@@yussidahat4781 true, admittedly while this adaptation of cruella is compelling it no longer lines up with the cruella from 101 Dalmatians. But I’d argue that’s just because a lot of the villains in the earlier animations were very one sided and unlikeable characters. I’ve definitely noticed as of the past decade people are definitely wanting and loving more “human” and multi dimensional villains. Villains who are not evil just for the sake of it, but people who you’ve gotten to see their struggles, their traumas and how that molds them into the person they become. It makes you actually care because, in some way, we could all turn into these villains, and we empathize with these people because of what they’ve had to endure but also grieve in some way for who they’ve become to adapt to an unfair world

Why do people think accent is a hard thing to do…
@celeste2025
9 ай бұрын
@vladshkuratov I think that unless you've grown up hearing them and speaking them, accents are pretty hard to nail. Certain letters sound differently though not always depending on the word, and there's certain emphasis either at the beginning, middle, or end of a word; basically, things are said and sound differently with an accent even if your saying the same word/sentence. And it's hard for a lot of people to be consistent with those sounds and fluctuations constantly throughout a movie if they're not used to talking like that. That's why they get coaches or they're just that good

What an incredible confession monologue! Cruella was born bad, it's in her blood, we see though the movie how se was ''taught to be good'', and she tried to adapt to this, but this personality division always gave her a hard time. She was fighting with her inner true identity. On this scene (which is the best of the film), she finally realizes who she is, who she wants to be, she connects the dots about her past, and accepts her true bad self. She was oppressed all these years, trying to pretend, and now she is finally free and relieved.

Honestly this movie was and still remains one of my favorites of all time. Something about it I just appreciate and love. I thought it was going to be another lifeless remake that was going to end up forgotten (it still did sadly). It was an extremely well written movie. Cruella was one of the best written characters I've seen tbh. The movie isn't so much about her evil-ness and spite but more about how she spiraled into insanity, and how she got to be the villain we all hate in the classic movie 101 dalmatians. Most of these remakes have let me down but this is genuinely one of my favorite movies if not my favorite. I genuinely wish more people talked about this masterpiece of a movie. The way they present Cruella could almost be seen as relatable, not like we're all going crazy, but the frustrations of life. Not to mention Emma Stones immaculate acting. She really portrayed Cruella in the best way. So yeah, that to me is why this movie is truly one of my personal favorites. I wish Disney would make more like this.

One of the things I loved most about this movie was its way of balancing "Cruella" and Estella" throughout the movie. Having Estella with the ego side "Cruella" in the beginning until she slowly becomes "Cruella". It really gave the lead character more of a 3-deminsional side and more character development than to just have her be Cruella at the start of the film.

What makes this scene so…chilling in a strange way was how this moment was the birth of what will someday be the madness of Cruella down the road. Because yes, she WILL someday end up like her mother…but before she goes down that path…she does let the one person who love her know that she always had loved her stepmother. And it makes us…well, at least me wonder….that if she could have seen her future self at that moment she would probably ask: “…what happened to you…? To me…that made you forget…that “WE” are nothing like her…but better…?”

Watching these characters as a kid, they were just bad for the sake of been bad. Made them kind of flat. They were just there as someone for the good guy to fight to make them look even better. Call me sadistic but even as a kid I irritated people by asking them why are these people so horrible? (I should have been a shrink!) 30 years on, I am only now just getting my question answers. Never condone people been evil, but I like to understand why, even if it is just a kids film. Look at Maleficent. They flipped her completely and made the King the villain.

Why do people think accent is a hard thing to do…
@celeste2025
That's why they get coaches or they're just that good
This scene breaks me because it's soooo real, that's how people become evil, lack of love, support ☹️

More like embracing her DARKER side which everyone has in real life. Estella still held on to the good parts of herself including the love for her friends and people who loved her. She's just embracing the parts of herself she kept buried and using them for productive purposes. I love this version of Cruella because she's portrayed in such a realistic way in that she shows how everyone is a complex and conflicted being as opposed to the simple good and evil Disney characters and others are known for.

This scene made me cry so badly.
This was easily one of the best films in a live action Disney film to date. This whole scene was utterly brilliant and it had an almost Shakespearean quality! I had doubts about Emma Stone but this film made me reassess my entire opinion of her.
I love this scene from this brilliant prequel film of Disney's villian Cruella. Cruella is talking to her adopted mother's spirit (Catherine) in her mind about what she's been doing and telling her that she's gonna make things right (getting revenge on the Baroness)

Amazing acting. Epic scene. Emma Stone is pure Talent.

The other Oscars this movie should've been nominated for: Best Actress (Emma Stone) Best Supporting Actress (Emma Thompson) Best Director (Craig Gillespie) Best Cinematography Best Film Editing Best Production Design

There is just something incredibly stirring about the one and lost love of an uncaring villain. The fact that they loved once and in some way still do. And it was that love that pushed them over the edge. It just hits close to heart. Makes it that much. . . . more.
The acting on this scene is perfection!! ❤️💯
Can we just reflect on the fact that this was all one long take? Emma Stone hasn't done much live theater, but this entire monologue REALLY highlights her acting abilities. It would have been SO EASY for an actress to lean into the campiness of Cruella DeVil, but Emma managed to make it all completely 100% believable without it feeling forced.
