Drew Brees @ #1 makes perfect sense. It's easy to forget now, but when the Saints were forced out of New Orleans due to Hurricane Katrina, they played some home games in San Antonio and were strongly considering moving there. There's a decent chance New Orleans doesn't have a team anymore without him. That's where he gets the edge over Reggie White.

Peyton Manning set the NFL record with 55 touchdown passes in 2013 and surpassed Brett Favre for most touchdown passes on the all-time list in 2014! Manning definitely had more record setting moments in Denver than in Indianapolis ever since signing with the Broncos as a free agent in 2012 and after undergoing season-ending neck surgery with the Colts in 2011!

Brady should probably be higher but I cant disagree with Brees at 1. He legitimately changed that franchise
Hate to admit it, but the Chiefs ALWAYS know a good runner when they see one. They never miss. VERY happy to see Rich Gannon getting some love. I have no idea what my Raiders saw in him but I'm glad they did. Leading the '02 squad to the Superbowl after the Tuckrule and subsequent coaching change is a very underrated achievement. The origin of free agency and The Minister of Defense will forever be intertwined. Soon as Reggie did what he did in another team's uniform, everyone knew free agency was a good idea. And Drew Brees finally gets to be #1 on a list!!! Hooray! He's just as intertwined with New Orleans as Reggie is with free agency itself.

They've definitely missed on Runners...they just had a couple good ones in a row with Holmes, Johnson, Charles...and arguably screwed over every single one of them.
VIEWTIFUL list boss. Thanks for churning this one out. Deion Sanders was definitely the hallmark signing for the 49ers, but another one I think of was getting Tim McDonald as a free agent in '93. He became a cornerstone player on the defense, and really helped the unit stay in top shape for a few years. Also Ken Norton Jr. in '94.

Great video. Feel like the low marketed Bucs get overlooked alot in videos of this nature, but good to see Simeon Rice and Hardy Nickerson were added as honorable mentions. Well deserved.

Definitely some free agents signings for sure.
Look at the last 5 years of Peyton’s career and you would think it was a Hollywood Story. No matter what, he is a Colt, but he is just as much as a Bronco as well.
How is Brady only 5?? He won a Super Bowl in his first year with the Bucs, made that franchise relevant, broke their playoff dry spell that was over a decade long, AND now the Bucs will go back to missing the playoffs without him

U have to take into account that it was the COVID year where he won the super bowl. Not to fully discredit him but he was on the road the entire playoffs and likey wouldn't have made it to the super bowl with a full Lambeau field or super dome two of the hardest places to play in. Also u also have to take into account that the bucs acquired way more FA other than Brady.

How is he above Charles Woodson is the real question. Tampa had one of the best offensive lines and receiving cores with a solid defense the first two years. Like putting up yardage for Brady is kind of dumb since he threw the most pass attempts in NFL history the last 2 years. With a ton of ring-chasing free agents added on. Charles Woodson on the other hand had 38 Ints in the 7 seasons he was with the Packers. Which is more than most players get in their entire career. Locking down Calvin Johnson is no easy feat as well. I don’t remember if he won the super bowl with the Packers or not (I think so) but they had the same amount of rings over their free agent contracts then. I’m pretty sure a few QBs would have done just as well as Brady did with the supporting cast he had. This is really just some dumb Brady bias he was only good for 2 seasons. Absolutely fell off last year with a weak division and it showed when they played the first game in the playoffs.

The disrespect for Tom Brady is insane! Its like no one understands it. Tampa Bay may only be a franchise because of Tom.

I think they're bumping him up because he was a one-year game changer for TWO teams in back-to-back years, which is pretty much unheard of. He's getting credit for two free agent signings rolled into one. Still I hear you. Taking those 49ers and Cowboys to the Superbowl is nothing compared to taking the CARDINALS to a Superbowl.

Brees at one makes sense. Gilmore for the Pats was also a great one and I’d probably put Brady higher.
Enjoyed it, though no honorable mention for the great Jon Runyan. How about best and worst free agent signings by team, maybe separate videos by decade?
Peyton Manning singlehandedly saved John Elway’s reputation. He practically did Elway’s job for him because every single significant player we signed who played a significant role for that super bowl team would never even step foot in Colorado if Peyton wasn’t there.
I’m glad y’all put the Burner on here
Andrew Whitworth to the Rams has to be top 10 at least. He was a key piece to the Rams resurgence under McVay
Honestly I would argue that Reggie White is just as important to the Packers as he was to the Eagles, and that he’s just as iconic to both teams. People tend to forget that Green Bay was a dumpster fire for *20* years. We had Lynn Dickey, James Lofton, Coffman, even Majik Man, but Green Bay was perpetually in the basement. Then we get Brett Favre in a trade, no big deal obviously, until Majik goes down, the rest, was history. But even then, Green Bay was sort of turning the corner, on the rise, but as a quiet background thing. Then free agency hits for the first time. I remember my Dad telling me that he daydreamed about getting Reggie, like a Lions fan daydreaming about what if prime Rodgers joined forces with Megatron. Only Reggie *actually* did it. All of a sudden, Green Bay went from being a tiny backwater, to a tiny backwater, but one that became a hot spot for free agents. A young Favre lighting up the offense with arguably the greatest defensive player in NFL history on the other side? Sign me the hell up. And for 30 years, Green Bay has been at worst a playoff contender. He and Favre *completely* changed Green Bay’s fortunes alongside Holmgreen, and in return Reggie got something he never had at any other point in his life. A championship.
Of course being a Bolt fan its Brees ! SMH - And these newer Chargers fans loved Rivers with us vets fans still asking WTF is or was AJ Smith thinking ? And Michael Turner and Darren Sproles and Vincent Jackson, Antonio Cromartie
Maybe the only signing the cowboys have made worth a damn since the FA-era began. A no-brainer one at that ... and then nothing. Nothing at all for what, 28 years now? 28 years of not even making it into the NFC title game once FA firmly took hold.
Do Every NFL Team Next Please😏
Sanders #4? - Man I love how he played, he was the best but SF and Dallas were already very good teams Manning at #3? and White at #2? same comment Denver and GB were already playoff teams Brady at #5? When he took a team that didn't play a playoff game in 12 years and won a SB in his first year, that's amazing, Brady should be #2 Brees #1
