did was condemn the children making the threats and their childish tantrums.

Damn, this whole video was like a warning for the future, and nobody took it seriously enough. Furthermore, after watching Joe's 2019 gaming controversies video, I worry about what will happen next.

Do I agree with Anita? Hell no! I think she IS full of shit, comparing the likes of Princess Zelda and putting her on the same level as Princess PEACH. HOWEVER. She is a human being with an opinion and like it, or not, she should be treated with respect like any other person. 'Snot hard, guys. Seriously.

Person who hardly gives others respect, deserves it. She does not respect videogames men or even her own viewers to discuss shit. She puts out her stuff and at least on her own comments restricts any possibility for discussion under guise "some people say nasty comments" and ignoring any peaceful refutation and feminist crowd also opposes any counter views just as violently. Why do we have to respect someone who does not respect us? Sure, leave being a complete asshole about it but this is internet, and why seriously respect anyone who does not respect us. I also disrespect her opinion because she does not play videogame, her views of it come as like any external viewer. Like I would not respect myself to be a movie critic, because I am not one, and if I were guising as one I would be full of shit and deserve no respect for my opinions. I do not mean that it is a "fling shit all you want" because anita only feeded from it and it never is really a working strategy but from that kind of disrespect stems mundanematt's and other people's meticulous break down of anita's every point she presents.

SumeaBizarro lets not forget the fact that no matter what she says Everyone else is wrong because they are not her and to her only she is perfectly right and cant be wrong and the fact you are labeled as rapist for each thing you disagree with if you're male props to her though she managed to brainwash thousands of women to pay for her bills and toys just to hear her discuss her hatred towards men i disagree with 90% her content she's not feminist shes just a men hater all she does is point obvious things and gets showered in money for it and as Joe said mentioning her name has gotten this comment full of replies LOL

Anita is just one of those people that know nothing and take her opinions SO FAR as to attract so much hate from people who disagree.. thats the price for sharing your opinion on the internet, especially one like this.

Anita does know what she's talking about because she does a great deal of research on all of the topics she discusses. She backs up her opinions with facts about geek culture in general and it's history. Not only that but she discusses her opinions in a constructive manner. She never insults her audience or blames them for liking the things she finds offensive. All she is doing is providing a different perspective on video games. So attacking her seems out of line and outrageous. She is just a person reviewing gaming, and she has the right to post it online without getting harassed. Just like Angry Joe has the right to post this video online without getting similar treatment, too.

Heather N Except she doesn't research her opinions. What you are watching when viewing her videos is conformation bias. She starts off with the conclusion that games are sexist, then she LOOKS for examples in whatever she can find to back up her preconceived notions. When you perform research, you make a hypothesis, then you experiment and/or research, collect data, review and summarize the data, and develop the conclusion. And she is dishonest to boot. Remember that whole Dino Planet thing she was complaining about? That it was Crystals game, but was rehashed to That god awful Star Fox game to star a male character, and she used this as an example of developers ignoring or abandoning female leads? Well, funny how she never mentions Crystal's brother who was supposed to star with her, while she edited the trailer and gameplay footage to only ever show Crystal. This is the reason why people hate Anita, because she is twisting this shit around to fulfill a victim spotlight to gain sympathy.

dragonheart967 Unfortunately, it is impossible for any kind of media to not be sexist. I don't particularly like how males are represented in some games, and I feel that is an affront to me, sure. But then, that is my opinion, and whether or not there are facts behind it, it doesn't change the fact that what I perceive to be sexist is different to how someone else perceives something to be sexist. As such, I trust the words of someone called "Feminist Frequency" as much as I would someone called "Women are Shit." It seems unhinged.

Daemoshiin Belmont You would need to give examples of what you think men are shown to be portrayed in ways that may be sexist, because from what I have seen, a surprising amount of people continuously misuse the term sexism. Exploitation and sexualization of any character regardless of gender is not sexism, they are exploitation and sexualization. For something to be sexist, it would need to be a clear or subtle dislike of the gender as a whole, such as intentionally making all female characters unbearable bitches and just outright terrible portrayals of what a female character would act, and the same goes for male characters as well. When we clear this mix in vocabulary up, we see that not everything people claim is sexist are sexist thing, what we see are just negative aspects to characters or the use of popularized norms of our culture within given areas(our culture isn't 100% the same all over the country, some areas are just plain different than others).

It's sad that most of these bad things are still here in 2022, stronger than ever

I'm not going to ignore sexism It *is* a problem in our society, but I think to say "sexism doesn't effect men" is as ignorant as saying it doesn't happen at all. If you want an example I will give you a thousand. People need to realize there is a difference between being a feminist and being for woman's rights. If anyone honestly thinks rude comments and needless flagging is anything but a double edged sword in the case of feminism you all should and read the posts of tumblr feminists. I've seen plenty of videos flagged out of existence by the feminists that forced the uploaders to start new youtube accounts.

So yes, the feminist justice warriors _do_ have an actual effect on video games. There is a _very real_ possibility that they will take away "our porn". (An argument may be raised on whether this is a good or bad thing, but my point is that you are wrong. It's not inconsequential. It really does have an effect, and your assessment is incorrect.) You might say that this is just a single, isolated case and that it will be soon forgotten. I really hope you are right.

