Also you can go to your ps2 settings ang go to where it shows the month date and year and bump it up a year or 2 and go back into the game and that same cutscene where you find the legendary sniper the End will trigger

Did this the first playthrough with the sniper rifle, then got hit from behind. That part of the game was so God damn cool. Fighting the End is so much fun but.

My favorite on the topic of breaking 4th wall is in MGS4 in Shadow Moses. At the exact location where in MGS we need to switched to Disc 2, in MGS4 Otacon suddenly call your codec. He told you that "It's time to change disc" before he realized that "We're using Bluray disc now" so no need to switch disc and how "Technology has advanced" I laughed so hard at that part.

I remember a good one for breaking the fourth wall; in MGS while you're being held prisoner after suffering from torture Dr. Naomi contacts you and tells the player to put the controller on their arm saying that she will provide therapy. She then makes the control vibrate gently a number of times and asks if it feels good.

What really scared the hell out of me was when i was anywhere from 7-9 years old playing twin snakes on my gamecube and having psycomantis tell me what games ive played. THAT freaked me the hell out xD

So if Kojima’s superior didn’t convince him to stay at Konami, then we wouldn’t have any metal gear games.

Japanese video game companies in the 90s wanted games that target children or games that are one-linear in story and gameplay mechanics. Only Konami has the guts to produce "concept" games at that time.

You know on MG4 when psycho mantis moves your controller on PS3 if you turn off the vibrate function a alternate cutscene will appear

if you rescue Kojima in Ground Zeroes, you get him a lot sooner in TPP. Ironically, you still get the side op to rescue him...even if you already have him...and when you do it, you dont then have 2 Kojima's :(

He even tried to save a dead franchise in Silent Hills on his way out and got burned for it. Someone at Konami is toxic as fuck.

You can also kill the End after a cutscene before the actual fight. You can snipe him and instead of him, special forces will appear at the battleground on which you where supposed to confront him.

Yes there is a cutscene at the dock with him in a wheelchair and you can snipe him in the cutscene if you are fast and the boss battle won't take place later. Why hasn't that been mentioned? I didn't know about the old age one tho lol. He also gets pissed off if you kill his parrot during the battle.

Same goes for the facts about the gibberish らりるれろ, but to be precise, we actually have ら-gyo(gyo is how we call the every unit of Japanese kana table, for instance, ka ki ku ke ko is called か行(ka-gyo)), so la li lu le lo is not exactly a literal gibberish, because we do have them as a gyo. What makes this complicated is how we pronounce them: it is a linguistic matter. To put it simple, there are neither ra-gyo nor la-gyo, and at the same time, ら-gyo can be expressed both ra-gyo or la-gyo from the English perspective(we neither have R nor L sound in our language, so linguistically speaking, the best explanation about the ら-gyo is that they sound just between the R and L sound). In conclusion, as the word ら-り-る-れ-ろ doesn't have a meaning in Japanese anyway, it could sound silly and can also be used as a code. Thanks♡

Fun fact, in the same psychomantis fight in MGS 4, if you change the controller number, (hold the PS button, and hit controller options, you can reassign controller numbers,) which I knew was a thing beforehand, and thought Kojima was going to be cheeky like that, but instead you get a hilarious response from Otacon and the Colonel explaining why you can't move lol

Same. I could not figure it out. In the end it was my own mother who said to check the actual box, I must have been 8 or 9 years old and she never took an interest in my video games before. After that moment she was always helping me out on MGS. I was never able to save Meryl during the torture scene, but my mum always managed to tap the button quick enough. I have so many fond memories of the MGS series, and this is one of them.

Absolutely wonderful video. MGS1 on the PS1 at the age of 10, changed my life. Up until that point, I hadn't realized whatan amazingly captivating story a video game could achieve. The story of Shadow Moses is probably still my favorite. In this video, you really nailed the boiled down essence of what people love about MGS. Great job!

Like the guy above me said, Tactical Espionage Expert is most likely a reference to MGS. While not directly related to MGS, the Ojamas were named after Kojima himself. No matter how hard they try to scrub his name away, he will always have made his mark.

The ending of MGS 5 is actually a bit detailed. At least the scene of Venom Snake listing to Big Boss himself. He gives him the role of Big Boss and the task to "self-destruct Mother Base". While Venom launches the countdown he activates a litte machine that is nothing more then the console on that you played MGX in wich you get to fight "Big Boss at the end". This explains why Big Boss is still alive in MGS4 because Solid Snake didn't kill Big Boss. He killed Venom Snake

@@moldinmoldersno, in metal gear 1 you kill venom, in metal gear 2 when you burn big boss, he survives (this is one of the bodies in mgs4, the other one that is destroyed is solidus)

There are some good nuggets here. Love this franchise.

+Ossi Muurinen While I think the PS1 version is probably a lot better, there is actually an old PC release for MGS1 (the textures are weird for characters in the PC version from what I can tell).

The PC version is a real pain to get running on modern hardware. It's not worth the hassle. If you want the extra graphical fidelity that the PC version offers, you can just emulate it and turn on a few graphical upgrades from the emulation menu.
