1.When Charlotte mistakes the black woman as her friends mother-in-law. 2. Charlotte’s knowledge of black artists when we’ve never seen her talk about any of that before. 3. When Charlotte and Harry have to have a meeting about Rock after being the last people to know that that’s their name now. The school should have contacted them. I wish the media would stop telling parents to stop being parents. (Rant for another day) 4. Mirander and Che…period! 5. The forced diverse cast. They are trying way too hard. Remember Miranda dated a black man (Blair Underwood). Their meeting and relationship was not cringy. It was a natural meeting and relationship. The new characters deserve better. 6. Che is not funny! 7. Mario Canton is now Carrie’s friend?! I could go in but I won’t.

@@meshiawashington5852 Rock’s school costs Harry and Charlotte probably $30k/yr and they don’t need be informed? And where are her children going to Hebrew school? @@meshiawashington5852 you bring in valid points but instead of onwardly devaluing their story, can we understand where the writers, casts are coming from and what their intentions are? wrt to race, and not that I'm defending them but, could it be that the white upper middle class ++, while they know that POC exists have never understood how their own privilege dehumanised POCs. They are trying to acknowledge their ignorance and make up for it.. should we be judging how they navigate this space??? My take. while trying to make up for ignorance, they are making mistakes (which is natural) and sometimes are forcing things perhaps because they want to feel like they have done the right thing, or perhaps of personal conviction or another reason. Point is navigating this amount of social change, while older is their story, some of it forced in our lenses, but perhaps that's also the struggle they are facing. Instead of cancelling allies for doing it wrong, Perhaps such views should be given spaces so that the next decade can focus on honest progressive conversations🤔

Anthony's lines about Charlotte's daughter were spot on. My child spent an entire year chastising anyone who misgendered her (she wanted to be "they/them") and quickly about faced to I'm a lesbian with she/her pronouns. All in her sophomore year. Kids/teens don't know what they want, they see something that fits their mood that day and run with it. All we can do as parents is support and talk with them. They'll figure it out eventually. But walking on eggshells as a way of support is just ridiculous. No child or teen knows exactly what they want at those ages.

They made Miranda unrecognizable. Beside her awkward racial issues, her personality has been written terribly. Miranda in SATC didn’t stumble on her words, didn’t rely on others opinions so much, and didn’t smile so much about feelings. Miranda rarely made poor excuses for the way she acted, she usually stood up for it or apologized harshly. I hate how glossy of a character she is now. Everything is a giggle & a smile. Her pining over Che is unlike Miranda, regardless of her feelings for them. Miranda wouldn’t lose herself like that. Remember when Burger told Miranda “he’s just not into you” & Miranda agreed? She wouldn’t be so attached to this weird relationship with Che.

Kids shouldn't be ignored when they are trying to express their feelings, but at the same time kids still have a hard time expressing clearly what they feel, so all shouldn't be taken literally, at face value. Also, feelings change. They could have taken the chance to show a case of a parent respecting and listening to a child's concerns and feelings, without validating the feelings and turning them into fact in seconds, or instead pretending nothing is happening. But no, they decided to do... something else...

If certain groups are included just for the sake of inclusion, but without any real focus or huge story line, viewers may still get a sense of the "checking boxes" issue. Like, oh why have minorities or gays if they're just empty characters without any substance? So, they're kind of damned if they do and damned if they don't. In my eyes, this is the real problem. Society is much too hyper-focused on calling out every little offense, and far too sensitive for anything to be perceived as just natural and organic, even when it is! If people would just stop reading into every little thing, maybe they'd all calm down enough to realize this.

Every single episode had something to do with gender, race…we got it after the first couple minutes that they wanted to be more inclusive. We got it! I wish they had just stuck to the story lines instead of trying to prove they are inclusive of everything, or trying to teach the viewer to be inclusive of everything. We didn’t need a TV show to teach us things we already know and accept…we just wanted a TV show. I’m really hoping season 2 is better and they got this approach well and truly out of their system. How did nobody watch this back and think, yea I think we overdid this, let’s drop this now and just tell the story. Even managed to get mansplaining in there. 🤦🏼‍♀️

The main issue with this whole reboot isn't only how woke it's trying to be. It's that it feels like they deserted the main characters on a remote island for 15 years with no access to the rest of the world, and then deposited them back into NYC. These people are acting like they missed ALL the developments of the last decade, in spite of the fact that they have been living in a MAJOR city the whole time. As an example, Miranda and Charlotte (in their own ways) act like they've never seen a Black person in their lives.

