I once saw Newport IOW vs Newport County in the league!!! They have very much gone in different directions since then.

Not all of Portsmouth is on Portsea Island, about a quarter of the city is on the mainland so although the population of Portsmouth is approx 205,000, I wonder how many people actually live on the island?

Gosport borough mate! Went there with whitehawk for our relegation face off a couple seasons back we won on penalties and got the ferry from Portsmouth harbour to gosport You can reach it by road aswell tho

It's just got a sponsor that's all who insist on it being officially known as that as part of the deal, It's still the same to everyone else and when the sponsor pulls out it will no longer have to officially be called what it is now Its just advertising and bring in dosh for the club Same with any other ground that's got a sponsor, Newcastle Uniteds ground was once branded Sports Direct Arena but everyone had before, did at the time and will always call it St James park Man city's Etihad Stadium Is only called that because of money, It's still the city of Manchester stadium, It's just branding.

I'm surprised Lindisfarne (aka Holy Island) aren't in this list, but then again, do they even have a football team?

Barry Island was an island until the 1880s, so would have been on this list if it currently had a team in the English pyramid, however, they play in the Welsh pyramid, so don't qualify for this list.

Ok then what can I say as I was guessing with myself before I watched this video only to realise I completely forgotten about Sheppey Utd FC as I’ve been going to that island on holidays staying at the family holiday home for many years since I was a little baby and now I’m 58 years old and in my teens and twenty’s I remember reading about the mentioned local football team in the local newspaper now that aside I was assuming that there is the isle of Thanet in Far East Kent with two teams such as Margate FC and Ramsgate FC and maybe one or two others as for the location although it doesn’t look like an island it probably technically is as it has two narrow rivers separating it from the mainland so anyways I’m just going to check that out so that’s it for now thanks so take care and cheerio

Portsmouth isn't though an Island, the vast majority of the City is on Portsea Island but a fair chunk, Paulsgrove, Cosham, Drayton, Farlington is actually off the Island. There is also often talk of them moving to the north of the City and off Portsea Island completely (typically to Horsea Island or Cosham).

You missed Margate and Ramsgate from the Isle of Thanet!
