    I agree that Maleficent is #1, but I think she has more than one great evil monologue. Does any one remember the scene when she goes down into the dungeon where she's captured Prince Philip? She sorta retells the traditional "True Love's Kiss" story mockingly to his face "...and prove that true love conquers all!"

    Rosie John Those rhymes aren't my own. They are from the Hunchback of Notre Dame movie. But I can come up with something original...like THIS: We need sweet and kind hearted people like Quasimodo. Not abusive, evil and wicked people like Frollo. Quasimodo sees the world as beautiful and always gives a smile; Frollo on the other hand see the world as dark, wicked, and vile. Quasimodo sees Esmeralda as an angel and learns from her that true beauty comes from within; Frollo sees Esmeralda as a demon and nothing but a temptation of sin. Quasimodo helps people in need when situations are dire; Frollo harms people by torturing them and setting them on fire. Answer this riddle that is if you can; What makes a monster and what makes a man?

    I know it wouldn't make the list due to the "no song" rule, but think Scar's monolouge during "Be Prepared" (in fact, the entire song itself) would've made number one . . . or at least number two. Hard to beat Maleficent.

    There are some really good monologues on this list, and I'm a bit surprised to see that Professor Ratigan's monologue was only an honorable mention. I feel like the rant Yzma has about how she couldn't believe Kuzco fired her and how she practically raised him, while Kronk is listening and setting up busts of Kuzco's head for her to smash is another good one.

    Anton Ego is NOT the villain of Ratatouille. Skinner is, the little Napoleon complex, eternally angry head chef with an inferiority complex. However, I will agree that Ego's monologue/soliloquy review is one of the best ever written by Pixar or Disney. It's my favorite part of Ratatouille.

    Interesting bit of Trivia. During the recordings with Lucille La Verne for Snow White, it was felt that her voice was too smooth for the Witch. Asking herself to be excused, La Verne left the room; upon returning a few moments later, her voice was exactly what Cottrell and Grant wanted. When asked how she achieved this, La Verne admitted that she had removed her false teeth.

    I must say, the "Honorable Mentions" were wonderful! A lot of people didn't like Prince Hans as a villain, but I thought he was great, especially as repeated viewings of the film more clearly reveal his machinations and how he was manipulating everyone, culminating in that great monologue. Mad props go to his voice actor Santino Fontana's performance in that scene, talking about killing Elsa and seizing the throne in the same tone of voice he might use for sharing a witty anecdote at a party. He truly gave Hans the voice of a sociopath. Ratigan is such an underrated villain, largely due to Vincent Price's great voice work, and that monologue summed up how delightfully twisted and sadistic he was behind his sophisticated front. I honestly was hoping throughout this list that Ursula would indeed at least get an honorable mention, as her monologues throughout the movie were truly brilliant.

  • @ellynmacgregor8210

    @ellynmacgregor8210

    I agree with you 100%. Hans is one of the less spectacular villains--but all the more effective for his subtlety. People who claim that nobody would act like that in real life haven't read about some "charming", "gentlemanly" fellows who turned out to be serial killers...and some of those naive people might be in for rude awakenings. Yes, Ratigan is underrated as a villain, but then so was the movie, The Great Mouse Detective (which should have been called *Basil of Baker Street*, imo). I was very surprised and a bit disappointed that Ursula didn't get any mention at all. Of course, her great solo song was ineligible, but she still *said* plenty.

    Why did you make list of monologues and did not include Maleficent's infamous monologue to the imprisoned Prince Philip where she essentially gently and triumphantly taunts that she has created perfect fairy tale ending for him and her beloved? It's even better when you realize that she is just that, a dark fairy, force of nature that seeks to torment, subvert and break hope wherever it is. In effect, her triumph would have remade beautiful story into bitter tragedy, hope into despair, love into bitterness. This is essential conflict between fairies in The Sleeping Beauty, they both want to influence the story. I cannot but think that Maleficent claiming; "True Love conquers all!" in sadistic glee is standard which all villain monologues should be held.