With regard to the sari, I've been to an Indian wedding in London and the bride made it clear she would be very happy for any of the white guests to wear traditional dress. Cultural appreciation and she saw it as respectful, not cultural appropriation. She was happy for all guests to wear traditional or western clothes. Just because woke folk think it's cultural appropriation doesn't mean that the culture they are concerned about think that.

Same. When my close childhood friend (who is Indian) got married, I wore saris and lehengas to all her ceremonies and celebration events and she wanted it that way and chose the outfits specially for me. I also got the henna on my hands at one ceremony. Guests taught me how to dance to Indian music and her family and Indian friends were thrilled to see me partaking in the culture. Growing up with her, I always felt her family and the Indian culture (as a whole) extremely welcoming to me, and eager to share customs and traditions. The wide 'cultural appropriation' net feels like another thing meant to divide us as human beings.

Nobody ever really thought about differences in a negative way - it was always about sharing cultures, foods, customs. It was so positive. I can't recall a time when anyone was offended about anything. Now it feels so divisive and people walk on eggshells, afraid of doing or saying the wrong thing. Kim Cattrall is coming off like the queen she is bc she avoided this train wreck. The excuse they gave over why Samantha left is laziness on the part of writers. Samantha moved to LA in the movies so she was longer based in New York anyway, so they could’ve just written in that distance caused the friendship to wither away like it happens in real life. Or they could’ve written it in a way that is consistent with Samantha. I agree that the Che character is the worst of all. One of the first non binary characters on television and they make them vile. 🤮 And the actor Sara Ramirez who portrays Che said in an interview that non binary ppl are not monolithic. Sorry excuse. There was a missed opportunity to make a non binary character a great representation instead of the vile creep Che is. This show should’ve never been green lit in the first place, especially without Samantha. The point about Che helping with Rock… That’s where they missed it. Take out the Miranda/Che storyline which completely disrespects Steve and their marriage. Instead, have Che walk Charlotte through how she can walk with her child/how she would want her parents to react. Makes so much more sense for a storyline.

That would have been a better angle, but honestly I don’t want a “Rock” or a “Che” storyline. No one asked for Che/ a love interest for Miranda and the Rock part was added just to be trendy. Seriously the percentage of actual transgender people in the world that are actually serious about it is so minute. Both characters we’re added/changed purely based on that and that is the extent of their characters, which is pretty sad. Same with the professor who is there to merely exist because she’s a black woman. These writers think they’re helping, but they’re actually hurting.

@@JennyofOldStones713 Oh, I agree with that too. They’re throwing every trendy “woke” moment out there in hopes to attract a new audience. I will say, the rumor is Cynthia Nixon asked to be gay since she is in real life. But when to do that would have been in the original series. Not 20+ years later after so many Steve/Miranda are meant to be storylines.

That's what I was thinking like after the comedy show I thought Charlotte was going to talk to Che and that Che was going to give her some advice but nope that didn't happen. It would have made so much sense, it's like you know this person probably the most helpful resource you have and you don't use it . Like what the heck

@@JennyofOldStones713 that's what I was thinking! I don't mind adding something more than just white heterosexuals to the show but they outdid themselves. I'm literally a leftie (politically speaking). I'm into human rights and etc etc. And even I don't have that many friends or even know of people that are transgender or gay or non binary. (I'm myself mixed black (from South America) and white Dutch) from the Netherlands. A rich white woman in the US is just much more likely to be surrounded by similar looking people and chances are much bigger that they would never ever be friends with a non-binary person. Not because they don't like them but they would just not meet them or have anything in common. The truth is people generally stick with their own. I'm not saying mixing can not happen. But that would much more likely happen at a younger age in college. Not at 55 all of a sudden going from 0 friends of colour or 0 trans friends to all of a sudden everyone they meet ticking one of those boxes. The idea of Che guiding Rock would be great. But indeed for now it's just characters ticking boxes instead of just being human beings with a life besides being just gay or black or both.

This is what happens when what you are is more important than who you are, & what the characters look like is more important than what they're doing.

From what I have seen of this: Carrie appears as insecure and self-absorbed as ever - as if she has learned absolutely nothing from all of her previous experiences. There is no way Samantha would be so petty as to cut ties with them over a disagreement. The confident, independent Miranda now acts like she stepped out of a flying saucer from another dimension. Charlotte seems to be the only one who stayed true to herself - and even she had awkward moments here. This was pretty much a cry of "WE'RE STILL RELEVANT!" when nobody was really questioning that. It's patronising and ridiculous in every possible way.

I guess it's best to just pretend that this series is a whole different universe/canon than the original series or even the movies. Otherwise things doesn't really make sense.