Target Australia removed GTA5 from its catalog because of an online petition that claims that the game entices and rewards players for assaulting women. If you claim that this has absolutely nothing to do with Sarkeesian's videos, you are delusional. Joe, you are wrong. Sarkeesian's videos _do_ have an actual effect on the market. Yes, they _are_ "taking away our porn". Are you man enough to come out and admit that you were mistaken?

Sex Panther Target Australia (and in fact a few other stores there) took it away from their customers (and precisely for the reasons that Joe says wouldn't have such an effect). This may be just an isolated case that won't repeat, or it may be the start of a trend. When the complainers and their followers see that petitions do have an actual effect on these things, what do you think they will do? Do you think they will just be content with this one single success, or do you think they will keep doing it in the future? How many other people are going to follow in their footsteps?

I continue to be awed by the amount of people who defend rape and death threats. NOT 'people who criticize Sarkeesian'. NOT 'people who think her rhetoric is taken to a distant extreme'. PEOPLE. WHO. SUPPORT. RAPE. AND. DEATH. THREATS. Because AngryJoe does NOT say Sarkeesian is right in this video. He SAYS she should not have received the endless torrent of abuse that she did. Her FAMILY should not have received it. And he's RIGHT. Agree or disagree with Sarkeesian, he's GODDAMNED. RIGHT. And all the voices above and below, criticizing AngryJoe? Accusing him of supporting her? They support, are in favour of, rape and death threats. Because that is the ONLY THING Joe came out against in this video. He gave you exactly ONE point to disagree on, and it was that nobody deserves that endless torrent of hate and abuse. And you disagreed. Disgusting, the lot of you. I sure as hell don't agree with her extremist point of view, but that ALSO sure as hell doesn't mean she deserves to receive rape threats and death delivered TO HER HOUSE - or to her FAMILY'S HOUSE - because she dare speak her opinion aloud. The police said none of the threats were credible. It was even proven the majority of threats came from sock accounts, with some ran by people in Anita's camp. We are not ok with rape and death threats and we aren't ok with people faking/lying about them and taking credibility from people who suffer from credible rape and death threats.

I don't think iv ever disagreed with Joe on anything more than Anitas videos. Dont get me wrong; I fucking love Joe, self confessed fanboy over here. BUT he has missed the entire point as to WHY gamers are upset with feminist frequency. Right or wrong (and almost provably wrong) her opinions are MISREPRESENTING gamers. Shes making us all look like sexist fools and I for one, as someone who strives for both equality and "games as art" am disgusted by her.

Yeah i agree with you buddy, only that this cause dosen't make us look any better because of that other games sends her emails with threats about either killing or raping her! I must say that all that makes us gamers look sooo much better, high five gamers! You f***king morons!! It just came up for me, i and probably few others are a part of a community filled with idiots, freaks and morons! Hahahah it's redicules, people do actions before they think... It's a shame, it's just a fucking shame! Jesus what is wrong with people actully? There is something called kindness and grown up talks. You could tell me the sky is blue but there is no proof it is. We should all be allowed to express whatever opinion we wantwithout persecution from anything or anyone. daniel andre Verkland To be clear i dont agree with the threats but i understand them. If you go on the internet and start putting out content your getting get shit no matter what it is. Its worse in her case because shes a lying, manipulative bitch whose both misrepresenting gamers and playing the victim and i'm not sure which one pisses me off more. Yes, the death threats are terrible BUT shes almost doing something worse by USING them for media attention. She doesnt understand that the threats arent based on gender or discrimination, shes being harassed because shes been caught as a lying moron.

I find the whole "Well thats your opinion" statement to be a dismissive argument for people who lack the brains or the balls to fight for or prove something they believe in. If you fight for something and get proven wrong, fine, so what? You learned something; but if everyone went around saying "well thats your opinion" nothing would move forward. To use your example, someone could say "The sky isnt blue, thats your opinion" you should retort. "No, its blue, use your common sense and cognitive senses and you'll see its blue because the light reflecting off our blue oceans gets caught in our atmosphere and reflects creating the image of a blue sky." You can believe something till your blue in the face but if your PROVEN wrong then what? Your delusional if you believe in something thats been proven wrong.

Is it right that owners to their pets are wounding and misstreating the animals? Is it right that many, many humans work as slaves in slavery? Is it right that men are raping women and that women are raping men? Is it right that grown ups are raping small children? Is it right that people are kidnapping other people just to abuse them? Is it right that people are stealing from each other even despite for that they could have survived without that? Is it right that many workers in the goverment is using their power just to get things their ways? NO!!!! None of this are right! Start opening your other eye man and start see how the world really works. Opinions comes before actions. Take the raping of children as an example. Those grown ups can run around and HAVE THAT opinion of that there is nothing wrong about raping children but when they first do it. It's wrong, it's shamefull and disgracefull! Anyway if there are some grown ups running around thinking that it's ok raping children then there is something totally wrong about their heads! To be honest... Anyway there are only opinionsnin this world until those opinions start taking action and it's the actions who works out in the end it it's right or wrong to do so.
